I am totally with you regarding these two scenes. DLJ really impressed me with his performance in the first scene (and a few other non-crying scenes)

I would add the third one of YQ’s death scene after ghe Guxui fight here. His blue eyes, the Flawless World ost by Mao Buyi all blend in and elevate that scene well, hit me hard (even though i knew YQ will be revived)

I am curious about Ancient love poetry. The mixed reviews make me hesitate though.
I like Ashes of love a lot too. The gaze of the male lead is just 😍 His acting is good too. Would love the show more if there is less misunderstanding 😅

Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms was my most favorite xianxia before the release of TSL 😆i really like the calm vibe of both leads. Bai Qian was such a passionate and dedicated lover (and the kiss scenes were done properly 😂🙈) but YQ really makes several decisions of BQ questionable, so BQ has lost his top rank in my heart.
I find Dylan very cool in LBFA. Cool in the typical way and therefore his character cannot beat YQ’s. But i can inderstand why Lot of people cannot enjoy this show, esp after watching TSL.
I will stay away from Journey of Flower then, never in the mood for pain haha

I can relate to your 1,2,4. I skipped a lot of the scenes relating to misunderstandings too. I guess the writers dont know how to proceed a story without miscommunication 🥲

The scene you pinpointed is really moving and matches with the ending poetically.
I actually was drawn to him from the very beginning because of his calm, rational and socially awkward characteristics. So rare to see these characteristics in a ML of a xianxia show, but these traits are quite common in real life. (I am probably biased here because that is my type 😂)

My ranking of the best xianxia shows (i’ve watched so far):
1. The starry love
2. Eternal love, Love between fairy and devil, Ashes of love, Love and redemption
Seriously, putting aside the great acting, plot, etc., YQ has challenged many acts and statements under the name of love of the main characters in prior shows. He really challenges what is considered normal or even attractive (eg, the overbearing type). He demonstrates that a man can be dominant in a battle yet submissive to his loved one; he is upright when it comes to principles, but also flexible to adapt them; he has little experiences with love, but he knows how to love a person unconditionally, whole-heartedly, and selflessly. How perfect he is. It’s so hard for me now to watch other shows where the main characters depict such usual traits as tsundere, overbearing, hot-tempered, quiet, cool in a shallow way, knowing that there could be a better version. I hope YQ character will inspire writers and directors to continue to create great personalities. And like another fellow here has put it ‘art imitates life and life imitates art.’

Couldn't agree more! And that's why sometimes I don't even bother to respond to the negative comments. There's no point in correcting them when they demand an orange but what we have here is a (best-quality) apple.

Lol I also watched The Glory. The only way to not compare a show to TSL is to watch a completely different genre 😅
