Gillian Chung is playing the character that is Mu Sheng's mom. So the drama is trying to fool us into thinking they're side characters happening in real time like the water demons, but should be a story from before he is born. I feel like they're going to mindblow us later with a reveal, which is why I think it's better we are confused now.

They are the actors Xu Haiqiao and Gillian Chung!! We don't know who they are yet...I think its a past couple.

when they paired up again, everyone was talking about it lol. they had good chemistry in Moonlight; highly worth the watch

He's a game character so he's written in a way that has a code "Hurt his sister = die!" but then you'll see that FL breaks the "system" and his character comes to life. I hope that helps you keep watching on!

at first all those villagers were like "my mum is coming back tomorrow!" "oh yes so is my son!" "they can come home together!" and I was like aw thats a sweet town...then later when his wife gone 5 years and coming back tomorrow, i got the chills

so the take from the audience perspective is, they let us see "xing zhi" but his guise is still there in the village for shen li and everyone else. shen li knows its him but pretends along with him, so they can have some "peaceful" life.
