he should've learned from Yu Zheng, who threw a fast ball to curve the hate he would've gotten if he left the OE ending for The Double. YZ acted freaking fast, read the audience atmosphere, and pulled the actors out of his arse to film a 5 min episode the week before the scheduled ending. what a save

its funny the comments. Seems the general sentiment is, if they had to delete all the censored stuff and add on ridiculous scenes to make it longer (LYL!!!) then why give it a BE? If its a HE at least he will be forgiven.

They added: the 3 families story, the stones, even the director has to play mr.mo. The scene SZH turns ML into a vampire, they censored the "bite", insert a scene of the blood stone. Other things I notice is sometimes the main characters have "fang bites" on their neck they never address, so I assume some situations got cut. They cut every scene Weilian sucks blood so the action parts seem rushed.

I think Chinese censorship (gov't) ruined it. They had 2 rounds of "cutting/editing" before it got approved for airing. The noticeable changes are: censor on Vampire (blood sucking, blood drinking, cut the blood-kiss down, cut some of the vampire power/action scene ; censor on "Japanese" involvement - Mu Lihua is supposed to be Jap, and LYL was a chinese traitor working for Japs; censor/tone down the ML/FL relationship - dubbed over some original script such as how they refer to each other, change the words from "love you" to "care for you", and cutting some more lovey scenes like hand holding/hugs etc.

The ending is a mystery, unsure of director involvement or due to plot change/censorship. The screenwriter of the show posted an "epilogue" that shows he comes back years later, so we don't know if its a fix to placate irate fans, or that this ending got cut.

Had a feeling they did follow novel, but then they went through those two censorship failures and had to change stuff. :/

Yeah, I feel the same way about the romance. It gave me "we fell in love because the screenwriter wants us to" vibes. I am still hoping the romance after the angst and memory loss will be good, though.
