Opposite for me, because reading the novel, he is exactly as described, and I had a very hard time imagining a guy like this. You have no idea the words used to describe him, I mentioned it on here before, but things that come to mind are "temperamental beauty, wicked smile-not-a-smile, demon in red, languid postures, lazy drawls, etc". WXY brought this ML to life, and even better than I imagined. I think the slomo is not just for him, but cinematic effect, which this drama team seems to love, which teeters on the verge of excess.

Nah it'll be over quick. Not much school stuff, from what I can tell from teasers. Unless they drag it out, which I WILL HATE. The novels from this author seems to LOVE school life, but this one was quick.
I don't see from teasers they will drag, it seems to go to the exams quick after a bit of training, but the drama added some weird"team up" thing. I would guess its to push along FL with some friends (cousin, Liu Xu, and SML Ye Shi Jie). What's crazy is, in the book, YOU DONT SEE THE ML Duke Su until the exams, so the drama serves WXY but alas, still complaints.

He was a humble nobody in a small town, married FL for love. He scored #1 on the Imperial Exams and got a somewhat low governmental title (Scholar), but has no money/prestigious family backing, thus unable to move up in society. Somehow he caught crazy Princess's eyes, and they started an affair behind FL's back, and he's doing it with his eye on power & title of Prince Consort (princess husband). The value here is, she's the Emperor's sister, not his daughter, so it makes him akin to a "bro" to the Emperor almost. So he had to get rid of his wife without ruining his own reputation; in fact got a good reputation as a grieving and forgiving husband.
