Idk if there will be behind the scenes before the drama airs since I've heard the crew wants to keep the filming low profile and not release much content before it airs.
Who Han Li has the most chemistry with (according to me π), from last place to 1st place: 5. Dong Xuan'er 4. Nangong Wan 3. Chen Qiao Qian (fellow yellow maple sect disciple) 2. Miss Mo 1. Wang Chan ππ₯
Omg it has Dylan, Wang Duo, the actress from Joy of Life and the little brother's actor from Sword Snow Stride? And the synopsis sounds interesting? I'm seated for thisπ₯
For this kind of drama, I always advocated watching the donghua animation first for this exact reason, to become…
I'm not much into animations, but I might try watching this one in the future since I like this story. Or maybe read the novel. Thanks for the recommendation! Anyway I continued watching and didn't notice much skipping or weird cuts in the later episodes, so all good :)
So glad I'm not the only one enjoying it better than JOL! I literally couldn't finish the 1st ep of JOL. Meanwhile…
Actually thanks to the previous comment I did go and watch JOL 1&2! I was very addicted to it and imo it really deserves its title as one of the masterpieces of Cdrama.
For me personally tho, it doesn't make a lot of sense to compare JOL and SSS, since I feel like the vibe is completely different- SSS feels a lot more chill, almost Zen-like, and is focused more on the martial arts world and adventure. JOL has a clever writing which is focused more on the world of palace politics but with humour and action too. So each has its own uniqueness. I would rewatch SSS if I want something more chill, and JOL if I want something with more tension and intrigue.
But yeah, I agree that JOL's writing is more interesting. From what I heard, the novel JOL is based on is considered 1 of the top 5 Chinese webnovels of all time, so no wonder the drama is well written. And yeah, I would love to see more of Fan Xian as the chess player who takes matter into his hands too!
Omg what's with all the scenes that were cut out excessively? I'm at episode 22 and can barely understand what's going on since they've cut so many scenes out! It seems like this whole arc is just being skipped. It's a shame because I love the story so far and wanted to watch this arc properly /: I really hope it gets better in the next episodes.
You know what? If you skip ALL the mother scenes + the scenes where the FL is getting stepped on by other people- then this dramas is very enjoyable! I was lucky enough to read the reviews early on and know that it doesn't get better with the mother (or not a lot better?), so I started skipping. Otherwise I would have kept watching the mother scenes hoping for some character growth. I feel like it could have been one of the best cdramas if not for this character, and the lack of backbone and awareness on the FL's part. So if you want to keep your peace of mind while watching, just skip all those scenes.
I just finished this and I confidently say I don't like Lin waner for Fan Xian. I say this because everyone in…
I mean yeah, in a real world setting it would've never worked between them. But it's not her fault there are jerks in her family. It's not even her whole family- Dabao is a pure sweetheart, and her dad takes him under his wing. I think she should be judged because of herself, not because of other people. Personally I would prefer FX to be with Saintess lol, But Wan'er is also nice in my opinion, and she genuinely loves him.
Dang AvenueX must really like this drama, she made like 3-4 videos about it and then puts it in the titles of…
I can't take her opinion seriously anymore, since 80% the reason she would rate a drama positively or negatively seem to be based on whether or not she likes the costumes, the "color pallette", the dubbing, the actors, etc. All the superficial things. Personally I watch dramas for the story, and all the rest is just an addition, not the main point. Haven't watched her reviews on this drama tho, so I can't comment on that.
I just came here to share how pretty darn lucky I feel, to have just recently watched the 1st season, so I could continue straight to the second one and didn't have to wait 4 yrs for it like many other fans. This series is frickin' brilliant, such a fun ride. Finished S2 a week ago and still can't move on.
Same! I expected it to be the next thing that I binge watch, but struggled to even get through the first few episodes. I found it very predictable too.
It was filmed in Late 2023 but bcs the director didn't buy adaptation rights from the author and the author isn't…
I just don't get why the author wouldn't to sell adaptation rights, even if it's after the drama is already filmed. I mean, it's in the author's best interests to have their novel filmed and gotten to know by as many people as possible! It's a shame that because some ego wars or whatever the reason is, we might not get to see it. :(
