Hmm I have a feeling the woman that likes to read is her mother. Walking along the hallway humming at night.
The thing is, she also slapped Ju-Ri out of nowhere and resorted to violence means similar to how Mun Yeong like to throw her temper tantrum. and she is the only one that does not believe in the ghost because all this time, she could be the one humming instead. It could also have been her that made those snick remarks on how mun yeong should not come to the hospital as she was choked by the father. But that's still a theory so we need more episodes.
A few people in here are upset over the hair cut but don't realize how IMPORTANT that haircut was to Moon Young…
A spoiler tag would be nice but overall, I also love her haircut which confirms the "school" picture to be true as leaked. It really does show progression in her character and her ability to move on forward. It also isn't a full haircut anyway since the hair still reached her shoulders and that to me, is long enough. So to those that is upset over it, please don't be.
unpopular opinion but I think joori's character is incredibly funny and really cute
Yeap, I mentioned this in the comments way back when everyone was disliking her and even called her "crazy" to which I don't believe is true because my sister acts just like her and is quite normal in fact. I usually laugh for her scenes and she fulfill a similar role to Jae Su whom I also laugh at even if he was crying XD. She adds so much to the story as a second lead and I don't believe a generic innocent second female lead would work in this show (without being jealous). We need someone that is two-faced like her to spice the drama up.
Am I the only one who thinks the hospital director is so underrated for how freaking funny he is? Dude really…
Although I am not sure how a real "hospital director would be ( guessing would be someone that is much more calm), I really love the way he acted his character because he did "healed" me in a way. The way they have written his character made him felt refreshing and have no prejudice against his own mentally ill patients makes me want to have him as my doctor if I do face similar problems. Kim Chang Wan really acted his character well and I can see why because I have seen his other variety show performance and he is just as chill as that doctor.
what's the moral of the bluebeard tale ? why did they make Sang Tae as the bluebeard man ? ._.
There are actually 2 morals that you can get from the Bluebeard tale. The original folktale which has the moral similar to what zanzouna have said where "curiosity kills the cat". Finding out the secret of an individual without permission may lead to the other partner hating you, in this case, Bluebeard kills his wife due to his trust in his wife being broken and she did it without consent.
The second moral are what the drama lean towards more has a happier take. There was a moment when Gang Tae and Sang Tae were lying on the bed in episode 6 where Gang Tae explains his point of view to Sang Tae about the Bluebeard story. Gang Tae have quoted saying that the reason why Bluebeard was isolated in that mansion was because the villagers do not like him as he is different from anyone else due to his name and appearance which is "Blue" beard (basically a beard dyed/grew in blue).
This causes people to think of him as a monster since he looks different appearance wise. So Sang Tae ask whether being different requires the villager to shun/avoid him? Gang Tae replied with, "No because Bluebeard just need to find the people that understands him, that love him for who he is, whether or not he has a beard that is blue in color, true love would still exist and there is bound to be someone that wants to live with him in the house." So the moral is, "Find someone that love you for who you are no matter how different you are from the normal individuals. Even if you have flaws, that person will still understand and accept you."
In the epilogue, Sang Tae visualize himself as Bluebeard is because Sang Tae has autistic spectrum disorder which makes him different from the normal functioning people. Thus, Sang Tae matches with Bluebeard for being different and isolated by society for their traits/weakness. Gang Tae who plays hunchback of notre dame actually was given this role for a reason too, In the original story, the main character was deformed since birth for having a "hunchback" and this represent the scars that Gang Tae have. This hunchback guy actually thought that only one person (Frollo) cared for him and would do anything he says (in this drama, Sang Tae). Frollo lust over a beautiful Gypsy girl named Esmeralda and requested hunchback guy to kidnap her (Sang Tae is a fan of KMY). Hunchback guy did successfully kidnap her but was caught and is punished even though he done it under Frollo's order (Gang Tae always do what is best for his hyung).
While he is punished, he was thirsty and wanted a drink but the crowd around him just spectate him, even getting scorn from others. That is until the lady Esmeralda seeing him being thirsty and went to fetch water for him to drink (KMY trying to save/free Gang tae away from Sang Tae). Then, hunchback guy have fallen in love with Esmeralda (MGT x KMY).
After that, Frollo caught Esmeralda having an affair with another person (not hunchback guy) and so tried to murder that person where he then frames Esmeralda for attempted murder (Sang Tae sorta making KMY look bad since she forced him to stay with her in her home when it is also Sang Tae's own desire to do so). Esmeralda is now set to be hanged to death for attempted murder but before she is hanged, she was saved by hunchback guy (Gang Tae accepts KMY and "saves" her).
So Frollo=BlueBeard=Sang Tae because the ending also had Frollo being successful in executing Esmeralda where Blue Beard executed his Wife thus being equaled to Mun Yeong who plays these characters in the epilogue. Gang tae who plays Quasimodo (hunchback guy) initially kidnapped and brought KMY to Bluebeard but then he tried to save KMY after seeing the potential execution. He didn't succeed and KMY died from the execution which is similar to how the hunchback of notre dame ended. So the epilogue is a fusion between https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunchback_of_Notre-Dame + https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluebeard + Drama story . The end XD
can anyone tell me if this drama has a lot of romance or if it’s the main point?
Romance does play a big role in the drama but it isn't the typical kind where one male kiss another female immediately. It's taking time and brewing a strong tension between the leads where we all are rooting for them. The chemistry of the leads are really good and visually pleasing.
Is this actually THAT good or is it just fan girl hype?
If it helps. I am not a fan girl but more of a fan boy so yeah... It depends on what you are looking for. If you liked what you saw in Hotel Del Luna to which I always compared this drama's vibe to that, then I am sure you will like this as well.
I feel bad that I am in the minority here but no matter how much I tried getting into this drama, I really don't…
It's fine actually so don't force something you don't like onto yourself. It's great you at least gave it a chance and did not resort to just "toxic" criticism which I have seen in the past made by commentators for other drama to which I don't believe those are the right moves. Critique are more welcomed as we all wish for people to know the main reason why we doesn't like the drama to which you share some and I appreciate it! Thanks!
I'm actually surprised to see negative comments about KSH's acting. Well, we all have different preferences and…
They could have seen him for having a more "stiffer" expression similar to how I perceive Lee Min Ho and Idols acting usually have. Although I much prefer Kim Soo Hyun's acting because I can see his eyes gives out a hidden message which I detects. His inner turmoil brewing when he grits his teeth and his eyes trembling. I cried for some of his scene in this drama as well. Hence, I believe people can like/dislike his acting because acting is a subjective topic which no true answer. It depends on whether you like a "loud-direct" approach or a milder-indirect approach to which Kim SooHyun excel in the "milder" side. I like that acting from him more so I stand on the "like" side.
Just a thought, but maybe this drama really isn't for you only because everything you listed as dislikes are the…
Oh hahaha, I didn't get to read your comment before I typed my in reply to his. But yeah, my comments have some of the same meaning as yours but with my own additional insights/opinion. I didn't talked about my preference for Kim soo hyun acting since I understand why others would not like his acting due to how stiff his face can be. Similar to Lee Min Ho acting in my eyes. Although, I have seen a number of Kim Soo Hyun Acting and realized I prefer him over Lee Min Ho because I like the emotions he potrays with his eyes. I have cried a few times already for this drama on his scene and I can see his inner turmoil even when he don't show it outwardly. Like the way he grit his teeth, his eyes trembling and how he stares away. Thus, I like his acting overall and I also understand why others would dislike it.
Personal toughts up till ep 6 ( i just watched the 6 first episodes these past 2 days ) :-As i said earlier here…
Personally, I find the big brother actor doing a good job representing an autistic individual because there isn't that many representation of such a character in Kdrama. Mostly what I saw are either the high functioning savants (Good doctor) or autistic individual that is shed a negative light on (When my Camellia Bloom, the butcher boy). Moon Sang Tae is a character that has been shed with a more positive light where the things around him become alive. In Episode 2 on his journey to the autograph session of the Female Lead, I felt his pure joy of his acting and didn't exactly made me felt flat but anyone can have their own preferences. In Episode 6, I remember him simply just saying hi to the Dolls and just his voice tones/facial expression makes me smile.
For the writing, I prefer the gloomy tone because the theme of the drama lies in the saying of "Waking up from the fairytale/dream and live in the reality." If I wanted something brighter, there is plenty of Kdrama like that yet darker tone kdrama is in the minority. The darker tone fits well when the Tim Burton style animation adds to the mystery of the show. I believe up to episode 6 that I have watched, there is many moments where the gloomy tone was blown away like clouds, where we can see FL saving ML or ML saving FL. An even more gloomy writing would be like My Mister as an example which is set in a office environment, that to me are a true gloomy story yet one of the best Kdrama out there. I agree with the points about being extreme since I know this would not have happened like that in reality but we can slightly forgive it and enjoy it due to separating fictional stories with reality.
The action moving jumping sequence are quite innovative from what I have seen so far since I usually see "freeze-frame" type sequence instead which doesn't make sense. For example, in episode 6 when MGT were walking down that dark leafy road, his younger self was running behind him in the same dark path and then it transitioned smoothly into a bright snowy environment with MGT as a divider. Or in Episode 2 in the first 10 min, we see a transition where a miniature bus stopping in traffic turned into a bigger bus with MGT inside.
I don't think the "ghost" actually creates much confusion due to how I observed the ghost as like a "mental demon" rather than being a true being. The sleep paralysis scene where she have seen the "ghost" are in fact what I have experienced exactly in my lifetime and many other individuals share the same experience. The "ghost" being on top and immobilizing her movement is a good representation of how I felt. Even the choking scene of the ghost on FL's dad was a representation of how a mentally ill patient feels when they got choked. Trauma is strong and displaying with "ghost" shows us viewer a better, more visually appealing and understanding POV of these individuals.
The patients of the hospital is underwhelming for me as of now too other than the Manic disorder rich boy in episode 3 whom I cried for. I do hope we get to know more of the patient's story thus we can only wait for more reveals.
I love this show! The only complaint I have is the ML telling the FL her face is emotionless when this boy been…
I don't think ML was criticizing FL for having a face that is emotionless, rather it is what she felt inside her heart. KMY does seems to show outwardly a number of emotion but deep inside, she does not know how she actually feel. She outwardly show that she is angry when MGT is slapped but MGT ask for a reason to which she didn't know exactly. She says she love him but it is true? She have shown that she questioned herself as to whether that is the reason by contemplating on his remark.
I think ML is designed to not show reaction/emotion since he works as a caregiver. It is by nature that he can't show emotion and should always be calm due to how the job which deals with mentally ill patient requires him to. Remember the scene where Ju-ri got slapped, she could not show that she was angry from that slap. I feel that ML repressed his emotion more rather than outwardly shows it while our FL show emotion that is empty on the inside.
I see slowly hints that they are glamorizing/normalizing the behavior of the FL though. MY is having GT in an…
Since I like how the drama is going, I felt the need to write more so that I can do this drama justice and since I need to wait until Saturday/Sunday, might as well spend more time sharing my perspective to open up someone's view. I learn at the same time in developing my critical/logical/literature thinking too so nothing goes wasted and is all beneficial to me.
