Well, when he plays the flute is it cgi flute or real flute because while playing it, it seems that the mouth…
As someone who can play a variety of wooden flutes...that embouchure isn't going to make any notes aside from air lol. The position on the lower lip is also way too far for any direct air flow to hit the flute properly.
Now I really strongly believe avenue x got prejudice against Wang Xing Yue and she probably hated the first impression…
I remember watching some video of hers stating that she would never watch any Yu Zheng productions bc of his plagiarism track record, but she watched this one anyway π€·ββοΈ I appreciate her film industry knowledge, and I generally agree with her opinions on shows, but yes she can be overly negative. Imo each show should be judged within the standards of their target audience, but she expects perfection from everything. That's why she's burnt out and watching/doing reviews for the sake of just doing them. Look, I know I'm not going to be watching any golden classic, and the cast here wanted to provide entertainment and delivered their A-game. Why complain? π
I was saying this to some friends too! I believe we're in the minority of the female lead, but I absolute adored…
haha, glad I could help. If only! I feel like only recently have we been starting to see more progressive themes, e.g. Faithful so fingers crossed for "ugly heroine" ones that aren't played up as a joke!
I hate how they're all treating LZD like they know what's best for him without considering how he actually feels. Thankfully judging from the trailers, it seems like he'll get a good word in.
I loved the show I just canβt understand why everyone kept crying lol. They were there for a few days and I…
Being isolated with no outside access or outside human communication combined with difficult, high-stakes games creates extreme stress. People get much more attached to each other, and eliminations probably pulls on their stress and emotions more.
Winter depression is a thing irl with people too, so imagine being inside for a whole week with artificial light doing stressful things. Watching a show like this is one thing, but I wouldn't want to participate in one lol. I wouldn't be surprised if some actually developed depression from one of these.
No, PR is an idiot. Losing 30,000 elite soldiers have already shaken the foundation of the Chen Dynasty. It takes…
Nah, I'm not saying she's some genius or that she made the right choices. People have a tendency to think short-term, and that was the decision she made considering her present circumstances. She clearly prioritized the messing up the empress dowager plot and her ascent to power over anything else. The move to leak info and wipe out an elite army had far-reaching consequences which put the Chen in a weaker position for negotiation.
A Machiavellian way also has a negative connotation. First Google search and "cunning, scheming, and unscrupulous" pop up. That's direct from how The Prince reads. It's goal-oriented and amoral. This is clearly the princess. No matter how she rationalizes it, it's power first sacrifices be damned. That is a machiavellian. That doesn't mean they make choices that are objectively better, but that they make choices that they think are better.
Queen Elizabeth I is a fine example of a wise and pragmatic ruler, I agree. Amoral though? Not necessarily. She didn't burn down other religious people like Mary did. She's more pragmatic, and diplomatic compared to the Machiavellian extremes.
The Chinese historical pattern is full of "you're getting invaded" or "your internal conflict is going to get you invaded". The political philosophy is very state-centric - whatever dynasty it is conflated with the personal ruler, i.e., the son of heaven. It's an aspiration to rule and control that is difficult to match in reality. If there are 16 kingdoms fighting each other, you want someone who will get things done no matter the cost. Of course, there is the risk of the aftermath being a Dong Zhuo/tyrant afterward. That's up for debate. The princess to me, however, seems more like the legalist sort once she establishes her reign. Who knows.
We can argue all day about her choices, but you can't say she isn't complex. An idiot is more what I'd describe the empress dowager as lol.
Also, Machiavellian is kind of a misnomer because the actual Machiavelli was an ancient democracy/republican sort of bro. The Prince won him eternal infamy, for good or for worse.
I love antagonists like the princess that are hard to outright label as "evil". Cold, calculating, and Machiavellian. Her actions are morally grey and make us think hard about her character.
When she made her first character appearance I thought, "Oh no, this is going to be one of those obvious delusional villains out to kill Ding over her dead lover types." But I was pleasantly surprised by this story's take. Her mother's death and a succeeding lust for power and control make sense.
As a ruler, she'd probably be best suited for chaotic periods like the current one. The crown prince is also a good candidate after being polished with some maturity, experience, and good guidance. They are both decisive in their decisions, but the difference between them is that the princess thinks that the ends will justify the means. She won't hesitate to let another 30,000 soldiers go to their deaths if she thinks that will accomplish some objective or let some 100,000 civilians live. Knowing that warfare in ancient China easily took tens of millions of lives, what does a number of 30,000 mean to her? A very interesting character study.
They have tweaked the second couple scenes and its a lot better. In OG 2001 version the SML basically tried to…
That didn't happen in the OG 2001 version though? Literally the same lines except he was bathing in the lake beforehand and was questioning her. And she literally suffocated him to knock him out instead of using powder lol
