Don't get the below comment. Lots of drama included. That and the crime background give it a clear storyline. Sammo and Donnie in a fight scene of course it's great. Donnie has said for years that he wants more real in fight scenes. Hence the heavy MMA style contact in the big show down. He is a world class MMA fighter now. The ending is not predicatable.
Ha Ji Wan is great in all movies/series (That I have seen). I'd watch this just to see her eyes and listen to her talk.
Beyond that - the cast is good and delivers. The directing is good. The writing is just like many of the Alien inspired movies - no better, no worse. Unlike many people that just rave about Alien, it's just an average first born of the genre. Ridley/Weaver isn't famous for any other reason. Alien had an all-star? cast. Alien the "series" is milked to the point it makes the original boring. The ending in Sector 7 is miles better than Alien. This is something kdrama gets right, time after time over Hollywood's lame endings.
You might notice when you're watching this - released in 2011. Here is my challenge - watch 4 Asian dramas/action/sf series and 4 Asian action/sf movies from 2011 - then compare it to it's contemporaries.
I give this a 7.5 - fx is standard for 2010/2011. OST is good. Critter is a bit substandard but get beyond that and it fits into the narrative.
Lee is No 4 on my top ten. Fan since I first saw her in Jang Bo Ri, 2014. Now I have finally got access to this show. Jang Bo Ri, her opposite is Oh Yeon Seo, my No 1. In this show my No 4 is x2. Damn good story with superb cast and acting. I am at ep 43 and I am sitting here watching this with my heart in my throat. Kdrama and their twists and turns sometimes get it perfect. The children are perfect casting. Oh no! Oh man I am gonna be up for hours binging this. Oh jeez this is heart breaking.
Lee is doing the thing again. The character from Jang Bo Ri. Only this time she is the anti-hero you cheer for. Meanwhile Park Ha Na is pulling off the perfect mean spoiled, longing and sorrowful character. Just like Lee in Jang Bo Ri - spoiled brat bullying the poor victim - growing into an obsessed maniac - then to someone I now pity. But, booom, evil again just like that. Losing her mind going to burn down the whole cast. Don't give up though. She'll get your pity back at the end.
Speaking of cast - marvelous. All talented and totally selling their character. Got it all - evil stepfamily - loving mom(s) many - on and on. This is heavy drama with all mains basically near living in dread or anger. The writing is imposing and directing got it all right. Underrated. I am banging an 8.5. I am kinda mixed on how to view this show - binge it like I was or slow down and look forward to the time I stop and watch 4 or 5 episodes. On episode 93 just 9 to go. I will go slow. I so enjoy Lee Yoo Ri screen time. I am also really getting into Song Jong Ho. Seen him in a few shows. I can say for sure he is killing this roll.
24 hours later - dang I tried. Finished. LOVE it. Last 2 episodes are on a different level of misery and emotions. Wanna know a secret - I even got teary eyed for the evil doom bringer Yeon Ae. Yea it is good. Different ending than I guessed, nice twist.
The cast is beautiful, handsome, dashing, sexy, and good. I want to take them to Jeju Island, drop them onto a restaurant motel on the beach. Two families and a cousin. Secret rendezvous, goofy guests, weird village, a little stealing from the till. Some fun so this cast can smile and laugh and just shine the fun side.
Next season just has to bring the same cast. Oh is my favorite kdrama actress, Tae is awesome, and Lee is great. Good show, good flow, and a catch it all ending. Kinda have to see this in the style it is delivered. The A-Team type crew. Brilliant lead Song/Kang and all the right stuff for support. A dab of geek, a splash of machismo, and two lovelies. I didn't watch season 1. Ain't gonna. No need. This is a standalone boot for more. I am here because of Oh Yeon Seo. And it worked great for me. If she is back I am too.
Probably just my taste. The story did not have a flow. Kinda thought to thought, scene to scene. I did not connect with the characters, just not developed so it lacked, for me, personal investment in the concept. I like a story or show that sets the reason for the players and gives them depth and motivation for what they are trying to do. This just did not give me that vibe. I also am quick to dump. I don't have to watch 3 or 4 episodes to decide there is something better to use my viewing time with.
I love Ishihara Satomi that is why i came to watched this... I love her. About the story though... Hmmmm.. this…
Thank you for marking this spoiler. Too common for comments from some that wouldn't care. I do find your comments strongly invested in some of the storyline and players. So I am going to add this to watch list.
Lots of yes to your questions, but maybe with a not so predictable way. It is worth your time to finish. I thought episode 12-14 got a bit slow, but it cranks up nicely.
Better than rated here. Viki gives 9+. I think 8.5 is fair. A couple of the episodes have a little slow to them, but over all good pace. As k-drama does better than most, last 2 episodes really are great.
This show and Oh are the reason I started watching K-tv. She is #1 on my fav asian actors list.
Have watched all her kdrama and movies (As main fl except one movie and one series I cannot seem to find). Watched her in Get It Beauty and her running man episodes. Watched many hours of her cosmetic videos and interviews. Watched her fan meetings. Watched her speech and fan meeting for the K Humane Society. Read everything, I could find. Contributed to bio on mdl. I share your bias for Oh. I really like the video of her doing driving in the parking lot. It's for Koreans that don't drive; like us doing mini cart driving on the weekend. I also like the interview she did about changing her name with her mom and a shaman advice. Look up her music videos. She can't sing. Followed her on Instagram, albeit it doesn't get the traffic her Korea/Asian version of Instagram gets, but I can't read the comments. On her Instagram I commented the Made For Each Other hit close to home for me. Have been Jun Woo's character. Angry cop in a little trouble. Got a heart response. NOT a freak, me. Just she really got to me emotionally (?) thru Princess Hye Mung. So, I got curious. And now I watch kdrama/mdl tv almost exclusively. So, I am going to take you up on the friend request. Check her on leader board. #16. Check the flower donors.
This drama represents the epitome of wasted potential. It's only slightly less awful than Nothing Uncovered. Thus…
Too funny. I just dropped Nothing Uncovered and started this. Don't give up on finding good stuff. I have watched thousands of good mdl drama episodes.
Second. BS BS BS
Third. That is the noise your brain makes while you dribble BS BS BS.
