I kinda remember seeing in a trailer that he's marrying someone else too...is that right? Or is FL imagining it?…
He didn’t marry anyone else in the novel. He was supposed to marry FL’s cousin but FL convinced her to let her go in her place. Though the SFL played the perfect green tea in order to marry him, but our FL was really smart.
gu dong Mae - is he a bad guy in this drama? If yes, I'd like to watch this drama.
He’s morally grey, he’s also my favorite character in the drama. He’s not your typical bad guy, Infact he’s one of the best written characters in the dramaThis is one of Yoo Yeon Seok’s best roles yet!
I'm thinking about to watch this drama, but I'm not sure yet.Can someone please let me know, what this drama is…
It’s a wonderful drama with well written characters. The story centers around the life of certain individuals during Japan’s occupation of Korea. You have to watch this! I’ve watched it twice already!
I know many will hate me for this... But I have to say it. I have quite high standard for dramas and have serious…
This director, Guo Jiming is known to be kinda misogynistic to female characters in most of his dramas. He tends to make them rather two dimensional…they’re either too weak and need saving, like Wen Xiao. Funny enough the same actress played the mother of the ML in MJTY, where she was always depressed and such a cry baby. He also tends to make them be wicked or nasty or have some evil agenda like Pei jiejie, he did the same in MJTY..it’s always the females that are the assassins or spies. He did the same thing in his movie Dream of Eternity, the female lead is weak and the vessel for some terrible evil snake, she needed saving all the time even though she was a princess, one of the villians in the movie was the Queen mother. it’s worse here in FoF, there’s no single female character with a redeeming quality, our FL is obviously just there so that the drama will pass screening and not seem like a bl drama. She really has no special traits. I don’t know, it’s like Guo Jiming has a personal vendetta against women.
I dropped this drama at episode 19. I’m sorry , but this isn’t the revenge themed drama we were promised. We have a ML who trained an assassin to stage an assasination attempt on himself to kick start his revenge plan, and a FL lead who literarily had to crawl on her belly if it meant killing the supposed murderer of her parents. Now they have all the time to go frolicking in the country side with villagers. What pisses me off the most is the 180 they did on Murong Jing He’s character. MJH is a pretty grey character, he isn’t inately evil, but the tragedy he went through eroded the brighter sides of his nature, so now he’d do anything to further his revenge plans. He was willing to sacrifice Mei Lin’s life from the get go. The assasin squad he started underwent brutal training, Mei Lin included. He has sent her on missions to kill people and even recruit any little children that survived to join his group. Now they’re holding hands and playing a couple in the country side? I didn’t see much conflict on his end when realizing that he had fallen for his pawn, considering what he put her through. After the assasination attempt on his life at the hunting grounds, the genre changed to rom-com. This is a serious underutilization of Liu Xue Yi as an actor because I know that he can pull off this grey type characters well. I think I’ll just stick with Fangs of Fortune to get my fill of Chinese costume drama.
I couldn’t go on with this drama after episode 20. it’s like after episode 14, the drama changed genre to become some silly rom-com, but I was promised a revenge fueled drama. The 180 they did on Liu Xue Yi’s character is what pisses me off the most. Murong Jing He is a grey character. He isn’t inately bad and he certainly isn’t some goody-two-shoes, I mean this dude was ready to sacrifice the FL once he was done with her as a pawn. Liu Xue Yi can certainly carry out the role of a grey toned anti-hero to a tee. After the attempted assasination at the hunting grounds, next thing we know, we’re in some quaint village frolicking with villagers, as if this wasn’t the same man who literarily trained someone to kill him, as if this wasn’t the same woman who crawled on her belly to kill the supposed murderer of her family. This drama lacks consistency and has become boring. I’m dropping this, I think I’ll stick with Fangs of Fortune for my fill of Chinese costume drama.
Indeed! Song Mo is described as a very handsome man, with delicate features, gentle, slim, graceful, with a smile…
Precisely! I think they are both well cast. My only concern is how they will show Dou Zhao as a toddler, or will they skip the entire rebirth thing since it’s banned in Chinese dramas.
I just began reading the novel, and I can’t wait for this adaptation! Someone on this platform said that Wu Lei would have been a better ML because the character Song Mo is involved in some military stuff, but I beg to differ. Song Mo is described as having a beautiful face, maybe even looking delicate like a scholar, so I think Li Yunrui fit this character to a Tee. He can be cold to others, but is act very gentle to those he cares about. He only turned out the way he did in the past life because of his father’s nasty betrayal. I also think the female lead is also well cast. I need this drama to air soon!
