yeah.. that's why movies and dramas often provide false hope and delusional fantasies LOL And vice versa... sometimes life is a lot crazier low-chance event that you could ever imagine...

Ah there is Idol I, with its deep dialogue and deep social commentary... and No tails to Tell with its totally rowdy comedy.... and even To my Beloved Thief, with its equisite dialogues and tight plot.... and even a sticky realistic melodrama Love Me... and all those have *excellent* acting.... so... the competition is steep :) and I am glad!!!! So many great choices, long live kdramas!!!!

That is true and not true :) you know why? bc we all get delusional and thins WE are the right person and then we get dragged down by this insufferable parasite... who is NOT changing LOL and we think - oh it just takes time... and then... 10, 20, 30 years later... we realize the time expired LOL

Ji Sung acting style is to exaggerate ... He acts the inner hidden feelings of his character, he shows what a normal person WOULD behave like if there were no limits, i.e. how they would LIKE to behave if they could, but they cannot so they restrain themselves to honor the social norms... He behaves to show the inner emotional state, so it is always amplified over the top acting and it creates comedy

I will always remember him sitting on the sofa next to his evil fatjher in law and fidgeting and rolling his eyes in fear... LMAO

I think ratngs are meaningful in some sense - it is a measure of one particular group. Viki Ratings tend to be realistic, MDL ratings tend to be "what teenagers voted for" etc So you have to know the audience. But for some dramas, it is kinda universal.
So yeah ratings ar super iffy but still somewhat useful imo.

indeed, this is the value of a good script - to show that and not let the drama drag... to pick to show JUST THE RIGHTS MOMENTS that demonstrate that... That is hard.
Also, the mastery is showing the happy end BEFORE the drama ends, so that we can see the characters take 2 steps back and then finally make it to a real happy end. When I see the main couple getting married in the last 2 minutes of drama i am thinking omg we never got to see the true test, how they gonna live after the wedding

I am thinking of masterful kmovie Family by Choice where the drama takes literally ONE scene to convey how wickedly selfish FL is. Her kid is drawing something to give her and she is ignoring it and going to a meeting... something like that. I just remember the scene, the kid under the staircase and mom looking totally blaze ... and leaving. That was literally 2 minutes that totally busted the good image FL had created, it explained that character and set the stage.

Ppl who vote the most reviews are youngsters, who inherently suffer from hormones, so they will vote for TMI skinship, kisses, and violence. Also there are paid trolls from competition

Gumiho had lots of voice over in ep 1 about the human condition .... and her unethical way of making money out of it...
and the idea MONEY CAN BUY YOU EVERYTHING... until it clashes with the Law of Heaven...

Gumiho and deity talked about duties of Gumihos, the Law of heaven and karmic consenquences for Gumihos and this rogue criminal one in particular...

and yeah we saw WHY and how she was punished and how she had to fix her karma...

That scale where she sees her current karmic standing... is a POWERFUL concept... She has to do good deeds or else the Heavens will just cancel her existence... DO you think that law holds only for Gumihos?

Soccer player had no wishes He was happy with his life. How many ppl are?

2ML had a terrible misfortune and how did he handle it?

Soccer player got beaten up bc someone else bribed the coach and moved up... but then... bc of Gumiho... it all changed...

This theme of human fragility yet immense power, and influence of the Heavens on human life... is a very very very powerful concept

and learnng about the fragility of human condition... one car accident, your dreams and life are over... one Gumiho whim... and your life is over.. .. or soaring... .

and so on and on and on and on!!!!

Hey ya all, this drama has a great potential and should be a global hit if it continues like this.

Someone should start posting parts of ep 1 and 2 on tik tok... Therr are so many HILARIOUS scenes... If you have the time and know how, share those brilliant moments...

Like... when he holds her and she opens the tails... After fast travel, standing there asking her what it was - he was sooo polite yet indicating he saw something cooky LOL his face was sooo funny.... Then holding her hand and asking her for more and she fluttering.. that was a hilarious scene too.
Then the killer getting out of the car to confess.. LMAO I was rolling laughing LOL

So. the plot is very simple: gumiho has powers yet has to self cultivate to become a human. If gumiho misuses her powers, she gets punished. like.. loses her powers. *** THIS IS A SIMPLE LAW OF KARMA, CAUSE AND EFFECT, YOU SHALL REAP WHAT YOU SOW. **** DO YOU GET IT THIS FAR? If not, there is no hope for you :)

This gumiho is an unethical rogue and kinda misuses her powers too much... .so she gets punished...

This gumiho likes money and leeches off rich ppl and grants their wishes for money... She really should NOT be doing that... but she continues... and causes messes. SO FAR SO GOOD?

So the plot is very simple: gumiho's life gets tangled up with 2 soccer friends .... bc gumiho's business partner injures one of the friends and kills one more person - and gumiho is stuck fixing it karmicaly. DO YOU GET THAT?

If you understood this far, then you see the real story.

The trick here is that we are dealing with the spiritual / magical world and in there... things happen fast LOL and are unpredictable and fickle ...

and it is all to show us how FRAGILE human condition is. just like Gumiho said...

and so you have to watch this with a certain open mind and a sense o compassion, then you will get the comedy and the issues :)

I am a totally independent art nerd and I LOVE QUALITY. When I see something good, I will say it, when I see something bad, I will say it. I 100% believe tht Can This Love Be Translated is 100% trash fake kdrama - yeah FL and Hiro are excellent actors but the drama overall is TRASH FAKE KDRAMA
and I 100% belive tht this drama is a real kdrama and sooooo creative deep fun.
