I love the movie The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared - bc he found a suitcase full of cash - it is a thriller crazy comedy from Sweden

And currently Mad Concrete Dreams has some of the crazy vibe, but it is a LOT worse, it is a full blown thriller that is mind boggling. It started as comedy of absurdity but then made a fast U turn that was TOTALLY unexpected. Check it out

I love kdramas bc they mix different concepts so well

I understand now what this reminds me of..... YOu know that children's song how the farmer wanted to pull a big root.... so he cannot... so his wife hangs on him to help pulling... then the kids, the horse, the cow, etc etc all come to join in the pulling, and inally, whn the mouse joins in pulling, they pull the root.

So in this drama various characters one by one decide to join in the "pulling" and then new characters join, attracted via the connection with those already pulling... It is like a magnet.... like a black hole sucking them all in - bc once they step in, they end up dead or killing someone... or like a crazy hurricane growing and throwing everyone around... IT IS TOTALLY ... well... MASTERFUL SCRIPT .. ...

I NEVER SAW THIS COMING. This is a masterful twist that happens in ep 4. That is why I watch kdramas patiently bc they often take a U turn like that and it is WOOOOWWWWWW ride....

well - that is true for you :) and knife is true for me :) I find peeler hard to clean bc it has the grooves so I actually have to swipe it.. I do not dare touch the blade to clean it... . and knife, I just put under water for a second :) and maybe run my fingers to clean it :)
Also, I have to use knife to cut anyways, so I am too lazy to be swapping tools and washing two tools instead of one :)

I am just saying this bc cooks can have preferences :) and it is all ok. Peeler salesman love you :) Peelers are great too.

First Man - MBC - revenge by normal healthy ppl while lovey doveying and living their lives as normal as possible. There is crime murder etc but not toooo much and there are very few scenes of irrational screaming, crying, exploding, etc It is essentially a family drama that tries to solve the underlying crime that harmed the family

Our Happy Days - KBS1 - ? comedy.. ?

Pearl in Red - KBS2 - all-consuming revenge of really badly wounded ppl, lots o screaming, crying, explosions, lots of violence and drama. Luckily the leads are essentially good ppl so this doesnt turn into the cesspool of EVERYONE as a muddy greedy slimey monster like A Graceful Liar was.... . AGL was totally toxic. Luckily Perl in Red is not toxic. although it is cringe very often and the overall vibe is SUFFERING but the overall feeling is not toxic bc ML FL are rather sophisticated people and the actors can act decently, unline AGL where the FL was majorly dumb and greedy and the actress lacked any acting skills.

and family drama Recipe for Love - KBS2 - comedic warm vibe, slice of normal life, healthy ppl witih some long standing issues btween the 2 families and within each family, some crime and harming each other but not too much, there is no violence shown

me too. If you search the web for "enpowered FL in kdramas" The Glory comes up as "mastermind revenge" but imo a revenge does not qualify as "enpowerment" it is FAKE enpowerment, it qualifies as a skilled mean coldblooded destroyer LOL so I would not list it here

It is great to see a list like that, and it can become many smaller lists with separate focus. I think the list needs to be updated and expanded. I have seen this list before. Imo it needs to be updated, as new dramas keep coming out. Also, the original list does not show enough kdramas. I am not sure if you are set on just high profile women as role models - there is enpowernment to be seen in female roles that are lower key

I don't remember details of Red Lantern anymore, I watched it zillion years ago, but I DO remember being horrified about the subjugation of women and dirty fights between enslaved women to climb up by being closer to their slave-master husband. How can THAT drama be on this enpowerment list?? I did not see it as a "female enpowerment" movie at all. To me it is equivalent to the Turkish series Suleiman The Magnificent and the story of Roxana. It is super slimey dark and awful HAREM story, just like the Red Lantern.
TO ME, HAREM WOMEN ARE **NOT** ROLE MODELS FOR ENPOWERMENT bc the only thing they can do is manipulate the harem owner - often by sexual charms - and dirty scheme to destroy other women in the harem. It is always creepy and disgusting. So no thanks to Red Lantern...

The Glory is not about enpowerment, it is about revenge. Sure it is mastermind revenge so the Web lists it as enpowernment. But.... what kind of power is revenge???? So I am not sure it belongs on this list. i would say it does NOT. S Korea has many more dramas that showcase woman in a better light, I listed some on the top of this post.

Mad Concrete Dreams turned into an AMAZING thriller in ep 4. It is a total masterpiece. The rug was pulled under the audience and EVERYTHING TURNED OUT TO BE DIFFERENT THAN IT SEEMED. Ppl should watch this amazing unique drama, and it should have much higher ratings.
