Anyone can be strong and silent but when it goes overboard, it is a trap :) It makes it look cool to stay silent and keep secrets and not share about how he feels, i.e. propagates John Wayne emotionally detached male stereotype :) And that justifies men dying at the battlefield or at a corporate desk, never saying a word.... never allowing themselves to feel pain or cry... which is a form of emotional slavery.
A real man feels and expresses. In a manly way, bc he is a not a woman - who is a lot more complex LOL but a real man is extremely sensitive and self aware. In the yang, there must be yin, for balance...

ML character is interesting and the actor is interesting. The contrast between the puppy eyes always caring for FL and then the cold blooded killer. So what is it that makes him attractive? He is competent, dedicated, loyal, caring, protective, gentle, etc. always there for FL, when it is time to kiss, or be safe, or talk, or take action.
But he is in a very rare profession and rather .. hm... too stoic bc of it... . and he does not talk about himself. I think that is why many men will find him so appealing - he provides a way out of real intimacy LOL

So what is the everyday equivalent of Paik? A guy who can fix stuff around the house, who always does his half of house and family chores, brings money home, can shut up any bullies like .. bad neighbors, etc, i.e he can navigate the social scene, is loyal, dedicated, etc and also stays in shape and keeps the romance alive. THAT part is where most ordinary men and women will fail bc it takes a lot of effort.
So I would say it is quite possible to become a Paik on a small ordinary scale, IF YOU PUT THE EFFORT that Paik did...
and if you add to Paik and become a person with an open heart able to FEEL a wide range of emotions and express them
Paik can feel a lot, he loves MJ, and he shows it with action. But he is still not someone who shares about himself. If he did, that would make him totally perfect :)

FL actress is pretty and acts well. Except for her always-whispering-dramatic voice, I can totally see why ppl find her attractive.
What makes the ML attractive?

Ditto to that. For example, essentially stealing homes and condos under pretense of law is epidemic in the USA and there is no protection from the law, as developers have money

This is not a show on character development, but on flashy shocking events and generating empty adrenaline rushes. Western style :)

and outside too.... remember JH and 2ML and the cafe girl all peeking from some .. walls? fence? someting like that when EH took the brother out of that cafe and he kept yelling at her out in the park

he is super competent and so caring and loyal to MJ - and he likes her with those puppy eyes - that is his charm... He is like a big black lab or St Bernard who fast tunrs into a german sheppard following her around making sure she is safe

well so far Paik survived his own life... full of danger... so perhaps he can survive our spoiled brat security oblivious FL As for he wanting him to prove himself - he already did. I hope he gets on that boat and lives a long and happy life. I think my main question is - CAN he retire from his past jobs? Or someone will always find him...

ML's sister.... who wants to marry ...... you know the rest :)

thought a lot why it is exciting.... there is a LOT of plot and twists, all the time, and it is always high stakes, ah so serious, so INTENSE, ah so death and life every second.... this drama is like being in an emergency room on Friday night after all the drunk/drugged driving and accidents.... you dont know where to work first as everyone is at critical state...
So THAT is adrenaline pumping... it is always live or die INTENSE... no pause to breathe....

and ML is always ah so competent and protective and loyal and sexy, and FL is a hero in her own right and also ah so competent and based on integrity and sexy, and the two of them are magnetically pulled although they come from two different worlds,
So it is very high adrenaline tension all the time... . That is why only 9 episodes. It would be very hard to keep this pace longer. In an emergency room, we get different cases so you can mke 50 episodes out of it... Here .. you could make more episodes only if they go to war... or if this war situation keeps lasting... But... the bad guys are gonna get caught OR ml/fl will escape so the story will be over LOL
In terms of character growth, we see ML going from a coldblooded killer to a caring man deeply in liove - I think - and FL from a naive cold chick to a hot smart chick who had to give up a lot of deldelusions and grow up fast.... So the immense transforamtion and two unlikely ppl coming together is also exciting...
But ... this drama is sooooo serious... No comedy... No lilight, peaceful, calm moments...... no happiness.... It is an emergency room setup.... !
And... this is all pie in the sky. I want to watch ordinary ppl doing such amazing things too. Like... Shin's Project :) Or even My Troublesome Star...

This drama does not make me feel good and does not leave me feeling upflited and happy. It is a roller coaster that drains my adrenal glands LOL I feel so much better after I watch Shin's Project bc the vibe there is lighter, more tragicomical, and up even if it is some grossly serious stuff, and so fun to watch... compared with dark murky serious Paik.... and always dramatically whispering MJ.... The couple here is 1000% drama, nothing else, everything is so INTENSE

I guess it is ok as an excursion into their world for a little bit... but ... ppl must be dying from heart attacks in their world LOL it is soooo INTENSE .... ....

I thought a lot why this drama seems so exciting to ppl ...
