This kdrama is a flop for sure and we wonder where that goes. Watch How Netflix Ruined Kdramas nd Epidemic of MicroDramas on youtube for some ideas.... Netflix and Disney influence has watered kdramas down, leading to 8 and 12 episodes - so the plot HAS to be more shallow and simple - and too many SEASON 2 dramas, and dilluting the content to suit the Western audience (more car chases, car driving, violence, skinship, choppy bombastic scenes, western food, drink, furniture, bleached hair, white powdered faces, western clothes, etc etc etc etc)
and then the disaster scripts - Chinese short verticals trashy scripts (here is a list of tropes, pick a random order of tropes and pick the names for the characters and voila! the script is done) and regular dramas paying like $300 per episode for the script and then almost-free AI scripts... It is hard to find a good script.
So I am seeing the slow death of kdramas and it is alarming. Within 5 years, they might be extinct. I REALLY hope that Koreans dont lose it. Bc I confirmed by testing, nobody else makes such fine dramas.... And I think that is why this movement to kill them. Kdramas are too good and lead to people thinking more and working together more and no troll likes that. I think the only solution is FIGHTING!
I love kdramas and that is mostly what I watch bc they are most sophisticated, nuanced, lighthearted yet deep, super creative, and comical in so many ways but still compassionate and warm... and there are so many good ones, right now I am watching Undercover Miss Hong and a few other excellent ones, even dailies like First Man and Pearl in Red and weekend Recipe or Love are just amazing, so complex and very organically Korean, so creative, very "local" and NOT plasticized.... See, the trick to seeing some great actors is dailies and weekend dramas, where you do NOT have to be a pretty and young boy/girl made by plastic surgery and you can still be a lead. Tons of great actors are over there and having fun, living their lives WELL, eating real food, living their life, and perhaps having more stable jobs.
and this drama had a great potential and started promising, ML actor is super good, Woo Ju is amazing, I hoped FL will be under control... but she is a stiff piece of plastic and cannot even move her face, and the script is trash....
BTW if you REALLY want to see the effects of plastic surgery and botox, wath The Siren, where FL can only move her eyes, and all her facial muscles are just cemented.... and she weighs about 34 kg for 165 cm height (about 75lbs for 5'5")
So I really started watching Our Universe seriously but by the end of ep 9, I have shifted into expecting only CIRCUS
There are other good kdramas that I will watch I really want to see more of ML actor and Woo Ju - and that will be another drama LOL
