wow the pattern - The Dude in Me is a very fun and light movie yet deep warm meaningful with little fights

This drama is the same topic, swapping the body between teenager and gangster, but heavy on fights and violence and machohism - and also ... many ppl say it meanders between brotherly love ad being gay . I do not see it that way. I watched all 8 eps and there is nothing gay there. They are just good friends. Nothing on my radar looks gay, just male friendship. More like an uncle to kids.

At least this drama has CONTENT, it has plot, it has character growth, it has some deep stuff as well as fun as well as fights. It is like ... male world in its different aspects, from gangsters to nice ppl... It shows the emotional side of men regardless of women or chasing work success.

In some ways this kind of totally male oriented drama is necessary, to show that men have emotions without women.
In some ways, this drama is too much as men already rule and "have" the world so dramas is where women escape into fantasy that there is something special for them too

But anyways - this drama SHOWS DISAGREEMENTS AND FRIENDSHIPS BETWEEN MEN, AND THE DEPTH OF MEN AS COMPLETE HUMAN BEINGS -
AND THE AUDIENCE CALLS IT GAY... omg ... so two men cannot be friends without being accused of being gay... ????

SO THAT IS WHY THE IDEA OF THIS DRAMA WAS STOLEN BUT EXCLUDING MALE FRIENDSHIPS, so that the audience would not get confused.... and so Weak Hearo Class 1 season 1 was made **** just as fights between boys who are totally cemented as human beings ****
THIS CLEAR MESSAGE OF MEN FIGHTING WAS APPEALING TO THE AUDIENCE AND PARK JI HOON BECAME FAMOUS - for not acting... He is only confused, sleepy, or fighting.. there is no other feelings around him.... There is no friendships, talking to other people, RELATING to other people... He is a little robot.

SO JUST the concept of boy fights and bullying was stolen from High School REturn of the Gangster and morphed into Weak Hero Class 1 - season 1, then season 2. and strictly brotherly love and strictly fights, no real plot no character development, no relationships, no acting. Very simple. And ppl loved it bc ppl are used to seeing Hwood simple and cannot see beyond simple.

then Study Group added back some light humor but increased fighting, added girls to the "team, still almost no plot, just fights:
and One High School Heroes went back to just serious fights and all-male bonding and a TINY bit of some character work, like dad-son relationship. That drama has zero gay vibes It is a more violent version of this drama, with a lot more fights and a very bitter confused ML.

THESE DRAMAS ARE ALL VARIATIONS ON THE SAME THEME
and this drama and Dude in Me are the only ones worth something, with actual plot and content and character development.

This drama has the most. Dude in Me shows the gangster, but not the high schooler.

I am rewatching this bc I mixed it up with Dude in Me. I will rewatch that one too to see, I remember liking that one a lot more than this one. I remember Dude in Me. I dont really remember this one. The plot is a little too thin and there are too many fights

YES IN HOSPITAL Those cognitive skills don’t suddenly disappear the moment he leaves the hospital. HA HA HA YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT CHASING KIDNAPPERS EVADING POLICE AND HANGING OUT WITH RIF RAF KEEPS PPL CALM AND COMPOSED?

The hospital has wings and floors, he is moving around the area with doctor's offices and operating rooms. Yup that is deserted at night.

As for surveilance system - well ... do you see how police are worth nothing in this drama? The are like that for real. So .. no surprises there

I think overall your expectations are just unrealistic

I haven't seen everything this ML actor did but the little I have seen is extremely good, so complex
His romcom On Your Wedding Day is something I still remember after zillion years.
Walking on Thin Ice, Haunted Palace were great
And Pinnocchio is the very first kdrama I have ever seen! I was glued to the screen all night :)

I think it is fun to shoot a fun rom com between more heavy roles

But his "rom com " On Your Wedding Day is super complex and I watched it zillion years ago and still remember it

Koreans used to be polygamous in Joseon era and before..... and am not sure when they stopped with that custom.
So ... introducing polygamy in this sneaky way must be interesting to them. Many are Christians now, seems like mostly Catholic? so this idea of two wives is a forbidden fruit :) but must be very enticing :)

since you love kung fu, I am surprised you dont have Stephen Chow from Hong Kong in your list or did I miss it? He has serious and comedy movies, and Mermaid and even some sci fi

well its different to watch it than to read about it. The feeling while watching it is something else. That drama is very masterful, so complex, so real, so true - and also so rare

I didnt watch the move and that last gaze, but ... just having emotional and personality compatibility, then you have a FRIEND. To have a real partner, you need that eros and yes, s.x.

I saw Flower of Evil and It's Ok That's Love and Another Miss Oh, and yes they are great, esp Its'OK is so meaningful and has a WONDERFUL deep meaningful educational script. I just saw it a few weeks ago bc I always wanted to see it and finally there is so much trash current dramas that I am skipping them and wathing old stuff.
I just watched KimChi Family too, I love it.

Flower of Evil is masterfully done and memorable but imo it is not a drama that is "educational" it is more just . shocking. Like a scary nightmare you still remember... Maybe educational about what happens with kids who went through so much trauma... and with kids who are spoiled by their parents..

Another Miss Oh I saw looong time ago and I remember liking it but I dont remember why lmao I will need to see some eps again

The others I didnt see, so I will check them out Kwong Sang Gu is one of my fav actors. I totally loved him in Love Divine lmao and Agent Jun :)
Mad for Each Other was on my plan to watch list. Frozen Flower I saw some snippets from and hm... was not going to watch bc it is tragic. A person is forced to be a servant to a king and then condemned when he is not able to 1000% sacrifice himself. Ouch.
I watched King and Clown, which imo is very masterful and imo that and Flower of Evil are the best roles of Lee Joon Gi. I am not impressed with any of his other movies/dramas

This is like eating organic junk food, like eating organic blue corn tortilla chips instead of eating trashy cheap chips. It is junk, but it is not all bad for you. There are even some nutrients.

This drama is super cheesy soapy cliche BUT at least the characters are decent people, emotionally and otherwise functional people, honest with each other, communicate, work well as a team, the plot keeps moving forward, some script is masterfully deep and most script is meaningful dialogue. So... if you are in a mood for junk food, this could be ok

A part of me wants ML to run away with the pretty lady doctor. His wife and her family are NASTY. The Chairman is behind putting ML into jail and ruining him.

And for me to be happy about the father -daughter relationship. I wanted to see them doing stuff together and talking, not him going to get this "new job"

But again someone said, the webtoon is about Kim continuing in his spy life, not about father-daughter relationship.

OK maybe the young guy sent him a few bucks. That young guy solved the revenge brilliantly lmao This is one of the best endings I have ever seen and only that was worth "watching" Mr Kim which otherwise was quite shallow. Well it had a few satire moments too.
