From the preview showing snippets of the next episode it looks like the Princess crazy made to Joseon. I am not looking forward to that episode, so I may skip it. I’m just ranting, so don’t take this personal. I’m tired of the yo-yo feeling I get watching scenes between Gil Chae and Jang Hyun. I love their loving interactions now that they both acknowledge their love, but it is not enough to save me from unbearable angst if this series ends badly for the two. While I understand why the writer must stay true to the historical facts related to the political events during this time period, as many commenters have stated, I was not aware that Gil Chae and Jang Hyun are real historical figures. If they are not, the writer had a lot of leeway pertaining to how they handled the political turmoil. Is that epic love stories must end tragically to be interesting? The Qing princess addition was so unnecessary. The crazy princess angle muddied up part 2. Jang Hyun’s political entanglements and his deep desire to save Joseon captives were more than enough to keep the two lovers separated until they sorted out their feelings for each other. Why must all epic love stories include multiple people loving the same person making someone a pathetic broken loser in the process? There are only 2 episodes left and our couple have only had about one and half, maybe two righteous “We know you are a couple” episodes. This series should have been promoted as a political/war drama, not a love story. I think that I would have been in the proper frame of mind watching this picture knowing that the love story was really a subplot of the main story. And, I would probably be less invested in a happy outcome.
In some dramas I can feel sorry for clingy SFLs, but I just don’t feel anything for this psychotic, “Evil, selfish, foolish wench”. It is clear from the ML’s interactions with the princess that he tolerates her only. And, that any kindness towards her is strictly to gain something that benefits the captives.

I saw the kiss and it was totally one sided. If you compare his kiss with Princess Psycho and his kiss with true his true love it is easily seen that the princess kiss was forced upon him. The kiss between him and Gil Chae was mutually agreed to, and it was more passionate. Those two actors really know how to convey the mutual love between the characters they play. Good acting. Made me a believer🥰.

I remember her voice over and it seemed to me that she was talking to someone about a dead past love. But it occurred to me that she may have been talking to that inspector who’s looking for the ML, and so she’s protecting the ML by pretending he’s dead. Given the obsession of the crazy princess and crazy Joseon King, maybe the ml had to be thought of as dead to get them to stop looking for him.

Her hateful, toxic views on the slaves are hard to overlook and the horrible things she has done and states that she is willing to do to people who have no power to satisfy her lust (whether it is lust for an experience she’s never encountered, or someone’s man) is unforgivable. I agree. I stopped watching Chinese dramas for that very reason. Everybody except the characters that had bit parts end up dying or committing suicide. I feel only sadness after watching their drama, unless it is a comedy.

Yes, that is one way of looking at her motives during that scene. My opinion about her behavior in that scene is biased. My comment is based on her toxic behavior and her ulterior motives that she demonstrated in each previous episode. It is too early for me see her as a “damsel in distress”. And, pretending to jump off a ledge to test JH is just one of her ploys to further manipulate him.
I am really hoping for a happy ending. I see unhappy endings everyday on the news, so a little drama and then an uplifting ending in the shows I watch takes the edge off the harsh everyday reality of minusha that living in today’s society spews.
