nope. it's what makes it good. there was a slight rivalry but the Alicia/Cheng you mei was not annoying to a low point. she didn't try to take what's not hers. like it's below her level. she actually ended up with Dachuan the funny uncle-bro of Yan Mo. She's a boss. and Qiao Yi is not on her league.

i really love this project. even after many years. I come to watch it back again from time to time. The earnestness of the plot is a rare find. Watching it again now, after everything that happened with the real life actors (the marriage, they had a kid, the divorce). But I just come back and now I'm picking up a new lens, it's not common for school life shows to feature the dynamics with the characters. Like for example, Xiaoyi and Guanchao are twins from a low income family. One is a brilliant kid, and one is average. But they have a pretty normal yet precious relationship. They can rely on each other in school cause they're the same grade, whilst still bickering like normal siblings. And Yan Mo and Da Chuan who are uncle and nephew, Dachuan being the young brother of Yan Mo's mom. They're all in the same grade level along with others who have become a part of their clique/friendship group. There's a plot hole somehow, when they grew up, it seems like Dachuan is not close to Guanchao, they had no interactions as grown up as you would expect. They stereotyped Dachuan into Yan Mo' sidekick. But i like that he got his comedic lovestory afterall. And Guanchao and Wuyi's who was also sidetracked into the stereotypic female lead's bestie.

it was happy ending. they won against the evil in the end.
but they kinda extended a bit to introduce a new conflict (hence the open ending) but this can be interpreted as a possibility for season 2. however the season 2 is not guaranteed.

As said, it's an idol drama, but with good romance (double trouble couple), back story, character development for the heroes, it's a spy and target love story, there's family drama, and the fight scenes are so breathtaking. beautiful show even when the color scheme is dark. Yes, the scheme and background's dark. but the story is beautiful.

Its boring af. I had high expectation to this due to the actors.

It’s just doppleganger. Im not comparing their acting skills. I have no credentials for that. But my eyes see the similiarities with their looks, thats why i could say from the get go if you are seeing them for the first time you would mistake one for the other. But I have watched their shows end to end and I could differentiate them now. When I see them as leads, i would most probably watch their shows.

Yes I remember in Ashes of love. And her song was iconic even got referenced in other shows like skate into love. Her face and acting skill though is good enough to play empress roles. Like bigger supporting characters

But Sa dingding was there from the earlier parts of the show already. Liu Yuning just came out of the blue. Liu Yuning is like a main lead guy already or is about too.

What the heck was the point of getting Liu Yuning for the food connoiseur magician healer type of character? Is there a spin off drama why his chracter got mixed in here?
