The ending seems fitting because FZW is a woman of her word: she made the same vow on the graves of her loved ones and she kept her promise right until the end.

On a side note, this just feels like Moonlovers Scarlet Heart Ryeo all over again. Too many versions floating around. Solid acting by main protagonists (i.e. Kang Ha Neul then and Ni Ni and Chen Kun now) and a bangin' OST for both.
The editing has gotten way worse and the plot lines no longer as tight. Add to all this: (1) A poorly executed new arc (2) Increased complexity of language spoken ... I am losing interest.
