I'm guessing the first pic is when he was around 18, and the second pic is from much more recently.
I don't see any evidence of plastic surgery, to be honest.
But I did read that he's been working out a lot, so if that includes lots of protein, etc, then his body would get more muscular and his face would change (slightly) because of changes in fat to muscle ratio overall. Plus the fact that he's several years older than when he took his MDL pic.
He's 23 now, so his MDL pic definitely needs to be updated.
Why does it seem like the ONLY roles offered to Dai Gao Zheng are always misogynistic ones where he abuses the female lead while trying to "avenge his family?" Does he not see how those kinds of roles make his career look incredibly ONE dimensional and utterly predictable??
He has potential, don't get me wrong. He's handsome and every **rare** once in a while I see a glimmer of some actual acting chops.
And when he's not screaming at, threatening, slapping, choking, groping or throwing the female lead across the room or into a wall, but rather, is engaged in an actual love scene with some tenderness and passion, the man has ALL the moves.
But for the most part he is stuck in a massive rut, and the ending is almost always the same. He gets the girl and wins his family's honor back. Same old, same old, same old.
Holy crap.
Dai Gao Zheng is in his late 20s. He still has time to get away from that awful and repetitive kind of role and establish himself as a real actor. I hope he does just that.
Could anyone please advise me on whether this series is worth starting? I’m starting to tire of the high school/university…
It's one of the best dramas, and best BLs, that I've seen in a long time. It's **not** a high school / university-themed one, so there's a huge positive right from the start. It's also not childish and not filled with those super annoying "comedy noises" that so many BLs seem to have these days. Another huge plus.
What it is, though, is a mature, intelligently-written, SUPER well-acted and wonderfully watchable series. And it's the first series for the brand-new pairing of William (a rookie actor who in real life is the lead singer of a popular T-pop group called LYKN) and experienced actor Est.
What will surprise you is the amazing CHEMISTRY between the two of them, and the unexpectedly great acting skills of William (Est is great too). Seriously, GMM struck absolute gold when those two were paired up. They are magic together. I've already finished the series, and I was honestly very sad to see them go. But the series ended on the PERFECT note, and I was so happy.
That's my long-winded way of saying that ThamePo is unquestionably, totally worth it.
This film is not BL, nor is it LGBT+. It's strictly gay erotica. And be forewarned - not all of it is healthy erotica. There is some abuse, if that's a trigger.
Side note: I don't know if whomever did the subtitles was under the influence of something (alcohol, drugs, who knows), but the film has has awful, awful subtitles. For those of us who don't speak Korean, that's a big problem.
But anyway......
This film, if I understand it correctly, is about a man who is a self-centered narcissist. He's used to using people at work and in his personal life to get what he wants, with no regard for other people or their feelings.
I think the duality of the film explores his burgeoning awareness of his own behavior, and he starts dreaming about what it would be like if the roles were reversed, and HE was the one being used rather than the other way around. He starts to imagine himself being emotionally, physically and sexually abused at the hands of the man whom he has actually been treating the same way.
He seems to start to regret his behavior........and at the end, I **think** the final scenes are of him finally understanding that he needs to change.
At least, that's my take on it, considering the subtitles were absolutely useless.
Strange, I'm only 30 mins. into the finale, and while I love all the characters, warts and all, and have done…
I think Leon's best acting shines through in his moments of stillness. He's got incredible facial expressions and body language skills that say so much without him actually saying a word.
I LOVED this series. It was so refreshing and different, and I really like the way it ended.
It was such a painful coming of age story, full of teen angst and making / learning from mistakes. Super cringe at times (not the story, but the situations, which reminded me of some of my own crazy/weird stuff from when I was a teen) but that went right along with the story and showed the moments of realization and growth within the characters.
And I have to say again what INCREDIBLE actors these kids are. SERIOUSLY good acting. Geez. So many older actors could really learn a lot from them.
Man, man, MAN I loved this series. 10/10 for me.

EDIT: I see there's some interest in a season 2 of Gelboys. I am STRONGLY against that. The series is a perfect encapsulation of a period of time in the characters' lives. I think anything beyond the original season would just ruin the whole thing.
It's interesting that they have Thai BL actors as mentors / commenters on the show. So far I see Max and Poom.
Although Taiwan doesn't use the same couple pairing system for BLs that Thailand does, Taiwan also has some regular BL actors that have filmed a number of series. I wonder if some of them will be brought in as mentors, too.

In the Cast & Credits section, it says Hong Kong Que is being played by Dollar Patchara Pinta. He's wearing red in the promotional poster.
The promotional poster says Lu Yi Peng is being played by Maiake Kandis Wanaroon, but Maiake is not listed in the Cast & Credits section.
No one in the Cast & Credits section is listed as playing Lu Yi Peng.
Did Maiake withdraw from the project? "Red Peafowl" is not even listed on his personal MDL page
If he's no longer involved, has no one been cast to play Lu Yi Peng, yet?
The poster needs to be removed from MDL if Maiake is no longer involved.
OR.....if he **IS** still cast in the role, MDL needs to update the Cast and Credits section, as well as his personal MDL page.
