From what I've seen of their interactions IRL (meaning in different non-series appearances on TV shows, stage performances, sports events, etc) Mark and Ohm have a very funny friendship and really like to wind each other up.
It's bizarre the way the parents appear standing side by side like statues, with both of them just standing silently unless they're arguing with their son or accepting his totally unnecessary apologies (for wanting to apply for a scholarship and doing everything possible to win it, including learning Japanese).
And the mother's facial expressions are like something you would see in a stage performance.....SUPER exaggerated so people wayyyyy out in the audience can see her face. Very strange.
It's feeling SUPER rushed, and they're skipping over things that need a lot more time.
For instance.....when someone stabs themselves like Jaemin did, wouldn't your instinct be to call for help instead of standing there arguing with him until he passes out?
I know he did eventually end up at the hospital, but why was he not on a psychiatric hold? Why was he only on a regular hospital bed, and then why was he allowed to check out as soon as he woke up? Did the docs have NO mental health concerns??
And then.....Jaemin just gave up?? Just like that, after going COMPLETELY off the deep end for years about Da On? He just.....tries to kill himself, then says "Oh well, I tried." and walks away???
Another example: Who uploaded that suspicious comment about Da On receiving preferential treatment at his job? Why was it SOOOO serious for 2 days (the day it happened and the next day when he didn't go to work), and then completely resolved with no repercussions and no further references to it on the third day?
^^^^ Just a couple of examples of how Ep 7 is weird and feeling incredibly rushed.

EDIT:
And the ending of the episode....
Flashback to a Christmas years ago, and the wishes they hung on the tree:
I hate, hate, hate, HATE when there's a misunderstanding, and one character gets upset and starts to leave.......and the other person just watches them walk away. They don't even attempt to raise their voice and say "STOP!!!" and then explain. They just helplessly stand there and do NOTHING to fix that moment. Oh that makes me ANGRY.
I really wish the writers had not had Dr. He tell Xi Fan, and then have her tell her mother, that "everything will be alright" BEFORE the full pathology report was released.
My mother died from breast cancer, and I have had multiple biopsies for suspicious masses, myself. I can personally tell you that, from our respective experiences, doctors that are overly optimistic before all of the medical facts are in evidence DO NOT help their patients. False hope hurts.
So, while Xi Fan's mother did eventually receive hopeful news from the full pathology report, those scenes upset me.
But other than that, I think this is one of the best romantic dramas I've seen. It's very well done, and the entire cast is amazing.
The chemistry, kindness and respect for each other, and genuine love for each other makes it feel like the actors are a real, actual family even outside of their characters. It's truly wonderful.
- Detective friend Jung Hyeok was shown to have a similar isolated personality keeping his distance from the world.-…
You're right, I got mixed up.
No, I don't think the girl that was beaten liked him yet. He only liked her, but of course he felt guilty once that happened. Although at the time, he wasn't aware of the "criteria" yet because Lee Dong Jin hadn't fully developed his theory yet.
- Detective friend Jung Hyeok was shown to have a similar isolated personality keeping his distance from the world.-…
Perhaps not right away?
I'm not sure if she's starting to get feelings for him, though. Perhaps that's why she didn't approach him at the end of Ep 9, but instead stayed across the street, out of the 10 meter danger zone. Maybe after reading what was on Lee Dong Jin, she understands what she should be careful about.
Thank you for the nice comment. But tell me, was Sangmin Dinneaw as awful as people say?
Yeah, pretty much.
The story just took all these tangents and then kindof collapsed. And then was partially but not completely resolved in the last 5 minutes. It was awful.
Thank you for the nice comment. But tell me, was Sangmin Dinneaw as awful as people say?
Gross: a scene with a vegetable, anal sex, and then later eating the vegetable. Some thought it was funny, but it was just gross.
Gratuitous: one of the main leads is lonely for the guy he loves (who is missing because of the last minute subplot I mentioned), so there's this very explicit solo sex scene that was so freaking unnecessary and not hot at all.
It was just super, super cringe. UGH. It contributed nothing, in any way.
- Detective friend Jung Hyeok was shown to have a similar isolated personality keeping his distance from the world.-…
"- The subplot of stalker and Yuna who got injured and who liked the detective got injured as per the Witch theory."
Except in the case of the male witch (the detective), the curse is slightly different. In his case, people HE likes get hurt. He liked the woman who was beaten and is still in a coma.
In the female witch's case, people who like HER get hurt.
In both cases.......if Lee Dong Jin's theory is correct, if the feeling is mutual between the witch and the other person, there should be no injury.
You spoke my mind. Well, except for the last thought. I'm not shipping anyone. I prefer the element of surprise…
I only said two actors from two different series look alike, and I think they could play brothers if they were cast in a series together.
Gelboys has been an incredibly refreshing production. I want to see more from the director, especially if the same kind of realism is used again.
And yes, I agree that the group chat was very effective. The way current social media and phone technology have been used almost as if they are actual characters in the plot has been an interesting perspective that I think captures the state of teenagers in this day and age. (I have a teen that's about to turn 15, so I see this in action all the time, lol.)
I'm not sure how all of this will be wrapped up, but I have to say I have REALLY enjoyed the format this series was filmed in. I love the way it almost feels like a street documentary in some places. It's very, very different from the way most BLs (and series in general) are filmed. At a few points in the story, it actually feels somewhat improvised, too, which adds a ton of realism. Man, I love it.
And the acting. Wow. These kids are SERIOUSLY good, especially in the scenes with silence or just long pauses. Their facial expressions are incredible. What a cast.
Lastly, I am still hoping Bas Hatsanat Piniwat (of the BasMaxky pairing) and the actor that plays Baabin, PJ Mahidol Pibulsonggram, get cast as brothers in something. They look alike.

EDIT: One more thing.
I MUCH, MUCH prefer the naturally paced and realistic dialogue in this series, instead of dialogue with long pauses in the middle of sentences / thoughts (then switches to a new camera angle before the dialogue continues), the way a huge number of BLs are filmed. That method is SO freaking annoying.
From what i understood after reading the novel was there's a myth among the vampires that the golden blood of…
Oh, man. Make Your Days Count made me cry for 2 days. It was devastating to see their newfound love just taken away like that. It was so unexpected, and I was absolutely distraught.
I have a long list of favorites, but The Time of Fever was very good, and The On1y One was very well done. <---- That one is unusual in that, the ending was rather open, but also ended in a way that I didn't mind. No second season is necessary, but there could easily be one (and I would welcome it).
Another (mostly) good series with an excellent pairing is the Taiwanese series, See Your Love. The main couple was amazing, espec considering they're both pretty new to acting. I don't think Taiwan pairs couples the way Thailand does, so it's unlikely those two actors will be in another series like that. Which is a shame.
Anyway, I didn't mean to turn this into a mile long thread, LOL. It's fun to explore this genre, though.

I'm a dedicated, decades-long fan of vampire stories but relatively new to BL in general, having only watched the genre for about a year or so. And I watch various series from across the geographical spectrum (though, TBH, I really can't stand very many from the U.S.), as well as from different production companies.
You're right, most of them are not deep at all. Rampant trope-ism and worn out story concepts (especially in the case of BLs - the high school or "college of engineering" setting) are vastly over-used.
I tend to like ones that are more unique either in substance or production format. I'm watching a Thai series right now called Gelboys. It's filmed in almost a street-documentary style in many scenes, although I'm not sure that's exactly the description I mean. It's just very different, and I'm really enjoying it.
I also just finished watching ThamePo, and that one was excellent. Much more of a typical style, but the difference is the cast - GMMTV made an incredible new pairing with first time actor William (real-life lead singer of a Thai idol group called LYKN) and Est, who is an established actor. As actors and as the main characters, they made an amazing connection that really came through on the screen. The series has a very high rating, if you haven't watched it already.
I'm hoping that translates to this series.

Perhaps I'll see you on other BL pages (here on MDL). There are some good ones coming out, I think.
It's feeling SUPER rushed, and they're skipping over things that need a lot more time.

RANT coming, lol.

Part of Ep 26 was upsetting.
