I had to get this off my chest, what blackface??? If you're referring to the Reggae Boy author, that just means…
Me defending racism, I'm genuinely not sure if you know what racism is because I feel that you are actually belittling what racism really is.
White person pretends to be asian, don't care, it's them being stupid but if they were to mock, possibly I will a bit annoyed. Someone killing someone else because of their skin/religion/language, that I have a REAL problem with and for me that is what racism is.
Finished this series last night, as you know the show does not have a compelling story but it is a nice, heartwarming rather chill watch.
I had fun with it, I would give the show a rating between 8 to 8.5 out of 10.
I ashamed of certain parts of humanity that think certain things are racist, they are genuinely belittling actual racism. For me racism is a grandparent being executed/murdered for literally speaking a different language or looking a little different. Racism comes in many forms but to cry for a rally for something that is genuinely not spiteful racism (in this case, it seems to matter to who views it, I was watching this show genuinely not thinking of "oh this writer/director is racist" but others did) is just sickening to watch.

1.) "they used the very existential stereotype of black people being dirty to characterize the reggae author - and no, this is not racist on my behalf", I beg to differ, you are literally saying that this "stereotype" is true, that is in itself racist and if you can't see that, you will be continue to be blind to the issue.
2.) " the scene of the Nigerian man entering the store, and the reggae author saying "we are the Jamaican family" " - This scene is edited out in the Netflix version. Watched it, nah not really mate. What's hilarious is that majority that are complaining are literally "Western" viewers. What's funny is that these kind of scenes are everywhere and have been existing for years, the selective uproar some of you idiots have is just plain stupid.
What kind of Asian are you? If you are actually, go and watch something that is of your native language, that has a "stereotypical" character that follow certain tropes that are considered racist. Take a breather and ask yourself why haven't you said anything about that.
Also, if you are Asian than you know that your parents have been brought up with subconsciously racist views and unbeknownst to you, you have as well. Not once whilst watching this show, did I think "black people are dirty", not once but you did and you confessed to it as well.
You going on about brain capacity, you sure if you any?
You are right it is not "black face". I personally wasn't a fan of the character but it was a good show over all.
The character isn't amazing or anything but the Fiery Priest references in the show are an absolute blast. Especially the hospital scene and he's dressed up in his attire in Fiery Priest but my favourite is this one:-

No you, I highly doubt you are person of colour, I am and no, not really a kdrama stan. You have decided to think this "Reggae Boy Author = Typical Black Man", right from the start of the show he says he's "An Original KOREAN" and never at any point does he refer to himself as a black person.
You deliberately appropriating that is racist.
I'm freaking Asian as well, not sure what kind of POC you are if you are at all.
So there's a character who is the ML friend and there's a vocal minority claiming that it is "blackface". Absolute bullshit, Asian people from all the countries have multiple skin tones, not all Koreans are pale, they can have darker skin tones. Another example is Indian or Sri Lankan, you can have pale brown peeps who look like they're white and ones who are actually really really really dark.
The ones claiming for blackface or cultural appropriation are just looking for something to argue about, they're stretching for a non-existent agenda. I believe them to be racist in that they feel they need to open their mouth and somehow explain why a situation is wrong, kinda reminds me of Chris' teacher in "Everybody hates Chris".
There are US Military bases in Korea since the Korean war back in the 50's, American (and Caribbean) influences/culture was exported to those parts of Asia.
I was hesitant about watching this show because of the rating but it's a dumb rating that was achieved by ppl who didn't even bother to watch this show and just rode on a bandwagon.
Overall, the show is a decent watch. It isn't as violent as others say it is but it is definitely silly.
I've been on episode 14 for a few days, got a bit busy with life. Going to try and finish it in the next 2 days.
I was staying away from this drama because of the FL, she is a good actress but for some odd reason (it must have been something I watched with her in it) I thought she was an actress that only played overly annoying characters and her "cute" talk/poses were just horrible. So I stayed clear of this drama for a few months but then decided to "fuck it" and just started watching it, I absolutely love this show and all it's characters with most of them being endearing.
I enjoyed it, I know it's full of cliches and tropes but it felt refreshing, it's definitely worth a watch. The ending was weak and rushed, I do wonder if it is because it was only going to be 12 episodes.
The manwha obviously fleshes out the story more with their marriage, their first night and the Sung Hoon + Young Seo relationship. So probably best to read the manwha for closure.
I gave it a 9/10 simply because it was an easy ride to watch which was not cringy.
So I remember that I wrote something about this Judge being a shitty one because of her bias, however this is all a set up to show why she may seem that but is fact a fair and impartial judge.
The track "Boy" by Safira.K, is a hauntingly beautiful song that captures the sombre mood of the series.
Overall, I very much enjoyed the series as a whole, even though the cases were rather generic. It would be great to see a second season of this but that's sort of up to Netflix and schedules of the actors.
I'm giving this a 9/10, I don't think I could give it more than that.
Did Nam die or live in the end? As it wasn't shown whether he escaped death after getting shot by Detective Oh. I'm going to assume he passed away since Detective Oh was getting investigated in whether he used his weapon according to the guidelines.

The show was very predictable, so it never had an OMG moment as you knew who the villains were.
I usually dish out high ratings and so even though I gave this an 8/10, it's a decent show but not top tier.
