I'm really enjoying this show !! Read about it on Avenue X, which was a great review as always...interestingly and probably unimportant fact she said people were saying ML should be more handsome. I actually think he's really very handsome and totally gorgeous, maybe I don't have great taste but that's how I'm seeing it. He also has great charisma, he's doing a great job as an actor, the macho soldier thing, the embarrassed thing, the confusion, the disdain, and the attraction, pretty nuanced, also really funny expressions and responses.
Just finished this drama, loved every minute. So impressed by the research into the medical aspect, and the way the surgeries were filmed etc. phenomenal. Marc Chao was just fantastic as the uptight medical nerd with abandonment issues, it's amazing how his dead pan expression can convey so much with micro moves. Jin Shi Jia was incredible as Zhou's polar opposite, What a fantastic, complex, passionate character, I was blown away by his portrayal of Lin Yi, and totally immersed in this story, I just couldn't see the acting. I wish Korean actors like Rowoon would ditch the mascara and lipstick and coiffed hair and throw themselves full throttle into a drama like this, I also really loved Fang even if she was a little bit "rainbows and kittens", the relationship between the three of them was just beautiful really. All the complexity of their history made so much sense. Just a little tiny negative comment, I couldn't feel any chemistry at all between Chen Yue and Zhou. I don't feel the actress was well cast, but that's just my take. They were incredibly flat together, just dull. I think he had more rapport and came alive more, with his mum Joan Chen, and I am biased here because I find her so gorgeous and a wonderful actress. I was so moved watching this show, and found myself shedding tears, which Is really a rare thing for me. In light of what is going on in the world right now, it was a really inspiring, uplifting experience watching The Heart, and obviously that is the intent of the makers of this show but I bought it 100 percent.
Honestly, this whole i am staying away from you/breaking up with you "for your own sake" has never EVER been done…
Agree, but it's always a device to add tension, as in near mortal death, mother in law hates lover, lover is lower class, etc etc honestly they just gotta come up with some new story lines and be more creative lol
Love the leads, they're amazing. Personal thing but I feel like the drama started as a lightweight romcom, with office politics and of course an implied past of deeper, darker issues, along with spells and magic. The beginning few eps setting up narrative were really funny and well written. Somehow the middle got a bit stagnant and repetitious, with too many flashback fillers. This drama was held up by Rowoon and Jo Bo Ah who are both fantastic, but the actual drama lost its trajectory. Not sure why we got the office love affair, although cute, and the two office co workers were just repetitious with no development, basically just consistently stupid and bitchy. Suddenly this drama morphed into an intense, sad full on saeguk, which I'm not that keen on these days so I ff'd a lot of it. Although from what I could see the acting, etc was great. I feel there was a lot of expedient and sloppy writing to make things add up in this drama. There is no reason in hell why ML had to leave Hong Jo alone after she had just been viciously attacked, to get what "an aspirin", with a lunatic running around outside. He of course recovered miraculously from fifty stab wounds, to reappear with the body guards, while she once again walked down a lonely, dark path, omg. Anyway there's lots of silly shit like this for me in this drama, which makes it weirdly inconsistent and actually boring, and for me both actors are worthy of a better, tighter drama. Hopefully the next one.
Hmmm, as everyone mentioned below, why SY could not have let HJ know about his plan to break up with NY, which was 'to protect her' is just plain ridiculous. So therefore before she got booted out of her job due to his stupidity, he had to drag her out forcibly in front of everyone, and of course drag her to a romantic sunset on the beach to inform her, which could very well cause her to lose her job and be humiliated publicly. AND....one of the few romantic moments of respite between constant bickering and arguing, which has not really built up an interesting emotional relationship, was once again ruined by some disaster, the red hand. SY and HJ arguing comes across more like siblings with nasty retorts, the romance, love and closeness just hasn't been developed. The show is kept alive by Rowoon and Jo Bo Ah who are just gorgeous and can act despite this weird narrative and editing. I know because of the past lives thing we are just supposed to buy the destiny concept, but it's just not gelling! will keep watching though because I love both leads, but I'm finding myself FF'ing the slow mo staring moments, and other overly tropey moments, Also curious now about the devious planting of the blood soaked clothing, and what will result. Also agree with comments below, why in gods name is HJ running off like a robotic servant when summoned by NY or SJ, just getting herself further abused and mistreated. Don't get the writing.
I have no doubt this is scripted but it's entertaining....in a good-bad way? I know Japanese people are very roundabout…
My sentiments exactly!! Half the time I'm not really sure why I'm watching this show, except it's strangely addictive in a highly cringe kind of way. This is potentially a group of the most interesting, creative people, who are all exceptionally attractive. But they spend their time hesitantly treading carefully around each comment, taking photos, screaming with excitement over nothing, and let's face it eating, again with great excitement. They are taking months to sand and assemble a picture frame, lol!! It's kind of like being in a dream where not much makes sense....the panelists look on benignly, with intense concentration at the screen, and make sweet comments even when some members of the cast hit on someone new, five minutes after confessing deep affection for another person. Julie seems to flirt, cry and flirt again. I'm assuming she has a lot to gain financially or by promoting herself, or perhaps adhering to her contract with the show, but otherwise, hey, if you don't want to be the wolf, maybe make an exit. After all it's only a reality dating show. Anyway, it's kind of entertaining in a strange, weird way.
Ugh!!!!I don't like where it is heading...they are dragging it too much and they are forcing the forced proximity…
Yeah, it's a pacing issue. The set up and witty banter etc. was full on in the first 4 eps, it's petering out and now repetitive, it would have been miraculous to keep that pace and interest. It probs should be a maximum of 10 eps. The thing that is hooking the audience is they actors are beyond charismatic, the support cast is also fantastic, they're all doing their best imo. I have so much respect for comedy writing, it's so difficult and underrated. Hope this picks up, it has so much potential.
There's a lot of similarities between Hyun Bin's arrogant a'hole character in Secret Garden and Shin Yu. Joo Won also thought of himself as socially superior, stunningly handsome, wealthy, and fought desperately with himself about his insane infatuation with Gil Ra Im. It was equally hilarious but the verbal abuse was borderline appalling. It actually wouldn't surprise me if there may have been just a tiny bit of appropriation going on here. Of course the whole plot revolves around the character development arc, and of course Joo Won turned into an angelic husband, ultra sensitive, wonder boy. So this is what we all love in Kdrama, and forgive everything especially when the ML (Rowoon) is sooooo gorgeous and loveable IRL. But really I'm finding his abuse is getting out of control and not funny any more, and yes someone below said we all know he's saying this stuff only because he's furious., but it's also partly his actual mindset. And while it make for great Kdrama it's hard to watch. I guess you have to have one part of your brain laughing at fantasy, escapist story, while the other side is going wtf!!!
Also i am looking forward to watch Hajoon as ML in "Hyoshim's independent life" very soon, but in here his character…
Sml looked kind of more intriguing initially, now he's written as a total bland bore, which does not make for an interesting conflictual story, it's case clear...go back to boring the dogs lol
Sadly ep 5 kind of went downhill from ep 4 for me. The Shin Yu internal conflict thing was pretty much the same old, as with HJ's reactions. His obnoxious elitist, abusive comments, are getting worse which to me is not in keeping with the character development arc. The dialogue is not as witty and fast paced for me. Probs not enough content to keep the pace for 16 eps, because we already got most of it in the first 4. So now we get the fillers, flashbacks and repetition. SML is frighteningly dull, there is NO reason for her to like him at all, except for when he was boring dogs a while back, obviously they didn't mind. There is so much potential in this drama, hmmmm!!! BTW don't know if anyone is watching Lost you Forever, but it's beyond fantastic if you're into that kind of genre.
exactlyyyyy. I was also thinking the same. but then also someone drank it. idk who. the other guy drank it I think.…
Yeah definitely the glass will be shown to be switched in some way!! Such a clever plot, can't wait to see how they sort out who sipped what and who loves who !!
