Totally enjoying and engaged with this drama. Great plot, my type of thing. One small observation, wouldn't a trained body guard not break down and cry in the cupboard, even if triggered by an earlier traumatic event. What if for example GSH's step daughter was threatening him physically or emotionally, isn't it her job to protect him. Your average body guard is a pretty tough dude.
This drama is really entertaining, and it's amazing how ML and FL manage to teleport themselves to the exact right place, at the exact right time, with the people they want to see...all the time, it's quite miraculous.
I just watched the finale, and up until those last eps I was more and more disgusted by Cheon Sang Yeon, the level…
IRL sadly you are probably right, an extremely narcissistic personality is unlikely to change. They just don't possess empathy as part of their personality repertoire. I guess though for me the ending was well acted, enough for me to try and believe she ''saw the light' so to speak. It would be nice to believe that could happen. But I also get what you're saying.
I liked it but the more it went on the more i found it frustrating. I really hated the characters Cheon Sang Yeon…
I just watched the finale, and up until those last eps I was more and more disgusted by Cheon Sang Yeon, the level of her destructive behaviour was so toxic and insidious etc etc I'm interested however that you didn't buy the redemption arc, did you feel that the ending was not plausible ie, that a person could change in the face of death? I know it's a drama and by definition a construction to entertain and reward the viewer with potential fantasy and so forth. I guess I was sucked in because it was a relief after watching that level of cruel negativity. However IF a person could redeem themselves in their final months, is that not an inspiring thing?
I finally reached the end of this drama, and my feelings have fluctuated so much, I'm glad I saw the last eps because it's a total redemption and actually a really beautiful finale. I didn't think for a moment that such a woman who was so extremely toxic and destructive in her relationship with her friend could possibly evolve as she did. It's probably the case that you will never know if things could resolve like this, maybe in some cases they do, and in some they don't. It's a true blessing to experience this kind of healing. So I guess the message of this drama is that this could occur, and if it does it's a wonderful miracle. Of course it's a drama, and it's OTT in its beautiful resolution, but still inspiring. I think the leads are beyond amazing, KGE is always fantastic and it was great to see PJH capacity to act in her character's final moments. What a range, what an ability. I think the whole cast was brilliant. Very inspiring drama, quite extraordinary. I will think about it for a long time.
wish I could erase my memory and watch this one one more time for the first time again, if you go to my profile…
I agree that it's a very powerful drama, which has elicited strong responses from viewers. I do think that the gay brother thing was intentionally written in to provoke the kind of response you had. It's a great that it has made you reflect on this idea. Where I'm from we have a huge gay community, a yearly gay mardi gras, and happily it's pretty much just the norm here as any other culture!
Have to agree. I thought it was great in the beginning, have watched a few more eps, honestly...how you can spin…
If you watch carefully you will see her accusing her mother of not accepting this about her brother, and therefore causing his death. She is consistently horrible in her behaviour. And sorry but imo her response to finding out about her brother was insanely over the top. As was her mother. And I repeat myself, there's a big problem in SK about being gay.

FYI there's a brilliant woman called Dr Ramani who describes various types of narcissism. I used to work as a clinical psychologist, and I find her work outstanding. It actually illuminated an enormous amount for me. No, half way through. Thus far the message is if you behave like a doormat, and don't set boundaries with some people, you will be exploited and mistreated. Side note, the reaction to the cross dressing thing had characters in this drama spinning out like The Exorcist, breaking down in horror, in the forest, trembling with shock. I'm sorry but this was soooo weird that I had to laugh, I totally cannot believe the reaction. Although I know SK is very conservative about this stuff and generally homophobic, I still can't fathom that this was scripted into this narrative, and why?
