The cheating scandal is not real, she retracted her statement and said she was pranking him and now changed her…
Has there been no action taken against her for her previous statements and the involvement in the cheating scandal? A "prank" isn't something that ruins someone's reputation and causes them to be attacked by so many people so viciously. Also, that scandal made MR take a hit, too I'm assuming, since it started right as the drama started airing, and now this right after. Does the Chinese government really not care at all about things like this, or is it that there isn't any action being taken towards her?
Only watched the first episode so far, but I'm officially hooked. I loved how everything was easy to understand, and it really reminded me a lot of Reset. Xiao Heyun walked so Ding Qi could run, and I am now in love with Ding Qi. It's sad to say I'm that easy, but when it's Bai Jing Ting, there's really nothing you can do but accept the obsession. At the end of the first episode, when he's just starting as an intern, his slutty little waist and broad shoulders in that formal attire had me keep the screen on pause just to admire his build for around 5 minutes. I have great expectations for this show, but I'm also scared of the day when we'll have to wait for episodes. At least it's a cdrama, so we get episodes daily instead of weekly.
While scrolling on TikTok and seeing the scene where he says he "doesn't see her as a woman" again, I connected a few dots that may or may not be right, but here's my theory:
So when he said that to her, it was because most of the women in his life were either maids or just his consorts. He saw women as all the same and mainly just objects, and he admitted that the chaehong was mainly for revenge, and we see that he isn't around any of his other concubines or consorts other than Consort Kang. And I think the only reason he "loved" her is because she's the only one who has shown him any form of affection, not making him realize that it's fake.
But, when he meets Ji Yeong, she becomes the first person to treat him like a normal human being and make him work for respect while also having no other motive for interacting with him other than the initial fear for her life she had when she first found out he was the king. That's why we can see him becoming colder to consort Kang in the more current episodes and see some of her tricks.
Also, after he starts respecting Ji Yeong and makes her the chief royal cook, we can see that their relationship changes, at least on Yi Heon's side, as he now knows what it's truly like when someone has no motives towards him, good or bad. So when he tells her that he sees her as a woman now, it's because he finally understands what a mutually respectful relationship between two people should be like, whether it's romantic or platonic. Because even Song Jae and the jester guy both have secret motives, even if they're not harmful towards him, they have them and aren't being honest with him. Only she has been 100% honest with him, even after finding out he was the king, which is what makes me root for them even more and pray for a happy ending.
Anyways, that's my interpretation of the show right now. If anybody actually read that all, thank you! Please feel free to add your ideas too, because I love reading other people's theories.
It's pretty clear that it's there and very obvious that there's something between them. So obvious that one of the main leads admits it to themselves in their head, and the people around them can see it, but not the main CP themselves. But compared to the cooking scenes, there's barely any romance.
Does anyone know whether this will have some romance in it too, like a reset, or if it'll just be a fully mystery/thriller revolved drama? I love BJT, and his shows are good even without romance, because he picks his scripts so well, but I just personally can't really watch a show or stay interested in it if it doesn't have even a little romance in it.
I can't wait for next week's episodes after the preview for Ep. 8!!! I hope their romance finally develops a little because right now it's soooo slow. I have a feeling the ending's gonna be really rushed, so maybe they should've done 16 episodes instead of 12, but I know I'll still love this show either way.
Can I ask who Zhang Zhe Han is and what he did that was bad enough to get him blacklisted? I was really looking forward to this drama, but I'm a little sad now that I just found out it isn't going to be aired ever.
Well, it's not confirmed yet by anyone, but it's the biggest theory out there since most of the shows similar to this have a sad or VERY bittersweet ending. Since the FL needs to return to her life in the future, I don't see how they can have a happy ending unless he gets reborn and falls in love with her again in modern times without his memories, but that would still just be bittersweet.
What the FL did with the rival’s knife had me laughing. I also crack up seeing the reactions when different…
The only thing on my mind when I see those scenes is how the actors must have felt with all those close-ups of their mouths while eating and their eyes widening in amazement, and the noises they had to make for that. And I keep wondering how on earth they didn't burst out laughing while filming such scenes. 😂😂
As someone who has developed the ability to decipher just a tiny bit of Chinese due to the amount of Cdramas I've watched, the scenes where the envoys were speaking had me pausing in both confusion and amusement. I was hoping there would be a scene where the FL shocks everyone by presenting her dish to the envoys in Chinese bc she's a multilingual queen, but unfortunately, we didn't get that.
and couldn't they let Yeon Jiyoung speak chinese as well? bcz Yoona can speak it ten times better than every one…
Omg yes, they should've just hired actual bilingual actors in my opinion, because listening to badly spoken languages is one of my newfound icks in dramas apparently.
I can't believe we're already halfway through the show!! It's so good so far, and I can't wait for their actual dating era. I just don't want it to end and be left to face the sad ending.
how food oriented is this series? i was curious with the title but so many food series kinda forget about that…
So far, there's a really great balance going on. There's enough for us to classify it as a drama that revolves around cooking, without that being the entire plot or taking away from the romance and comedy of a typical K-drama. And each episode is even named after the main dish the FL makes in that episode. If you're interested, I'd say give it a shot and just stop it if it's not for you. If not, you might miss out on a drama you like a lot.
I cannot believe I am saying this but the mortal realm could have used a few more episodes and the demon arc could…
Agreed. I think I just liked the mortal arc a little more because it was a lot fluffier than the demon realm arc. Also, I just felt like they maybe stretched out her amnesia phase a little too long. And the demon arc having like an extra mini arc at the end was a little unnecessary. I think a lot of people would've maybe preferred the third arc longer and the second one shorter.
