thank you for the kindly worded and thought out response. no matter how desperate he is, i just cant justify the lack of consent. however, i do appreciate that the drama was aware of the fact. nonetheless, i think the scene was played out to be "romantic" in some fashion or to further the tension and...it's just icky to use that as a plot device to further a relationship yk?? at least from my perspective. i do see your point tho :)

first off, youre a mf star for this essay!! i appreciate the thorough response and i can see how much thought and effort you put into it. more to the point, thanks for not brushing my bitterness aside lol. As you can probably tell my first comment was one of anger and disbelief thats been progressively piling up until this one scene metaphorically popped my lid, and you essentially address the exact reason as to why. my irritation lies with two things:
1) the fact that we're so goddamn slow to move past these harmful tropes, especially!! when there are clear examples of dramas with similar archetypes (rich dude who's also a narcissistic authority figure and a fem subordinate w/ ill circumstances - usually sick, poor, or generally going through a rough time) that have actually managed to re-imagine them in healthy ways. RUN ON is a great example!! not quite the same but at its base, it's using dumb cliches and making them wholesome and keeping tension without violating consent. the second issue is that...
2) i'm afraid that no one else even sees the problem. i'm watching this chick get assaulted on my screen and the general response has been 1) not being aware that assault even occurred or 2) trying to justify it. (this is a generalization btw, i know that most are aware that shit went sideways and are just as happy as i was that it was addressed the following episode. i would argue though that assault wasn't needed to keep the romance going like cmon now)

overall, i thnk my issue is that i'm just incapable of making that disconnect between fiction and reality. As someone in the social sciences its soooo difficult for me to filter out the content i consume about the standardization of what's considered romance, what's considered attractive, etc. and NOT see it as a mirror of current social inequities. i get it, people watch bl and are aware they cant project them onto real gay couples. my problem is that there are probably more people projecting than not and its doing lotsa harm. what if we just do away with the problem all together and deal with it in healthier ways??? for me personally, romance can never be ml forcing a kiss because he's 'desperate' to prove he's over his ex. but yo, i don't have all the right answers and i would love to hear anyone else's thoughts on this too. long discussion is literally my jam. on that note, i've bombarded you @idrilannare, i'm so sorry 💀 you got me frantically wiggling my fingers all over the keyboard though, so just wanna say youre a great writer and great thinker.

I'm not gonna judge it too harshly rn since its only 2 episodes in and the production cLEarLy seems like it has all the tools needed to be a cinematic success. only critique is that the scenes cut way too quickly. too much is happening in too short a time; and usually this wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that the dialogue and interactions and plot shenanigans are too cut and dry and short and abrupt for the audience to develop proper emotional tethers to them. this is probably why its difficult to see "the chemistry" between characters as well bc individually, they all have incredible charisma and charm
