It felt like I’m watching two kids play mom and dad in a big house back in the countryside! Lol! But seriously I think the BL undertones were kinda laidback yet the storytelling was cutesy and adorable, and played more on the themes of innocence, friendship, bromance and puppy love. Sometimes you just don’t have to sell six pack abs or hairy thighs or steamy kisses to the viewers to make a BL story work! This one right here is a good example.
Kidding aside, Solo and Guitar definitely won the most dull and monotonous BL couple of the year! Dang they’re as flat as our iron board! My only motivation to finish this series is the Petch and Khem couple (if they’re really a ship)! P.S Even Phu and Kao is a much more interesting couple.
First episode was slight of a sleep fest but I’ll give it some chance though.
C’mon this has got to be the most superficial, fast forward and almost instant relationship in a BL this year!!! And to think I was excited when the series was announced. What a bummer!
I’m quite ambivalent about this series. I don’t hate it though, however, I also don’t like it that much. Sometimes I even felt like it was a bit underrated but from the get go it clearly had a decent acting and a fairly good plot which is not muddled with so many BL cliches and superfluous fan service!
The cast were adorable and good looking but the entire series was just an endless stream of unnecessary fan service and nothing else more. The plot and the characters were quite flimsy and utterly forgettable!
Truly beautiful and heartbreaking! I’ve lost count how many times I’ve bawled my eyes out while watching every episode. Choi Ji Woo is definitely the OG Queen of Korean dramas!
You see the thing about most Thai BLs, or any BL series right now, is either it’s a hit or miss. However, this one scored a home run and is definitely a big hit! A coming of age story that poignantly explores frank and realistic themes of friendship, sexuality, love and self discovery. It even let us examine how the consequences of our choices affect us and the people around us.
I Told Sunset About You not only managed to suspend my disbelief but it has also masterfully combined and balanced the elements needed to keep me entertained, immersed and forget I’m watching a BL series. The director’s clear vision coupled with a beautiful, searing and moving storytelling resonated the mood and tone similar to that of Love of Siam and Call Me by Your Name, and was shot against the charming visuals of Phuket. The acting and chemistry between Billkin and PP was just phenomenal and ecstatic. The longing in their gazes, the sweetness in their smiles and even the heartbreaking tears they shed were just hard to dismiss. This characters were not only likeable and identifiable but also multidimensional and convincing. There’s warmth, sincerity and deepness to their lines that evoked string of emotions. One can’t help but laugh, cry (a lot), applaud, be inspired, dream, pray, and feel good with them. The soundtrack was even endearing and effectively conveyed the feelings in every scene.
Exaggeration aside but it’s just perfect from start to finish, now that’s a BL worth watching. Easily the BEST BL this year and arguably one of the best this genre has produced in recent memory that goes above and beyond the status quo! 10/10
Maybe not a popular opinion but I felt like the last two episodes, though not completely a letdown, were still more like anticlimactic. Nevertheless, GSP is definitely giving Gameboys a run for their money.
Definitely not great but watchable enough for an overnight binge. I really don’t mind the story and acting, however, my biggest problem with this series was the script. I’m not sure if it’s because of the translation but the dialogue lacks depth and character and at times were very very superficial.
