Title Athlete Spoiler
Sad ending?
Not really coz Kohei and Yuta somehow met again.
On The Meaning of the Promise Jul 18, 2020
It was definitely a problematic film. It was horribly acted and ended on a cliffhanger. But somehow this film also has its charming moments. It was hilarious, silly funny and has a story to tell.
On A Round Trip to Love Part 2 Jul 17, 2020
As the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche once said, “There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness”. Love can be a powerful and destabilizing experience. But love is love no matter what form it takes, it can be painful, it can be wonderful as depicted in this film. Like the first part, this feature was unexpected, beautiful yet tragic. The acting was more convincing this time and had depth to it. I know many would disagree, but I’ll say it anyway, Xiao Chen’s mother was the most despicable character in this film, selfish till the very end.
On A Round Trip to Love Jul 17, 2020
My stress hormones are always cranked up every time I watch BLs with homophobic parents. Anyway, this film was a rarity among Chinese BL, it was sweet, adorable and genuinely good. Though it was fairly predictable, still it pleases with its cheesy moments, decent performances and straightforward, fast paced plot.

Title Spiritpact
It was a disastrous and god awful mess of a film, absolute garbage and a disservice to the source material. As a fan of the original manhua and the anime adaptation, I am very disappointed with this film. It was poorly acted, horribly paced, and the bromance between Yang Jinghua and Duanmu Xi was watered down to almost nothing in favor of Qin Siyao. The personalities of the characters were completely altered to the point where I didn't see why they even bothered maintaining the original names. Also, the events of the story were changed so drastically I forgot that I was watching Spiritpact.
On Love Next Door 2 Jul 16, 2020
The storyline in this sequel was considerably better than in the first film. Although it definitely benefited from setting diversity, side characters, and plot structure, it was still dull, bland and forgettable.
On Present Still Perfect Jul 16, 2020
Like its predecessor, this film was thoughtful, moving and beautifully photographed. However, unlike the first film it was more fast paced, funny and the acting feels more authentic and convincing. Indeed as the mantra goes, love conquers all. As long as we are true to ourselves and live as we are, good things will be bestowed upon us.
On Present Perfect Jul 16, 2020
It was a gentle, meditative and reflective film about love and commitment. It was beautifully photographed, there was quiet serenity in the simplistic interior shots that worked well with the mood of the characters being portrayed. Sure it was slow paced but I’ve watched too many Japanese films to be bothered by it. The emotional pulse and conclusion were bittersweet but the film affirms forgiveness, acceptance and moving past personal hurt and pain.

My only criticism though was how the issue of Xu Yang’s bullying handled. I find it so ironic that Xu Yang gave a speech about not giving up when just a few days back he tried to commit suicide.

Title Red Balloon
We live in a world where we’re made to believe that the penultimate happiness in life can be attained by following what we’ve always been told. It’s so frustrating when we allow other people to influence or determine our choices just to please their expectations. Before we realize we lost control of our lives. In the end, I’m really glad that Zhi Chen and Xiang Wan regained the passion for the life they want, and recovered ownership of their choices. This was really a great drama with likable characters and a beautiful soundtrack.
Totally delightful and highly agreeable coming of age story about young love and being true to oneself. It was beautifully moving, well acted and unabashedly nostalgic. A tender and emotionally satisfying teen drama stripped of its edges and dark corners and captures innocence, the shifting emotions of friendship and love while also tackling questions about sexuality, choices and happiness.
On Jealousy is My Guest Jul 12, 2020
Falling in love with a straight guy is the worst. More often than not, it will only give you heartbreak, you’ll be easily brushed off from their world once a woman caught their eyes. But anyway, this was simple yet entertaining. In the end, you can’t help but wonder what happened next to Hun and his unrequited love for Mr Jang.

Yeah locking doors can save you a lot of trouble! Anyway, this was just a bit over ten minutes but it was goofy, lighthearted and hilarious.

I think what Jun Jie meant is that, in the future if they happen to bump unexpectedly into each other (without planning to meant up and purely coincidental), he would be brave enough to take Jia Ming’s hand and answer his love back. And yeah, as what we’ve seen they really did bump into each, so although it was an implied ending, they still got back together.

Yeah I hope it’s faithful to the source material. I think this film is based on the manga and its sequel The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice coz I noticed Okamura Tamaki is on the list of cast.

to those who have read the manga, is it a sad ending??? please tag as spoiler
It was a happy ending for Kyouichi and Wataru. But actually it was emotionally draining reading the manga. Their relationship had too many downs than ups that sometimes I find it really annoying and bothersome.
