Title The Lover
This actually kinda reminded me of The Boy Next Door. However, for this drama I skimmed almost through every scene except for the adorable and hilarious Joon Jae - Takuya couple. They were just too fun to watch and a lot of their scenes together had me laughing so hard. Yet initially, their relationship felt like more of queer baiting than anything else but I’m glad they acted on their feelings and stayed true to themselves or at least that’s what I thought after watching it.

Better than average that was neither good nor bad. This is one of those films that is perfectly serviceable but you never think again after the closing credits. But still it was worth wasting some time just to see Hamao Kyousuke and Watanabe Daisuke together again on the screen.

The premise was quite interesting but it turned to be an utter disappointment. I was bored to death before the show could even sink its fangs. It felt like I was watching a badly produced manga to anime adaptation. And for a vampire themed dorama it was bland, unimaginative and tamed. The only good thing working for this show was probably the opening and closing songs.

This film was surprisingly good, heartwarming and inspiring. It can be noted that in between the slow paced scenes, the film delivered relatable yet sentimental moments that teaches one or two lessons about healing and friendship.

I watched Tsubasa no Kakera and Unmei no Kodou, although different plots, both segments depicted the inevitability of loss. It dealt with issues, characters, and settings which gave an indelible experience of hopelessness, sadness and tragedy.

jTBC is on a roll! They’ve been producing top notch quality and diverse, interesting dramas. I have high hopes for this one too!

The story was not only sweet and concise but also poignant and moving. I particularly love the message behind this dorama. We often hear people say, “You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”. But the truth is, we knew exactly what we had. We just didn’t think that we were going to lose it. The irony of life. Whatever is taken for granted will eventually be taken away. As the song goes, we should be grateful for what we have, we should be more conscious of what we've got in the present moment, how we feel and what we're living right now. PS I really like the closing theme song but I can’t seem to find it on Spotify
On What Did You Eat Yesterday? SP Jul 3, 2020
Certainly deserved all the awards and recognition for this dorama. This special was composed of three stories and like the previous episodes it was fun, sweet and heartwarming. The spark and chemistry between the two actors were still visible. Now I can’t wait for next year to watch the new film.
On What Did You Eat Yesterday? Jul 3, 2020
Truly a decadent, sumptuous feast to the eyes and probably one of the best doramas I’ve seen in years, nothing short of a masterpiece. I love everything about this slice of life drama, the actors were very compelling and the story was engaging, authentic, straightforward and heartwarming. More importantly, it had a relatable and realistic depiction of gay life and the society without being preachy or moralizing. It’s also quite interesting how each episode presents a dilemma that is being resolve within that particular episode. Lastly, it tackled relevant issues and followed a non sexual plot in contrast to stereotypical portrayal of gay men in other BL stories.

True it was entertaining but I really really hated this drama. It might not be the popular opinion but each episode gave me constant bouts of headache. But my bias towards this drama lies on the fact that I’m not the biggest fan of plots involving older - younger relationships. The story was frustrating, vexing, pretentious, unrealistic and devoid of spark. I particularly had problem with Haruta’s character. He was naive, dense, insensitive, indecisive and annoying, spineless dumb. Also, the fact that Haruta and Maki didn’t have much moments together ended my curiosity to watch the sequel.

Major SLS for Yoon Kyun Sang and Ji Soo in Doctors. They deserve another romcom pairing with Park Shin Hye!
PSH and Ji Soo really looked good together in Doctors

It goes without saying that the only good thing about this film were the cast of eye candies. The film suffered from bad editing and a mediocre plot that put up many questions rather than answers. The ending was ambiguous and confusing maybe because I watched the last twenty minutes of the film without subtitles. So frustrating.
On Udagawachou de Matteteyo Jun 30, 2020
At first glance, I wasn't expecting much from this film so I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually pretty good. The film offers a unique story, while also being original, sweet and surprisingly funny. Some might seem to think that it wouldn’t be good, but for me its interesting plot, heart and enjoyable characters turn this film into anything but forgettable.
On TEIICHI: Battle of Supreme High Jun 30, 2020
It was not the ending I had in mind but this film which sees the funny side of politics is a brilliant, entertaining and wacky satire with a compelling message about friendship and being true to oneself. The use of slapstick and campy overacting not only provided comedy and humor but also some homoerotic undercurrent. However, the strongest point of the movie was probably its good direction and the ridiculously good performances of the cast. Masaki Suda portrayed Teiichi Akaba so flawlessly. His acting was comical and probably over the top in some scenes but it somehow suits the movie and gave an amicable impression on the viewers. I also enjoyed watching the exchanges of Teiichi and his father, I couldn’t stop laughing while watching them back and forth. This film really took high school politics to a whole new level.
On Lychee Light Club Jun 30, 2020
The film started really great but somehow run out of steam half way through with its impoverished climax and less than surprising surprises. But nevertheless, it looked visually impressive, foul, disgusting, wonderful and has a compelling story like the manga. It delved into a familiar territory of out of control, angry teens and their good versus evil dichotomy.
