On Lesson of the Evil Jun 29, 2020
It might be nothing more than another slick slasher film but there’s really a satisfying feeling watching an “evil” protagonist. The plot sees an idealistic high school teacher who goes out of way purging and terrorizing his students like a force of nature. The film started off deceptively slowly, in fact the first hour was sadly a slow burn of bore than gore. However, it gradually eases up the tension which culminated in bloodbath and extreme violence which was thoroughly entertaining and exciting. PS You might find the film deeply and unseemly appropriate turning a high school carnage into an adrenaline pumping pleasure ride.

A friend keep mentioning this BL but I really haven’t checked it out yet maybe coz I’m not a huge fan of age gaps in dramas. But I’m quite interested who ended up with who. It might help me decide if I’m going to watch it. Thanks

The film was stilted, predictable and far from great. It can be confusing at times if one doesn’t pay attention to the time jumps. However, there were a few sweet and delightful scenes that made me smile. There were no annoying female characters and it ended on a happy note.

The plot was thinly written but the story was kinda sad. However, I’m so conflicted whether I’m actually watching an art house film or a two hour gay porn in all shades and genre. It was so full of sexually graphic content and you might need earphones for the endless moaning.

After watching the prequel film first, I don’t have much expectation for this next installment. Like the previous film, this doesn't offer much in the way of exciting thrills or even horror. The premise really does hold promise but after that it’s just a stream of scenes devoid of chills, shocking plot twists or even cheap titillations.

I think this is actually a sad film about finding love and acceptance. I still haven’t watched the original film so there’s no way I can’t compare the two. However, this remake is not that good and gripping that it keeps me at the edge of my seat nor it is that bad that I didn’t fell nothing whilst watching it and wished I had taken a nap instead. For me it’s an average film. Maybe the problem lies in the execution coz I think it was greatly acted but some scenes were just dumb and I keep asking myself why can’t he do that already?
On To Each His Own Jun 27, 2020
Truly I’m lost for words after watching this film. It made me really emotional coz I can relate in some parts, thus, probably one of the best films I’ve seen in ages. It was a brilliant film, deeply moving, beautifully shot and wonderfully acted with sensitivity and humor. The themes presented in the film were not only realistic but very much relevant in today’s society. Definitely a must see film!

Like a typical Japanese BL which is often minimalist and slow-paced, this film is no different. Although the ending was far from what I imagined, I’m still glad it finished up the way it did. Shinichirou deserves anyone but Hokuto. I find the latter very dense, selfish and insensitive. He acted up as if nothing happened in the past, knowing that Shin got feelings for him. Maybe he really wanted them to remain friends but still Hokuto should’ve kept his distance.

Such a great film! It was wonderfully acted, the characters were likeable and fun to watch. Though somewhat predictable but still interesting and truly heartwarming.

Hmmmm, I didn't like the ending. Did Jun ended up with, Murai or the jackass?!!!?
Glad I’m not the only who thinks the best friend is such a bothersome.

The movie was simple and straightforward with the message it wanted to convey. Though it was bleak, languid, slow paced with a rather disappointing ending. I particularly find the best friend a confounded nuisance who’s always indecisive about his feelings. But on the other hand, Jun and Naoki still had some great moments together which I find really sweet especially the scene where Naoki planted a kiss on Jun.

I'm watching the end and saying....so, you're NOT going to the hospital? He would have most likely lived. The…
Exactly my thoughts, they could’ve rushed to the nearest hospital instead of dilly dallying by the shore.
On Love Place: Shiawase no Katachi Jun 26, 2020
As what they say, jealously is the brother of love. Problems and misunderstandings are really bound to happen if one can’t define the relationship you have with each other in front of other people. The keyword is boundaries and communication. I really felt sorry for the older sister but Souta being jealous was kind of expected given that Doumoto initially wanted to be in relationship with him in the first film. And all of the sudden Doumoto becomes cold, dense and insensitive towards Souta. Maybe he just don’t want to out their relationship but that kind of behaviour was unfair and truly unwarranted. But funny as it was, the mix-up they created was sorted out after a good sex. In the end, this movie has been more interesting and fun to watch than I ever expected.
I can’t sympathize enough with the female character for she’s either naive or just plain stupid. She’s been holding unto something that has been long gone. And the guy she’s been clinging on is a major a-hole for being inconsiderate and self-serving. Anyway, the movie was slow paced but I felt like there are too many unnecessary parts. Also, the plot and the characters were underdeveloped maybe coz the running time was just under 40mins.

It's 38 minutes not 1 hr. 30 min.
Gee thanks a lot! I’ve been wondering about the running time too coz no matter where I search I can’t seem to find a 1hr 30min version of this film.

It’s kind of melancholic but still sweet. The song played towards the end is beautiful and suits the story well. Coz of this I suddenly remembered L and that ill fated kdrama Meow, the Secret Boy.

Lately I’ve been wondering why do I watch this kind of BL. The premise was really interesting but everything after that seems off. I tried real hard but I just can’t take it seriously, it’s a half-baked comedy with forgettable acting and the editing was a big pile of mess (maybe coz of limited number of episodes I guess). The only good thing about this series though is Wang Qing and the special episode was surprisingly fun to watch. PS Anyone who knows the title or any link of the opening/closing theme of the series? Thanks

I just saw the movie today and I want to slap myself coz this is a total gem and it’s been queuing on my playlist for months. The movie is direct, honest with uncomplicated message to tell. But what made it a stand out for me is its simplicity. And although it invokes themes of melancholic tragedy there is still a subtle hint of playful romance between the main characters.

Maeda was definitely an interesting character. His naiveness and honestly is weirdly cute but somehow his insecurities and unwillingness to trust his partner got the best of him. But who can blame him, keeping a functional long distance relationship is quite a task. Fortunately, despite Maeda’s negative signals, Haruhisa was able to look past through them instead of giving up. Ah that must be really love.
