After watching this, I REALLY hope the remake fixes a lot about this. I'll have to watch the Thai remake to see if it's any better, but- Oof. That's all I can say.
So I'm gonna be an odd one out here saying I loved this show? Was it perfect? No, not by a long shot. It definitely had some issues. Tropes or not, it managed to bring a beautiful story together. Do I think it could've used a few more episodes to focus on the side characters and just more of Sun and Sky? Yes. Do I think Gun needs to work on his angst acting? Yes. Did I enjoy my time watching this series? Absolutely. I know it can't compete with any of my favorite BL's, but I can say I don't regret watching this at all. For anyone who's thinking about watching? I'd say go for it. If you don't like it, you can always drop it. Don't let all the negative reviews cloud your judgement. If you go in with an open mind, not expecting anything? You might just find a gem in this show. Give it a shot, you can watch it free on YouTube. You really don't have much to lose, so go for it! <3
I do not have a subscription yet, so I cannot confirm. The runtime is giving me no, but the promotional stuff is saying yes so, do with that what you will. x'D
Yes and no. Depends on what you mean. It's not a totally bad ending, but it's not a cookie-cutter sweet BL ending either. I guess you could say it would leave the door open if they ever chose to continue this, but since they most-likely wont, I'd say watch knowing it's not gonna be a perfect ending.
The show definitely had a rocky start, and I was not feeling it. By the end, I ended up really enjoying it despite not really caring for the brothers couple. When you make it to the end, there is one thing I'm disappointed about, but I hope it'll be addressed soon. ;-;
I will say, the most recent 2 episodes were actually very good! I still don't like Yong Jie, and I don't think I ever will. But Li Cheng & Mu Ren? THE SHIP HAS SAILED I LOVE THEM.
Yes there is a lot toxic topics in the show. Yong Jie is definitely not a wholesome character. Though the show…
You do make some valid arguments. And I can definitely agree with Mu Ren and Li Cheng. I think it was more shock value, I thought it was real. x'D (Though that is pretty messed up for Li Cheng to dream about his drugged friend but that's another story. x'D)
As for Xing Si and Yong Jie, I do think he has feelings for him. Maybe not willing to pursue a relationship, but he does have feelings for him. I don't know how to properly word it, so excuse me if this doesn't come out properly. Yong Jie wants to protect Xing Si and help him come out of the closet. Fine, that's good. However, his manipulative tactics and rape of Xing Si doesn't help. Xing Si is still REALLY torn up about that and I feel like it was just swept under the rug. I do sympathize with Yong Jie about his childhood, but to pretty much force Xing Si out of the closet and force your feelings on him is really messed up. At the current moment, I just really don't like Yong Jie and I don't know how they could fix his character.

Is that what you got from Xing Si? Because I think he is interested in him, but is avoiding it due to him seeing him as a brother and what his family would think. There's a certain way he looks at Yong Jie that makes me think he does like him, even in the slightest bit.
It's gonna be take a LOT to redeem Yong Jie for me. He's done TOO much. But I really don't think there will be enough time for him to do so. We're almost halfway through the show and he hasn't shown enough for that. =/
And I really hope that was a dream. We still don't know what ACTUALLY happened that night...
I will say, I feel this episode was stronger than the others in terms of plot and character development. That being said, at this point in the show, it's VERY problematic. There's a lot of toxicity here. I would like to remind everyone that yes, these things do happen IRL. One thing I love about Xing Si is that I can relate to him a lot about being in the closet and terrified about people finding out. Yet he just wants to be happy and doesn't want those around him to be upset. I love his character for that. Yong Jie... I don't even know where to begin. He's extremely problematic and toxic. To keep this as spoiler-free as possible, what he's done is terrible. Even though his intentions are good, he goes about everything the wrong way. He's over-possessive (And this is coming from someone who enjoys having a possessive partner. But he is just way too much.) and that s*****e bait was the tip of the iceberg. I honestly don't want the brothers to have a happy ending simply because Yong Jie is extremely toxic and should not be rewarded for his behavior. I do like Mu Ren and Li Cheng, quite a lot actually. The bathtub scene was off, not the acting but just due to the fact that Mu Ren was drugged and couldn't control himself. Sadly, BL loves to romanticize and glorify things like rape and non-consent. We already get a bad enough rep as-is just for existing. If BL could stop romanticizing these acts, that would be fantastic and I'd honestly like this show a whole lot more.
You don't like the material, you think it's wrong, you have been "iffy" for six episodes and you are completely…
I really want to like this. I've liked all HIStory series prior to this one. There are parts I am enjoying with this, but there's a lot I don't as well.
I REALLY don't know what they're doing with this season... It just feels like every wrong step they CAN take, they do. Honestly have been feeling iffy since episode 1, but ep 6 has me feeling even worse about it. The past HIStory seasons, even 1 did not turn me off this bad. I'm still going to watch in hopes it gets better but... It just feels like this is low-budget and written poorly. I still like the main 3 leads and I watch for them and Mei Fang...
The version that's out on YouTube I assume is a cut version? IDK some scenes in the trailer weren't in the full movie, so I'm a little confused. Knowing Chinese BL, it just seems like a romance cut. Overall, the movie was fine, it was cute. Got a bit muddy/boring at times but it was enjoyable!

I'm all types of messed up.
I've experienced too many emotions today. x'D
