For anyone who doesn't like the female or male lead here, there is a chinese version 'Operation Love' with the same story but very different main characters.
Yes just finished Circle and...are you ready for this...easily my least favorite Korean drama ever. It just felt…
Assuming you're a guy, I wonder if we have higher expectations for sci-fi, like the "science fiction" part needs to be more compelling than this. This was a good drama by all means, but the science fiction just doesn't come close to what I've seen. The more that is revealed, the more boring it got because frankly the only excitement was the mystery/suspense. I guess you have to treat this as a drama to enjoy it, cuz as a sci-fi, it doesn't make the cut.
After watching this, and some other sci-fi drama, I've completely given up on sci-fi from Asia, or Korea at least. For an 8.8, this does not even come close to any western sci-fi, it doesn't matter if they had fancy equipment/graphics and all that production value, none of that matters if the idea just isn't clever/compelling enough. This is like throwing in all these cool sci-fi cliches and hoping something sticks.
I love the melodrama, historical drama, romantic comedy, etc. but scifi just isn't an asian drama thing I guess?
The people who like this either cannot handle the depth of some of the greatest scifi films or simply have not seen them. This is a bad scifi, sorry to break it for everyone.
fyi, as purely a drama, this not bad, actually pretty good: the acting, the storyline, the characters, whatever it is. But from a science fiction standpoint, terrible.
this drama is so underrated, one of my first c-dramas and made me think there a whole world of drama I was missing out on. I was wrong, sure I ended up watching some chinese historical drama that are much better, but nothing quite like this. This is unique (not to say others are not), the emotions feel real, and the historical presentation is amazing. Obviously it suffers from plot inconsistencies and wtfs, sure the meaning wasn't deep, but this wasn't meant to be a masterpiece. For what it's worth, it took me on a journey I'll never forget.
Disclaimer though, this might be more targeted towards male audience, should be obvious why.
I'm gonna try this but I don't see the attractiveness of medical time travel, out of everything that you can bring to the past, the focus is... medicine? That's just not very exciting.
Also, from watching the trailer I can tell the main character is the mature, unselfish type, which again makes this more boring because he won't be doing much other than save lives once he goes back in time. I'm not expecting much.
If the whole point of the drama is to showcase japanese history, then I don't see the point of the time travel.
This is not the drama for action scenes like car chases and fist fights. The center of the drama is Hu Ge's character…
Good point, some people simply don't find psychological genre exciting.
I find this also similar to one of Hu Ge's less popular drama called "the Myth" in which he goes through multiple tragic romances similar to what's happening here.
How does Korea manage to produce drama where the prologue/premise story is better than the main, do they not realize its potential while filming it? This is not the only one..
