For anyone hesitating to pick this up, don't expect an amazing plot, but expect an amazing score (music by V.K), great acting from most characters, very serious and believable, the emotions feel real, and overall very high production quality, much better than the taiwanese version.
The synopsis makes it look like a story I'd love and there are some good parts about it but also a lot of bad…
honestly don't think she doesn't know how to act, these types of characters have a huge fanbase, I feel like female leads are shamed even more if they are too serious.
That said, completely agree, I can't watch another season with this acting, I've already watched the season 1.
8.5/10 is exactly what this drama deserves, it's suspenseful, thrilling, emotional, but greatly lacking in other areas.
The time travel model is becoming overused and it's very messy in this particular case. You can't tell what a character knows exactly and there are so many plot holes, why are some characters remembering the other time lines but others not? Time simply doesn't work this way, but I admit this is one of the most "fun" way to time travel.
The fact that the evil characters haven't caught on to the time travel blows my mind, and the fact that, classically, evil characters fight for a boss who has nothing to offer them in return except money, but what's the point in money if you're in jail or in danger all the time. It's true that powerful and rich leaders can rule the world, but not in this way. Lee Taek Kyu should already be loaded given the amount of times he's helped the chairman commit crimes. Why doesn't he already take a flight and escape the country at that point, he has nothing to gain from continuing what he's doing aside from being evil. Evil people should be logical, not dumb.
The ending is fine, every good character is happy but there's something missing, I can't describe what it is.
Possibly one of the dumbest endings (last ~5 episodes), it doesn't make sense at all, even for a fantasy, and seemed to be there to piss off the audience.
Overall it's not bad, all the comments are true but if you just want to enjoy a classic melodrama, most of that is still there with the misunderstandings and all, that part is expected, the ridiculous ending is not.
Trying to pick this up but the comedy tag always puts me off, it's not that I don't like comedy but I just don't want that to be the focus, even in the earlier episodes. I did not grow up in China and with limited understanding of the culture, the humor isn't funny as it could be. Same with the Reply series, the comedy was definitely a focus and was boring to sit through, especially for someone who cares more about plot/character development. Comedy develops the character but you only need to see it a bit to get the gist of it, hardships tend to develop characters more in these stories.
I want to know if this is more drama, less comedy, or not, thanks in advance.
Out of 3 main characters, it's like choosing the lesser of 3 evils but there is 1 character who's behavior was acceptable.
The ending was fine but they should've made it ambiguous or have them go their separate ways, none of them deserve each other, but I like that the characters grow.
It's really not that bad, aside from plot. Xia mo's bland acting is intentional but also have to consider this is one of her first roles.
It was a perfect drama until recent episodes, when it became a bit too cheesy, with a lot of fabricated suspense. The whole situation isn't very exciting in reality and the sentimental moments got a bit repetitive, but understandable. Disclaimer: my opinion, still 9.5/10 for me.
She must have felt really lonely. If i were him, I would never have told her about what happened or will happen…
You're assuming they have control over how things happen, which is not necessarily. It's a time loop because you can't escape from it, at least from your perspective. If he tries to do something different, then one could argue it would change himself (cause and effect) so he would've never been able to do that action differently in his timeline. For all intents and purposes, their relationship is infinitely trapped in time.
The ending made a lot of sense and Eight deserved it, but I wish this drama was a little more evil and give more to the main character despite what he did. Up until that point, Eight was still a "bad person" but it's like he flipped a switch and suddenly became a saint/monk to go back and solely make everyone else's life better.
Maybe something more neutral would be better, maybe he marries Mikoto and learns to love her or he goes back for Saiko again.
A bit lackluster ending for a story that is so thrilling and unconventional.
Agree the side characters were somewhat ignored. It's definitely not perfect but in a way this wasn't meant to…
Even though I'm defending it, I actually don't like the whole scenario of LZW meeting HYX when she's a child. It's not very subtle and it seems like a bandaid that exists to make us feel better about what happened to their other selves when the time loop ended (they disappeared or faded into the other timelines). It would be much cooler and romantic if they first met as adults.
I completely understand where you're coming from and those are natural things to dislike. This drama was partly in dedication of "outcasts" like MJJ and CYR, who in reality are just introverted and have special thoughts. It's important for them to understand that it's okay to be different and accept who they are. Hopefully, there's someone who will like them for who they are, in this case MJJ and CYR, and luckily they had great friends to help them through their dilemma (LZW/HYX). Too bad this isn't always the case irl and that's one of the reasons why this drama exists. Thinking about it, MJJ was literally me at some point and I'm glad there are people like you looking out for us.
This is one of those dramas that are just so damn well-made but I just can't love it. The time travel dynamics…
Agree the side characters were somewhat ignored.
It's definitely not perfect but in a way this wasn't meant to be a fairy tale. If these characters were real, a lot of what you consider ethically wrong would probably still happen. Personally, I also don't like the fact that WQS was ignored and then died, but LZW was in love and to him, it was more important to maintain the time loop where he falls in love over and over again, than to save WQS's life, who is frankly, a stranger to LZW.
TLDR they could show a very righteous LZW who cares for the good of WQS, but then they would be sacrificing the romance of an "eternal love" across multiple timelines.
CYR had poor mental health so you're gonna have to go easier on her. Perhaps she felt entitled to MJJ and I can't really speak to why she feels that way, but I can say that it's incredibly common even irl where the nice guy gets nothing and gets manipulated. CYR killing herself doesn't mean MJJ needs to take the blame, but being the nice guy he will take the blame to save her dignity. Ultimately, it's also up to the nice guy to be more assertive and move on if their love interest isn't interested. If anything, CYR learned this and learned to move on from LZW and appreciate MJJ more by the end of the drama.
TLDR mental health is scary and it can make people do things they know are wrong. Even without mental illness, CYR may still manipulate MJJ.
The scene with LZW and (young) HYX isn't creepy, he was just helping her out and having fun. If you mean that LZW is making a move on a child, well again that didn't really happen, it was more like the opposite. If you mean that it implies something that happens in the future, it's not rly creepy if they love each other as adults right? who says age needs to be a barrier in love?
Fyi, there's an extra scene showing them as adults if you want to see them meet as adults.

Awesome drama but ending was too tame 9/10
