I can’t believe there is an actual nickname for Jing fans called JINGERs??? XD Y’all are so creative.
I think fan wars are so funny and pointless but just for the fun of it I hope that JINGERs who are hating on Xiang Liu realise that if it wasn’t for him, the Jing man wouldn’t have gotten the girl, he wouldn’t even have been able to save her from getting married, actually his girl would be dead and so would he. He would be shark food right now floating in the ocean if XL didn’t swoop in to save the day again. LMFAO
So, if I was Jing Man right now, I’d be keeping a Xiang Liu shaped doll at my bed side to worship every day by now. I definitely wouldn’t want my fans to hate on the man who saved me from being fish meat. Tsk tsk y’all have all the wrong priorities - you should be starting a gofundme for Chubby by now and volunteer for upkeep of his little underwater shell bar - to show appreciation for Xiang Liu. 😝😂
Even tho I am a bigger fan of CX and XL, I think Jing got the short end of the stick. He had more of a role and…
Yeah the execution of his character was honestly really bad. It was almost like the drama writers WANTED us to hate him. Even in the very last episode he is getting his ass saved by someone else, weeping and crying and also, I know I can get hanged for this around these parts but Deng Wei is the WEAKEST link in a cast that has Zhang Wanyi, Yang Zi and Tan Jian Ci- his acting is definitely not on the same level with the other 3 beasts and it really showed and did him no favours. If his character’s writing and the acting was more nuanced, I would probably feel more than the sheer indifference I felt for him throughout the show.
Well, to be fair, Jing is technically a failed husband to FFYY, failed father to his son. He tainted XY image…
LMAO Yes like I always say we can understand why she is with Jing not because of Jing himself and the lack of redeeming qualities but for Xiao Yao, her trauma and her fear of abandonment because surely, a rebel general and a king of all of Dahuang have more possibilities of abandoning her than the little Jing man who clings to her skirts and begs to be saved.
She never saw him as her first choice, never made him believe she could love him back. Instead, she only deepened…
Honestly, I feel like XL had the best ending. With those episodes, he really became the main character. He was too broken of an individual to be fixed by a woman anyway so he went out in style. Though Cang Xuan? 1000% he could fall for the new and updated version of Nian. If only he got his head out of the incest fantasy.
As much as I was not a fan of Jing soggy noodle, can we really hold it against Xiao Yao for choosing him? I mean one of the options available was a king whose first choice would be the throne with 497493 wives chilling on the side.
The other option aka the person MOST suited to her - my Xiang Liu - was shackled by his cause. Sure, there’s a huge “what if” element here but XL has been burdened as the general of the doomed army for so long, it’s become his identity and his mission for existence. He cannot erase that for a woman.
So, who is left without a cause, without ambition and without any job except flailing around, apparently? Jing Man! He is the only one available 24/7/365 to play the cottage core househusband that Xiao Yao needs.
He doesn’t have a country to run, no army to lead, zero priorities and common sense LMFAO so it’s the perfect case of “I am going to fix him and keep saving him” for Xiao Yao’s saviour complex that would keep her busy the rest of her life because now, that his 20 year engagement is broken, man is free to pluck from the garden like a little purple pansy.
So yes, I agree with XY’s choice. You do you girl. You get your happiness from wherever you can! ❤️
This is an incredible review❤️❤️ Now i need to prepare myself to complete the drama, my poor weak heart…
Even though it strongly insinuates at stuff, I have tried my best to avoid talking about specific things that happen so I hope nothing is spoiled for you and you can still enjoy the things as they come!
Also I know censorship sucks but, I am here to rant. I am not happy with the absolute COP OUT that was the fate Cang Xuan was dealt with.
You cannot absolutely show this man bubbling, simpering, FESTERING in his feelings for Xiao Yao like an open wound for 19 episodes and convince us that he is on the tip of doing something dangerous and then actually let him reach a breaking point and make that selfish, vicious choice that destroys it all - which BTW would totally be consistent with his character because of how suffocated his character has been throughout - and then be like JUST KIDDING. Hehe. FALSE ALARM.
Oh cause I am going to believe that this man with a black streak of ruthlessness has had a total change of heart and now, he is going to be there on the side raising cups to Jing noodle and saying ta ta bye bye to a love which had been his DARKEST, longest obsession??
I am not saying I am not happy about it because sure, that’s great but also, the beauty of LYF is the fact that it breaks your heart, rips it into two and NOTHING would have been more heart wrenching than ripping away the “two bodies - one soul” connection these two had.
That was meant to be and the original novel wrote it like that for a reason. Somethings aren’t meant to be interfered with. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.
You know what totally broke me? The scene where he decimates Xiao Yao with his words, makes her bleed and convinces her that she is nothing to him. He watches her walk away, thinking the worst of him but the moment she stumbles and falls, he is there. Catching her. Protecting her like he has always done. Always, without her knowing. Always, from the shadows.
And, he knows.
He knows this is the end. So, the first time, we see him actually cry. You see his heartbreak and pain and even then, you see him press his lips to her wounds to heal her. He heals her even as he comes apart.
And, it completely broke my entire fucking heart.
With that ending - beautiful, heroic, glorious and devastating - he became the hero of the show. Because he is the only one we lost forever.

Yes or yes or 1000000 fucking percent yes? 🤡
