See here's the problem... the recent solar eclipse was partially within my vicinity of sight which I didn't realize. I definitely took a peek at it for a solid second then got lectured by my friends when I told them lol

same! I feel like I'm committing a crime by looking when he was flexing those muscles. Well not like i get excited in general but when i remembered the age i felt it was wrong to even stare. I keep reminding myself i stare for aesthetic purposes LOL i appreciate the hard work at the gym which I wish i had the discipline for. Then i start thinking about how before he shot that scene he was probably doing a lot of pumps for those muscles to show up which causes me to take the scene less seriously.

yeah i noticed that... i like to think maybe she said it low enough where it can barely be heard ( for my sanity i throw logic out the window when i watch). Third uncle doesn't know but i do feel he has his own suspicions if not simply turning a blind eye as her existence does fill in the guilt that plagued him for years regarding his sister and when the real jiang li was young.

I definitely understand where you are coming from. I personally think the ban on rebirth is so stupid. I'm also anticipating for when this drama airs cause i really liked the novel. I would much prefer there be two seasons as well. There was so much details in the novel that was just *chefs kiss*. Though I also think potentially 36 episodes is quite doable if done right ( though i doubt it.... hoping they surprise me with a good adaptation. Am hopeful! the original plotline was already very good... as long as they stick with the general plotline then even better. the one drama that aired recently is going pretty well so I'm hopeful). I feel it is possible since much of what we read is description which doesn't take up time visually. As long as they are purposeful with which plots to highlight and which scenes to show.... 36 episodes is possible... maybe they can shorten their intro and ending if that's a thing LOL. I kind of have a love hate relationship with the limitations of the episodes and time. I feel a good story shouldn't be limited by the amount of episodes and how long the episode is. Some visual aspects just look so nice elongated too to give room for thought. However... before they implemented the limitations... a lot of dramas was just so long and it definitely didn't need to be. Many dramas were using fillers throughout to absolutely just milk the plotline.. Side characters and side stories that added nothing to the overall story. Details mentioned at first that's just disregarded and forgotten...which in that sense i do think the limitations allow the production to be more purposeful on what they choose to add in the final cut.

Loved her for that too... though i personally would have loved it more if she stabbed then twist the knife for extra pain.

yeah i don't really watch her videos for recommendations but watch her videos just to see what she says out of curiosity. Outside if she may have wrong information like how apparently WYX does dub with his own voices but she said he didn't, she does point out valid points and perspectives otherwise. I think most of her views makes a lot of sense. She comes from a place of having knowledge of the industry and watching far too many dramas. I don't take her videos to heart because in reality we have different taste in dramas. She isn't able to turn off her knowledgeable side so she will innately be more critical person in general. A lot of what she said about this drama, I saw from a mile away and also noticed. I thought many of the things she mentioned about this drama in relation to the camera work and the plotline logic. However I don't mind turning off my brain on that aspect which is why she said if you can ignore it then it's a pretty good drama lol. I do feel she prefers dramas that are more literary / mature. which are dramas i personally dislike but those tend to have better writing and larger production overall aka better camera work too.

sameee! i started this just to have something to watch casually while i eat since i didn't want a drama to commit to but then it sucked me in. After i realized it's based on a novel from the author who wrote another novel i really liked... it all made sense. But now I'm in constant anxiety over the lives of the side characters i like because I don't have that much trust in chinese directors/writers since... lowkey they be notorious for favoring a twisted sad aftermath of characters and endings.

LOL you're right. I guess I rather think on the positive end that they support her since during the time her father was in charge, the place was prosperous and they want what they once had rather than their current situation. The betrayal would only give them temporary shelter over the hope that their life would change completely if her dad comes back. It's no surprise for several in the capital that she "looks" like fang fei anyways. But those that knew her more intimately/ grew up with her around in a sense in her village wouldn't rat her out out of loyalty. I feel like those that had potential of betrayal would have already left the moment her dad fell off. Also at this point her identity feels like the crucible... can say and make claims but unless there's evidence it means nothing... which back then that in itself in hard to prove.

You know... I appreciate his hard work at the gym and that he did pumps before his shoot ... but then I'm reminded I shouldn't be eyeing a young man like that but I'm still looking LOL

lol it's definitely a romance/couple thing that some people just have. My brother and sis in law had several of those moments before. I picked them up at the airport once and they were both wearing denim colored shirts. I clocked them for having couples outfits and they were all confused.

I didn't view it as an indication any of the parties were not interested in the story itself. Yes it's a strong phrase but it is using the opportunity where the manga/novel is popular even though the story is not yet complete. This in turns makes the idea of the second movie happening to be delayed because there is a high chance there wont be enough content. That's why even if they are to make another movie it would most likely be delayed. Regardless of how busy the people may be. Hence at this current time one can be optimistic but we can never be sure if enough time passes if they are still interested. Although maybe they already signed a contract but they might be too busy and no longer interested... it's a race against time. of course any director would love to make a second movie if the first was good but this isn't an original script so they can only follow the original source which again... isn't complete? we don't know when it will be either? That's why I'm not that optimistic but i can be surprised. A second movie would be great but to make a second one with again the original isn't complete yet? Unless they plan to change the ending from the source? I don't forsee an attempt to make a trilogy as the plan ( again i can be surprised). I'm thinking in terms of timing. It's good to film while the story is popular but the fact that they filmed when there isn't a clear ending yet is what makes this a cash grab to me. it's ill timing. But again maybe the author told them the ending, maybe they didn't. They probably didn't want to wait for an uncertain ending date. But waiting would have allowed for more content rather than a first movie and only a "maybe" for the second. Because at the end of the day it created uncertainty. I welcome to be proven wrong as i really like the story but... I'm just thinking about the timeline

well honestly I don't think they will make another movie as i feel this was more of a cash grab opportunity. If they plan on making a second one... it wouldn't be for quite some time potentially because movies typically condenses the plotline more than an anime would so they might not have enough material to make another movie yet. At that point the actors/actresses might not be so inclined. The part that sucks the most is the original source material manga/novel is still ongoing and has been since like 2018.

Yeah I like Victor Ma in HL a lot as well but i can see where the issue as to why this wouldn't work as compared to go go squid situation. When go go squid happened, Hu Yi tan was casted in a minor role during the time where he wasn't too big. So after he grew more popular he would be able to keep his role as the main lead for the go go squid 2 without any issues. You can see that wasn't the case for the female lead as they had completely switched her out from the first one. Similarly for this situation... unfortunately Victor Ma isn't big enough to keep his role. Nor is there any sentimentality to keep him since there's a different director and i heard a different production team as well. As for Bai Jing Ting being casted in HL instead from the get go was also not going to happen for similar reason. He's relatively big so his pay would need to be equally as big as the leads in HL at that time. To which maybe production is unwilling to pay that much which is why minor characters tend to be less known than the leads. Only other exception where someone popular would join in a minor role is out of connections, sentimentality or straight up production paid them enough to appear. Most known actors/actresses once they get big they don't act as minor roles unless it's a huge production where majority of the actors/actresses are filled with known people.

where did you read the script was declined by many actors?

was it a change during or its just having a co-director? Either way that wouldn't or shouldn't really affect the finale outcome unless the show is airing while filming. I believe if a director is changed during the filming process, what is shot would typically be replaced unless it aligned with the directors vision. I would think what has been aired as the final vision is what we are to expect was approved by the director... well actually more like the producer but that's a different story.

same! I've been hyping this drama to two other people who said they will wait till the drama is completed. I told them that I'll inform them if the ending flops or not. Based on what I'm seeing I think this will be good... well good enough since I'm not too critical with dramas to begin with. From what I've seen I feel the script writer and director filmed and edited this looking at the story as a whole so it feel it would be a rather complete ending but who knows.

I didn't expect there would be a day where I would be this obsessed over watching a drama and even anticipating the next ep. The last time I felt this way was over 9 years ago. Normally I'm someone who can wait for all the episodes to come or am willing to get all the spoilers that come my way but I must say I'm so enamored with this script and directing. Such a good balance of light hearted but not to cringey while some anticipation. Every scene felt like it served a purpose and any additional add ons to the original novel makes the story flow much better and hold more meaning. Full story moments will always have a place in my heart and this one has so many. The scriptwriter did great with this one and the director did so well with the pov.
