Is this really worth watching?(Critical opinion without bias pls)Not really liking the written plot (not that…
Looking at your rating on other dramas this drama may not be one you will like a lot to be honest. I also don't mind cliche tropes that much. I personally am on the more lenient side when it comes to watching dramas so I really like it so far. Even more with the changes that was seemingly made from the web novel. I have an aversion to slapstick/cringe humor but even though this drama has a fair bit of it. The writer and director did just enough where I'm not needing to pause and want to die from watching it. I feel the main aspect that makes me like this drama a lot is the fact i cannot tell where the plotline is truly going. There is a basic outline but the script writer changed just enough to make this interesting. Most of all i like how the drama incorporates flashbacks and the time slip. Nothing feels like a filler to me and what i love most is how each subtle moment has a full story moment which i find so valuable in story telling with telling in different perspectives and explaining each persons actions. Someone mentioned this which i full hearted agree is that as your watch, you can go back and rewatch where each moment holds a different meaning corresponding to the changes she has made. This makes the reactions of the characters even more meaningful and best part is they don't need to even refilm for that subtle impact from a viewers pov. Well that is for the time being. If you are into the minutiae details of a story then this might be worth a try to some extent.
Not gonna lie... I'm too scared to watch this at all because of how everyone is talking about the big changes…
I remember keeping up with the fan translations before an official company took over the translations. I personally preferred the fan translations more but alas that was too bad. Now I want to go back and reread the novel.
Yes! The team did really well is adapting the novel. I guess my only issue was they didn't adapt the novel in its entirety though I can see why since that would have required a lot of episodes and I don't think the budget was that high. They were quite smart with the way they merged some aspects of the story to allow for fewer actors/actress to fit their budget which is quite smart but left a semi unsatisfying ending.
Honestly Xu Xu's calm and logical nature was the aspect I loved most too which is why I'm probably still avoiding the thai version LOL Maybe it's smart to imagine this as a fan-fiction to get over the hurdle. I'm such a sucker for romance but I can't handle cringe too well without pausing and I can sniff it a mile away from the trailer scenes.
Watched the Chinese adaptation a couple of years ago so can't really be sure, but the cases in Thai version seem…
Not gonna lie... I'm too scared to watch this at all because of how everyone is talking about the big changes in the plot and... well the female character LOL. I feel like this wouldn't have bothered me too much if they didn't label this as an adaptation of When a Snail Falls in Love and I didn't know this was an adaptation. Knowing it is supposed to be based on it is what is bothering me so much. I'm not typically one of those people who nitpick too much on novel vs manga vs movie/drama but man do i feel like i relate to those people for this though. I liked the Chinese drama that i went and read the novel itself which makes me like the two leads dynamic so much. This was especially the case because i feel personally they connected intellectually more than anything else. The fact Xu Xu's character was portrayed as smart, level headed and thinks through common sense. A little too much to the point being almost lower EQ. The male lead i felt balanced her out because outside being smart and with experience, he had a higher EQ. Yet when i watch the trailers and FMV of the thai version to get the feel of the drama I'm just utterly shocked how the female lead for this is so...impulsive and silly? To me defeats the purpose of the original storyline.
But i digress... will come back here occasionally to try to bring myself to watch it every time lol. I mean seeing yo and a few people say it's pretty okay/good makes me wanna try.... but I'm still trying to get over the hurdle of comparison.
I agree that the FL is rather plain. I’ve noticed that he’s been paired with a lot of older actresses recently.…
As someone mentioned... it is very common for one of the leads to be a bit younger to gain experience. But also the main other aspect is exposure for the younger lead so a lot of agents/companies will try to get their talent to be in a drama or movie with someone well known ( which often correlates with age). As much as one would hate to hear it but essentially Xu Kai is gaining popularity by sharing screens with all those older actresses. I'm saying this as someone who likes to watch Xu Kai on the screen too but the reality is Xu Kai is only benefitting by being on the screen with all those said older actresses. So basically he's not being bullied but very much heavily favored.
I also don't find Seven the most pretty actress out there but I'm kind of looking forward to this drama because Seven is the actress. I'm not her fan or anything but from everything I've read about her ( now i could be wrong)... she doesn't belong to any big agency so often times all the roles she won are because of her name and skill alone rather than connections from a huge company. Then the other aspect based on what I've seen is that her selection of dramas are meticulous. Her MDL average rating for dramas where she is the main lead is on the higher side compared to most actors/actresses which is really rare. Her dramas are often a big hit with the general audience of all ages not just drama watchers like us. Her one drama even reached to my godmother who doesn't watch young actors/actresses. In fact she praised the dramas as being so great she told my mom to watch it and they both don't know any of the actors/actresses in the drama. So that gives me some hope this may be a good drama as it may help Xu Kai reach a greater audience. But i also could be completely wrong and this may be her worst drama of the century which i hope not for both leads sake.
I had the same question when I started my cdrama journey and I’m Chinese myself! I think it’s the trend there.…
LOL don't be fooled by them skinny looking dudes! They can surprisingly be very strong like my brother who is extremely skinny and has a hard time gaining weight. Though I would like more muscles on the male celebrities too.
Not trying to come off too much but you're holding yourself on a high pedestal. Since when was it the job of people…
It doesn't matter about R1SE or not. Just because these groups come out from this show doesn't mean they are to be holding the standard of whatever group. Again, not all R1Se fans care for this season and not all people who care for this season care about R1SE. If you aren't in any way of understanding the full scenario then I don't think you should be one to judge the people voting. That's just it. Like I said, unless you have actually looked at the statistics, the ranking on the 30 + platforms, donated money ( if able to) and as well as engaged of the actual situation of company interferences and rigging, you shouldn't be putting any blame on the voters or even have the rights to put yourself on a high pedestal. Other voters aren't voting to please R1SE fans. Again if you feel any ranking is unjust, know the full situation first and be the change not putting blame. I stand by my statement regardless of how well R1SE is doing or was doing before disbanding.
I am really very disappointed with the founders, you guys love playing so much that whoever should enter the debut…
Not trying to come off too much but you're holding yourself on a high pedestal. Since when was it the job of people who watch the show to care if they disappoint R1SE fans? I don't think you represent all R1Se fans either. If you want a change in the system then go be the change not telling other people they are in charge of it or that what they are doing is a disappointment. How is one to judge they aren't trying their hardest? Have you been looking at the statistics? Have you been donating to the fanbase (if you are able to)? Have you been participating in all the 30 + different ranking on the Chinese platforms? If not , one really shouldn't be talking about replacement or whatever. A new group is formed after the previous group is disbanding, doesn't mean they are there to satisfy "R1SE" fans. Not all R1SE fans watch this season or are there for the new group and not all the fans of this new season are fans of R1SE. Most importantly, have you not considered the productions rigging on ranking, company interferences before saying people who do vote haven't done enough?
I heard that voting alone doesn't secure a trainee position, according to someone that have weibo, "the fandom…
Just my theory and my general understand of how production works. Warning long tangent / explanation from personal observation.
I think voting alone can secure a spot in terms of ranking. However, there are more than one type of ranking that many international viewers don't pay the clearest attention to and also don't really participate in. Reason why they say donations are a bigger role is because it essentially shows how much the fanbase cares to secure the idols spot to debut. Also a way for the production to be unable to entire rig the system. (also for the greedy production to make hella money). I don't know on the extent the company can rig the show. I do know however, that companies can pay to give their trainees more screen time. More screen time = getting more noticed by fans = more votes = securing a spot. There's a reason why you see international trainees getting a large majority screen time in the initial episodes. That was to draw in international viewership. Also notice how originally 5 of them came from the same company and they get a lot more screen time compared to many of the other international trainees? Note the correlation to screen time to popularity? Now this doesn't apply to all trainees. Sometimes fan votes play a bigger role. Nine and Patrick to my knowledge don't seem to have the biggest company backing. However, they have a larger international fanbase from their previous activities. Liu Yu who from what I've heard has little to no company backing (rumors has it his company amounts to about 10 people with two artist signed under it. One being Liu Yu LOL). His current ranking is literally all fan support. This proves it's not entirely company oriented. Now why they are talking about fans raising money. There are many rankings that are advertised in the episodes. There are reblogging, reposting and sharing rankings ( this is free) that awards the number one trainee with either a vlog of some sorts. There is also rankings on who gets to vlog. For free you can vote only one trainee and vote once a day. However with money you can add on more votes. There are ranking for trainees to gain advertisement or sponsorship for their products. That's all "donation." Many different rankings are money oriented which would award the trainee more opportunities = potentially more screen time. They are essentially raising money to keep their trainee on screen. The only way to get screen time is either be supported by a large company, the production or the fans. I can already get a general idea of which trainees fall under fall under what type of category based on screen time and edit. Also by looking at these different rankings, you can kind of get an idea of who the popular trainees (mostly in China) are. China is a bulk of the votes.
I felt sorry for Li Jiaxiang he gets eliminated first round, if he should apologize in the first place like to…
I personally don't like his attitude but I never thought he was a bad person. Guy was simply not ready to appear on tv. He is truly bad with his words and I have mentioned this before but he would have had a higher chance surviving with his mouth shut Hopefully he can have a second chance... but learn how to talk first.
I want to go on a bit of a rant. 1. Rikimaru deseres to get PAID. This man literally spends his time learning…
Um.. granted I never saw the previous seasons before either but Idol Producer/ Youth With You is a completely different filming format than Produce 101 / Chuang. You keep referencing to Zhang Yixing... but he was mentoring for a different show, a show that films in a different format... I watched parts off the format of idol producer/Youth with you. Now watching Chaung/ Produce 101 and taking glimpse at the previous seasons... Youth with You/ Idol producer focuses way more on interaction of the mentors and trainees and shows more of what goes on in class. They often slow clips of the interaction and the teaching. Whereas Produce 101/Chuang, I have notice they don't show too much of the training process like idol producer/Youth with you. Chuang also consists of less episodes and is way more densely packed. Another thing I have noticed is Chuang doesn't hide that they have actual vocal and dance coaches outside of the mentors we see that do help the trainees. Yet at the same time there are instances you actually do see the mentors teaching the trainees but its all like recaps where we don't get the full picture. I noticed Chuang likes to show trainees interacting with one another more. I guess it has to do with the fact they have less episodes than YWY. Most clips you do see are the trainees practicing outside of class. Hence where we are seeing all the other trainees assisting one another. Before blaming the mentors for what you think aren't doing their jobs ... remember that the format of the show isn't showing what you desire. Before putting Rikimaru on a high pedestal, yes he is helping a lot of his fellow trainees but he isn't the only one helping. The show obviously likes to give a lot of screen time to Rikimaru and Santa so we see they are helping the trainees a lot. A lot of trainees worship them and go to them when class is over. But they aren't the only ones. Ep 4 we get a glimpse that there are a lot of other "teacher" trainees. But they aren't nearly popular enough to be getting the same amount of screen time as Rikimaru and Santa. Lastly, the situation with Patrick and Nine. Although very iffy. I saw people mention that Nines bonus round, he sang off key or something of that level which was cut out or edited out post production because they want their international audiences... since Nine and Patrick are very popular. The mentors probably heard something or felt like that performance didn't do anything to boost their opinion of Nine. Note that bonus rounds are meant to almost show off your skills and further impress the mentors. I guess they weren't too impressed. IDK about the other mentors but I have good faith in Zhou Shen, he is a great singer and i guess he heard something that I on the other hand wouldn't hear. Granted, yes they coulda have gone into way more details analyzing Nine but idk... they are all next next next.
I don't want to seem rude by any means but I did not understand your sentence in the grammatical sense... So I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say. Again. There's no ep 3 part 3. However, there are SIDE episodes like dorm diaries, teasers, vlogs, Are you a werewolf, Practice sessions, etc. You do not have access to dorm diaries and practice sessions unless you are VIP member. This applies to Chinese tencent as well. But no official episodes like ep 3 part 3. If I hadn't made that clear they at most so far only broken an episode into 2 parts BUT they can so only one part only like ep 2 if you hadn't cared to notice that the episode was only one part. Not even Tencent post a schedule of there being a part 3 in Chinese. It's even blatantly translated on their IG as someone said. At the end of every Episode part 1 or 2 or just one part. They post the weekly schedule at the very end of the episode. If you stick long enough to care to notice that they already inform you how many parts an episode has. I'll do you the favor https://gyazo.com/3d5fc5a5b2310540e1302aa84b87d801 Yellow boxes = official episodes. If you can read some Chinese characters. You know know there isn't a part 3. okay guys you've seen pt 2 right? so I hope you don't think negatively about R1SE especially to think they messed…
I didn't watch part 2 yet but I already figured it wasn't going to happen. Logically, it would never happen. First off Zhennan is a mentor so it would impede judgement. That is unless he's the only one not participating which is highly unlikely. Secondly, they already debuted as group from the show so it wouldn't make sense for them to join in even if their contract is about to be over. This isn't an all-star season. Secondly, it would encounter a lot of hate from the general public. As a marketing strategy, it is a stupid thing in every way anyone looks at it.
Yes! The team did really well is adapting the novel.
