Actually. I agree. Romance isn't physical. Quite the opposite in fact. Physical can at times, but not always just mean sex. That's not my thinking in regard to this series. Let's face it, as @bonnie so eloquently pointed out, as much as he has huge respect for her, is protective, sees her in his very own words as 'a genius', he hasn't been kind or emphatic, quite the opposite. He's been vile to her. However, I do understand his motives. Imagine anyone of authority in your life speaking to you in such a way, let alone a friend, family or potential lover. I wouldn't speak to any living soul the way he has spoken to her. Every human has a sense of right and wrong from a very, very early age. This is a fact. There is no way, and believe me, I am a writer for UK hospitality, a 3 Michelin star chef wouldn't have the emotional intelligence and skills, irrespective of crippling stress and narcissism to know how to speak to his team and react and nurture a mentee. If anything, their ego for success and needing her would deliver quite the opposite response. Which is where this drama has fallen massively down in my regard.

I really enjoyed these last episodes from 29-32. Finally some progression. I loved the way Jian Qian Fan laid his heart bare in ep 29 to Lin Ke Song. Their 'honesty' conversation was lovely. Huge, huge for him. Finally someone he can trust. I adore the way he continually demonstrates his struggles so beautifully as an actor, with the way he bites down on his lower right hand jaw when he's in true anguish and trying to control himself. I never miss this and always feel for him in this regard. I sense he's trying so hard to be in control, but rarely accomplishes it. You can also see through these episodes that he has fallen in love with her. She relaxes him. Comforts him. Calms him. Makes him laugh (something I don't think he's ever been used to doing). Quite simply, he knows he's found his soulmate, whom he can be himself with and trust implicitly. Even Elise who I despise, has shown her journey through these episodes. I genuinely feel she continues to feel remorse and of course guilt, simply from the way she dealt with Li Yin. Song Yi Ran is finally maturing into a resplendent adult willing to take ownership and responsibility. However, I believe Lin Xiao Yu may be in for the greatest downfall (never shit on your family) comes to mind! Karma me thinks is coming knocking for her oh so soon.

EP 40, last 5 minutes #Joking but don't be surprised if it is.

When the synopsis clearly says, food, comedy, romance in the description, I think it's fair to expect at least a minimum of each as a given. Don't you? Comedy, this is a comedy? Don't make me laugh. #Snigger. Maybe you think 28-32 episodes of a 40 episode drama is progression in their romance. I don't. Hey, I 'd even settle for a few typical tropes - long stare, trip into his arms, racing heart beat, even a bloody fever from the rain would be great at this stage. #Laughing

Same here, I also adored it in the beginning and now I'm just angry and irritated. What is it with the Chinese constantly positioning their woman as subservient, childish and weak? I just don't get how such a powerful nation feels proud about showcasing their women to the world in this way! I find it truly astounding. You're so on point about not telling Qianfan about the porridge and medicine, even about the conversation with the doctor - this would never happen and insults our intelligence. How can the writers position him as being so dumb not to trust Nina, but in ep 19, ask Elise to date again, after pretty much every episode up to this point he'd told her that he didn't love her? Of course, I do think he knows its Elise - I just think the writers took such a bad decision with the plot to take his 'not knowing' from what I've seen from the preview spoilers to at least episode 32! Yes, we all love a good drama, but tell me a human who can pretty much sit through nearly 28-32 hours of a drama with no respite for the good guys. Could have been so damn good too!

28 episodes in and even by usual Chinese 40 episode standards, I can honestly say I’ve never watched a drama more utterly frustrating at such a late stage in episodes. 28 episodes of zero repercussions, leads not getting a break and simply coming across as dumb, and let’s not even go there with the lack of any romance! #Sigh

Don’t even get me started on Tong’s mullet, so, so bad #snigger. 🤣Wayu’s changed in the latter part of S1 and continues to be dreadful. Pok’s grease back could supplement a UK greasy spoon for at least 6-months. What were the stylists thinking? Or not, as it appears!

14 episodes in of 16. Honestly, how can this drama be pitched as a romance? We’ve watched 14 episodes of supposedly highly intelligent people get utterly twatted by bad people. It’s become bloody exhausting.

Also, did I dream it, EP 13, she was lying beside him on a floor as he slept. Nothing in EP 14 about this.

Uugh! 2 more episodes left and we all know it’s going to be a furiously rushed unfinished job! So bloody disappointing.

Oh I'm pretty sure it's intact - have seen no signs of it hanging off/dangling from between her legs from the 18 episodes I've viewed. So don't worry yourself there. Also, judging from her size, physique and those 10-years of sex, I reckon her virgina is in pretty good physical form. Also appears from what I've viewed, male lead can't get enough of it!
