The issue with Border Town Prodigal is that it has been partially subbed. The original subber dropped it and the subber who picked it up went MIA before completing it. It should be picked up and completed.
Thank you very much for checking the article out and giving a comment ^^It's nice to see that you agree with the…
A couple more actors I can totally imagine in this genre are Jang Hyuk, Choi Won Young, Ji Seung Hyun and Yoo Ji Tae.
I'm not gonna argue about that because it is indeed one of the most beautiful places but have you seen photos of New Zealand? ^^ It has some of the most beautiful landscapes I have seen. Makes me totally understand why The Lord of the Rings was filmed there. <3
After this article I'll never see Ummies with the same eyes as before. <3 I always loved the scenes when they provided shelter, warmth and comfort to someone standing in the rain.
I'm sold. I would definitely watch an adaption of this sort and I don't watch Western often, though I like the setting. Ma Dong Seok would nail the character of a Sheriff. Jeju Island does indeed look like the perfect filming location. It's so beautiful. Very interesting article and well executed. ^.^
Can you spoil the ending for me in detail please ?
It's a bit more complex. She's also in love with a student who became the leader of the group. He didn't tell her he's in love with her though and when he kisses her, she's already too deep into her fake identity and realizes the feelings of Mr. Yee towards her are genuine as he's giving her an expensive diamond ring. If this student had shown his love before, this might have ended entirely different.

Wong Chia Chi fell in love with Mr. Yee for real and decides to warn him as he's about to run in a trap. She tells him to run which he does and escapes the set up trap. She and her accomplices are captured and Mr. Yee is told that she was among the group who were after him. He is offered to interrogate her but he declines. In the last scene we see her and the other former students kneeling on the ground waiting to be executed while Mr. Yee is back home, sitting on the bed in the guest room where she stayed, telling his wife that Mrs. Mak (Wong Chia Chi's fake identity) had to go back to Hong Kong.
Great article with lots of good OST singers that are also my favorites. Happy to see Guardian being featured here because this OST was my first favorite. My newest additions are Henry, Quuena and Duo Liang. All three of "The Romance of Tiger and Rose" OST.
Thank you! Btw, I've heard a lot about the drama Jin, it must be popular.I'm replying to comments from my phone…
"Thus, there is a standard for good writing, good editing, etc. " This is pure nonsense in my opinion. If it was true then my taste should probably be 100% bad because I often enjoy things that are rated bad by those critics and often dislike the so called "blockbusters" and mainstream works. Taking the Oscars as an example, it would mean that black or Asian film makers never produced a good movie before the last couple years because they were almost never awarded, only white people. You see the double-standard here? Famous and successful works like Harry Potter were turned down by most book agencies and labeled bad and that no one would want to read this. If there were standards for good writing for example they should've realized that what they were offered was a gold mine, right? Or maybe those standards are just bad or wrong. xD
Congrats to your first article and what an interesting topic you picked. I like historical/period dramas a lot and enjoy watching them. With things like teenage marriage and pregnancy in them I don't have a problem because even before I started watching Asian dramas I was familiar with the accuracy of it in ancient times. That's because I live in a country with lots of old castles that are preserved and therefore history is still very much alive when you go and visit them. One of the most famous questions would also be why the beds of royal people where so short compared to ours today as most people don't seem to know that we are not only having increased life expectation but are also taller compared to our ancestors. :D My favorite historical/period dramas are My Country: The New Age and JIN (the Japanese original version).
I have high respect for your article and the work you put in it but I disagree on some statements and how you phrased them. "which is the whole point of watching nonfiction and fictional dramas about ancient and prehistoric events" This might be the point when it comes to you, but it doesn't necessarily apply to everyone else. It's totally fine if historical/period dramas are watched with other intentions. That's entirely up to each individual. "in order to enjoy well written and produced historical & period dramas and to avoid giving masterpieces low ratings, it requires a mind that would avoid the bias of presentism" The definition of a well written and produced historical/period drama lies in the eyes of the beholder. Ratings are subjective and will likely never be able to match our personal point of view. Even without the bias of presentism there are many reasons entirely unconnected to the historical aspect to dislike a drama.

Guardian was my first C-Drama and also managed to make me stick to dramas. :)
