I wouldn't say China is fine with BL novels. Otherwise Chinese BL authors wouldn't have to publish their works online and under a pseudonym. I read about authors that got arrested for writing BL novels in the past when their identity was leaked/exposed, not sure if this situation changed, personally I doubt it.

I second this. It's so annoying and time consuming to deal with them anyway. There are much better ways to spend your time. For example: Rewatch The Untamed or read the novel! Who's with me? ^^

Based on the synopsis of the movie it sounds like they make a movie adaption from the novel but being really "creative" in their interpretation of the original novel (I haven't read the novel yet but I'm about to start). I will probably watch the movie but just like you I'm quite sure that all it shares with the real thing will just be the name so I made sure to have really low expectations. I totally agree with your comment and what you wrote about Guardian and the actors Zhu Yi Long and Bai Yu. They brought Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan to life, for me it's unimaginable that someone else plays this characters no matter how good of an actor it might be.
