I know what you mean and I got into the same mood as you. I just completed the drama though. It gets better and even if there are no tombs there are still interesting things going on and riddles to solve. Plus Pang Zi and Wu Xie in episode 31 are hilarious. You should keep watching. :)

Well the end is rather abrupt and now I know why (watched it in 2019 when second season was not announced then). So no, it's not really a stand alone. I can't recommend the drama anyway. Nothing special about it, the romance of the main leads kept me watching but the rest is not worth it.
Any constructive criticism of this drama is justified (not hate though). It lacked big time when it comes to story writing. The plot holes could swallow an elephant. In the end I was left behind with a lot of unanswered questions and was really unsatisfied. This had so much potential but what they delivered couldn't live up to the expectations. What really fed me up was the obsessive amount of product placement though. The more products they praised in the drama the more I felt like I was watching a teleshopping channel show with a bit of story placed around it. They practically shoved us in the face how delicious the chicken is, that we need this mask or beauty products for our skin, car brands were zoomed in....and worse, when you got a piece of character development they focused on the stupid coffee bottle on the table instead of the characters. I have to applaud them though, they made sure I will never purchase any of these products and saved me a lot of money. I gave it a really kind 6.5 rating. For the advertisement that mocks the viewers intelligence and worth they would deserve a 1.0 rating.
