Theme in both dramas is INTERCULTURAL DATING,

ML & FL are from different countries.

In WCAL it's South. Korea and Japan,
it's a modern realistic setting.

In FJS it's Thailand and a made up fictional country, set in fictional historical desert setting with different kingdoms.

Both are 20th century historical korean dramas, with a setting/theme of theater as central part of plot.

Musical theatre/Theatre a central part of plot in both.

Even the actress (Kim Yoon Hye) is playing a side character in both.

I think anyone into theatre or musicals could enjoy both.
