There's only a 5 year age Gap in real life between the leads .... isn't this tag a bit unnecessary 😅😅😅?I…
It’s really good so far! It starts off pretty light and comedic, but has gotten a bit more serious. Hopefully you enjoy it too when you decide to start 😊
Also, I know what you mean about the iqiyi app - luckily I also have the tv app which has no ads thank god
While that first commenter was unnecessarily rude, they have a right to be offended by your comment. When people come onto a drama page and say shit like “oh I really like actor xyz I wish they were ML/FL instead,” you are also passive aggressively throwing shade at the actual lead for that show. Even if you didn't mean it that way, that’s the way it will come across to a lot of people, particularly the lead’s fanbase
In comparison to most XK fans on this site, I am really pretty chill and I don’t get offended as easily, but your comment took EVEN ME aback enough to warrant this reply. If you really meant no hate on XK, all is well - I just advise you be . . . careful regarding word choice in the future 🤷🏼♀️
Is anyone else watching this on the iQiyi TV App? And if so, are you also having issues with subtitles NOT showing up?
I watched the first 5 episodes fine, but yesterday the subtitles for this show - ONLY this show - just don't appear. The black box where they should appear is present, but no text. Subtitles do work on my mobile app and laptop which I've been making do with so far - but I'd prefer to watch this on a large screen TV and not my tiny ass laptop monitor. The crazy thing? Subtitles work on every single other show I've tried - it's JUST How Dare You?
I have tried everything I can possibly think of - logging out and back in, clearing my watch history, making sure I have subtitles turned on and on the right language. The only thing left to do is remove and re-install the app which I'd rather not do. Anyone else having this issue/have a possible fix?
I've had this c-drama on my watchlist for months possibly due to its rating discouraging me to start and other…
I’m a little over half way through and I agree with you 100% so far this drama does NOT deserve such a low rating. MDL ratings are mostly trash though and have been for a long time
And I agree, if you actually pay attention (and not FF through multiple scenes per episode), everything makes sense. But that seems to be a big ask for a lot of people nowadays 🙄
The amount of outright misogyny and even internalized sexism on this site astounds me sometimes. It shouldn’t honestly given the state of the world but the ignorant and bigoted will continue to yap yap yap even if they’re called out 😒
I'm loving this so far but there's one illogical plot point that is annoying me like a pebble in my shoe - I honestly don't get why the Rong family has allowed this He dude to stay? Like if some dude tried to poison the main source of water for MY very prestigious tea crops (let alone ALL the other d-bag crap he's pulled on top of that), I would kick his ass to the freaking curb immediately. Like, why is he still a guest??? I feel like no matter how high a status he has, it doesn't excuse his actions AT ALL. He's a legit psychopath
Man, I just want someone to get him real good in the 'nads, y'know? I am manifesting a horrible painful death for this one (drama gods do not fail me please)
Xu Kai also fulfilled a fan's request for a picture of his cat.https://x.com/i/status/2002015352969154676
Females generally don't grow as big as males do, and that's assuming they are intact (i.e., not spayed/neutered). My family has had several male Maine Coons and they only got to be about 13-15 lbs lean weight, which is on the bigger side for a cat. They were neutered at a younger age (~6 months), but intact males are the ones that generally get really big.

At this point, FI will likely air after even A Cup of Love which apparently just got its distribution license.
Personally, I’m fine if this takes a little longer. I’d rather have XK dramas spread out over the year rather than back to back and then have to wait over a year for his next drama. The span between ABAY and MR was loooong 🫠

I gotta say I’m a bit similar! I watched Under the Skin s1/s2 (S1 was great but S2 was a bit disappointing to me) and I think seeing him in a modern drama helped distance him from Zhou but yeah, I’ve just not wanted to watch any of his other dramas. I know it’s illogical too but what can you do? 🙃

I think I remember seeing that and decided not to say anything because it probably wouldn’t come across as anything except combative. IMO, Zhou was worse because he hid behind the disguise of a good person. Like most of the other men were outwardly horrible but Zhou was insidious in that he portrayed himself as a good man, a green flag, and truly didn’t understand how his behavior toward the FL was awful.
I enjoyed the FL/ML dynamic as well as XK and his family, but that was about it in that drama.

Ugh don't get me started on how awful most of the characters are in that drama, particularly the men - the SML literally made me throw objects across my living room multiple times while i was watching it. Had several crash outs in the comments on the CL page because people were insulting the FL because of SML's actions. F**k that noise man - he is a cockroach dressed in the guise of civility
People complain about SMLs here all the time, but Prince Zhou is one of the worst
As a big fan of the first two seasons of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty (haven't had a chance to watch S3 yet),…
It’s a continuing series with the same cast and everything. So you really do need to watch the seasons in order to get the best out of the series. They often refer to events and characters from previous cases and seasons too. If you decide to watch, I hope you enjoy! ☺️
I’ve not watched any investigative Chinese dramas. How is this one similar or different than other Tang dynasty…
As a big fan of the first two seasons of Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty (haven't had a chance to watch S3 yet), I have to say the bar has been set very high in my opinion. I binged the first two seasons in like 1-2 weeks around this time last year, it was so good (with a rare second season that is just as good if not better than the first)! It's an amazing series - well written, great character development, well-thought out cases that actually make sense once the whole picture is revealed, gorgeous set design, etc. So I definitely recommend if you'd like to check out the genre before this comes out - The series isn't popular on MDL and is incredibly underrated here (probably because it doesn't have traffic stars nor does it focus much at all on romance). You also cannot fast forward anything without missing important info - so people who aren't patient or can't stand a particular character and skip their scenes (aka the majority of c-drama watchers on this site it seems) will miss out on a lot of critical information
I had even hoped XK would eventually do a period investigative drama because of STTD, so my wish has been granted XD I do worry about possible similarities and people comparing to STTD, especially since there are A LOT of other Tang Dynasty investigative dramas currently on deck, including the one with Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue (Unveil: Jadewind - they changed the title I guess), but I'm still excited about this drama and hope it exceeds my expectations ^___^
haha for once I can kinda feel how doctors probably feel when watching medical dramas - as a pathologist myself (although not a human one) I can say that in ep 2, that is NOT how one removes a heart during a postmortem exam. Frankly, I'm surprised the censors allowed them to even show as much as they did (even if it wasn't in any way realistic)
- this doesn't affect my liking of this drama in any way. I just found that scene a bit amusing ^^' I'm quite liking the characters, plot, and pacing so far!
Dropped in the middle, draggy. I read the comment below me, maybe I'll pick it up later.
I have 2 episodes left, and I have to say that so far, the latter half of this drama is MUCH better than the start. I almost dropped in the first 10 episodes (and I rarely drop shows) but saw comments about how the latter part of this drama was better so I decided to stick with it, and I'm glad I did
Also, I know what you mean about the iqiyi app - luckily I also have the tv app which has no ads thank god

If I somehow find a fix (doubtful) I’ll let you know! I’m lowkey hoping subs will work for future episodes but they didn’t work for today either 😖
