I have a feeling Viki can't release it in the US. Disney+ usually has exclusive streaming rights. I'd love to be proven wrong though *sigh*

A significant proportion of us haven't been able to watch yet, as the international distribution has been horribly managed. No one in the US, Canada, or most of Europe has been able to access this legally in their regions without a VPN or by using pirate/illegal sites. So I think this is a case where haters (who don't need to be able to watch the drama, they just give it a 1 and move on to their 5+ other shell accounts and repeat) are a much higher proportion than normal and the relative lack of real watchers isn't enough to counterbalance them. That being said, haters downrated Xu Kai's last drama, ABAY, to like a 6.7 when it first started, so 7.9 is not the worst I've seen.

US watchers won't be able to start watching until next week (Aug 26) because Disney+ has exclusive streaming rights here and has somehow decided that waiting a week is a good idea. As far as I'm aware, other regions don't even have an air date or guarantee it'll be available. Hopefully, other international platforms will get their sh*t together for other regions, so that we may all enjoy this drama

I was not happy when I first found out that Disney+ obtained distribution rights, partly because of the subtitle issue (Viki is the superior platform of them all imo), but also because I knew it wouldn't be available anywhere else if Disney had it. I wasn't expecting this ungodly delay in airing the show though - that's just a cherry on top of everything <__<

So I checked Disney+ again, and it now says "Coming to Disney+ August 26, 2025"

At least we have a date now, even if it's a week late . . .

It doesn't even pop up when I search for it. When I click on links to it that people post here it either says "coming soon - in search of a channel manager" or that it's not available in my region. So who knows?

Preach, my friend. By the time they release this thing, most people will have watched it illegally or with VPNs . . . except me, who refuses to do either, which I guess just makes me a sucker :'(

Yeah, that's one I'm looking forward to as well . . . but I'm on vacation (staycation) this week. I'll be at a work conference all next week, and then I'm back in the office after Labor Day. I was looking forward to some time to just chill after studying 10-12 hrs a day for two months straight @__@

I paid for Disney+ so I guess I should watch something there so I'm not wasting my money *sigh*

I'm just confused as to why other reps would tell other people actual dates/times . . . and then nothing? Like, great way to make angry customers, just saying ^^'

Well, considering that a significant proportion of us haven't been able to watch yet because it's not available anywhere in our regions, there may not be enough people to really make a difference.

Like I said in the comment you replied to, MR is not available on these other platforms in the US. It is regionally restricted. It either does not show up on searches or is listed as 'not available in your region' on WeTV and Viki (believe me, I and many others here have checked multiple times). Without a VPN (which you also have to pay for), the only legal means to watch MR in the United States of America at this moment in time is with Disney+. This is what exclusive streaming rights means.

Maybe Viki will stream it in a few days, but it's unlikely as most Disney+ shows tend to be exclusive. This is how their K-dramas have worked, so it's pretty safe to assume they would require the same exclusivity of any c-dramas they acquire. So no, it's not as simple as go someplace else

The problem is that Disney+ seems to have exclusive streaming rights in the US so there is no other legal option for Americans. I refuse to support illegal sites for multiple reasons and I don’t really want to spend even more $ for a VPN

I don’t know what to watch tbh. I’m almost caught up to LOFG (one more episode) and have a lot of recent dramas on my list that I wasn’t able to watch because I was studying for boards all summer . . . but they’re not what I want to watch right now 😭

Same. This was going to be the highlight of my staycation this week . . . but nope

I have other dramas I can watch, but MR was the one I was looking forward to the most ☹️

If it’s still not up by tomorrow I’ll be writing a very strongly worded email. Probably won’t do any good, but it’ll make me feel like I’ve said my peace at least 😤

I guess that’s what we need to hope for? I’ll take a delay of a couple days over having to wait for it to finish airing in China that’s for sure

I just don’t understand why they won’t release it? It’s not a translation thing because English subs are available on Disney+ Hong Kong. Is there some stupid clause in the distribution contract that prevents them from airing at the same time, like Viki? And if so, they should have an airing date.

The fact that they don’t even have a published air date that their reps can access is suspicious to me. My rep said he didn’t have “access to that info”. It’s hella weird

That may work . . . but I doubt MR has that much pull in the States, especially compared to other franchises Disney+ currently hosts (Marvel Universe, Star Wars, ESPN, Hulu) that likely pull in much more revenue/watchers than a single c-drama - unfortunately 😕

Yeah, since I've become a XK fan, I've never had an issue accessing any of his dramas as they've been airing. I've dealt with the annoying Viki delay, but at least I could watch some of it alongside other fans. Now I feel as though I should just avoid this page like the plague because I don't want to be spoiled and feel this much FOMO.

So I hope ya'll enjoy - and hopefully I (and other US peeps) will be able to watch it soon

No clue. I just contacted Disney+ help services a few minutes ago and got the run-around --> "I'm unable to tell you exactly when it will release," which I don't know about you, but that kinda implies to me "Not anytime soon" -___-

I'll keep checking back because I hope I'm wrong, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they don't release this until AFTER it's done airing in China. There goes the planned highlight of my staycation. I'll just have to watch other shows I guess
