Oh Lati! I totally get how you're feeling. Myself, I need my daily dose of Weilan like on an addiction, be it a video, picture or a fan story. Truth! I saw plenty of so tagged BL dramas, and for the most of them is "obvious" fanservice, ie. kiss, hug, shower, skinship, ... Some of them, im okay with, some others I really disliked ... Because we don't get to feel the love, the chemistry, the longing, the deep understanding between two beings in a relationship weither it is real or not. I dropped a BL drama lately simply because it was so in our face that it turned out unrealistic and unreasonable. When they wanted to please fans, they lost their credibility. We would see two actors simply following a script. I even rolled eyed at their " cute moments" ... Cringy at best...
While, of course, our two male leads here are also reading lines since they are actors too but the feelings we viewers got are totally differents. From the BTS, we can clearly see that they weren't just taken a role and acted it out, they personnified the characters and brought them to life.
Sure enough, we also have to give credit where it is due, without the production crew collaboration, even with their great acting skills, we would not fully grasp it without their efforts. So yup, long story short, this drama is great and it is because the overall participants were willing to give the them all and want to reach the same goal which is to make this story happen. This is a teamwork's product during a period when so many factors are against them.
This drama is far from perfect, but the love/relationship between Weilan is!

Oh, it is great to know that XF character is more multidimensional than thus far. The drama itself starts out interesting enough to hold my interest but since XF and JM and the lot got to the human realm, it gave off this sense of déjà vu aka TMOPB ... I do understand that it was in the novel also but ... the way the producer is representing it on screen wasn't appealing to me. ... and even bored me.
I started to read the novel as well. While I found cute JM character at the beginning. I feel that after 30 episodes, her character hasn't shown much development/maturity. I even thought she's much irresponsible with the marriage and everything. There is clueless and there is going with the flow. Pure and innocence can be cute and endearing. But the way the character has been portrayed so far illustrates childish thinking and behaviors without any hints whatsoever of growing up. It appears to be different from the novel and I think I prefer the writer takes on it.
I took a break from Sweet Dreams to watch this drama but I think I'll go back. As far as I can tell, Run Yu's character in episode 31 is what keeps me from dropping this drama altogether...
Yang Zi's acting reminds me of her role in Legend of the Dragon Pearl and the costar chemistry was great! Deng Lun's portrayal in this drama is alright. But I thought he has much more chemistry with Dilreba in Sweet Dreams and even with Zanilia in Princess Agents...
If there is a novel focus on Run Yu, please kindly let me know.
I first saw him in Advance Bravely and after 27 episodes, I am convinced he is the perfect shou. His acting was quite convincing and looked effortless. Out of all characters, despite him appearing only in few scenes, he stole the spotlight imho! XD

I don't care much for the main pairing anymore. I'm all for Run Yu to be the badass he should be!
