Premiere date pushed from November 11 to the following day. Since it is the exact same time slot than Our Forty Years, I'm happy with the move. Can't wait to see both!
Truth! Because I previously saw black Sabre 1989, I thought couples were fixed and would remain the same. I wouldn't…
He does get to show off his acting skills ¨_^, From all ZYL's costars that I know of, male and female alike, nobody beat Bai Yu yet . So let me know when you'll be done with Guardian so we can chat without spoiling you LOL

Yup, It wasn't him but Boss Xiao, her sifu. Her sifu also like Cui Nong very much. I have to admit that at episode 50, the best scene from the whole episode was with him talking to Cui Nong coffin until his very last breath. The scene by itself wasn't believable in any sense, from the tainted veil from his spurting blood, from how his body remained after he gave away his last breath, but the exchange/monologue was sweet. When Cui Nong died at episode 49, well FHX was angry and shed tears ... but he also left her there on the floor by herself and ran away with MFL. While I do know that it is how Cui Nong would have liked them to do. I still didn't like seeing it. How Cui Nong loved FHX and MFL until the end, likewise, Xiao also liked Cui Nong until his death.
Actually, during that bath sequence, I had thought something wasn't fitting. The earlier scene showed him being hurt and bandaged. Then the following, bath scene with Cui Nong, he simply slips into the water without any problem. While on the back of my mind, I knew something was wrong. I pushed it away and enjoyed the tender moment. I mean there were so many plot holes through all the drama, I thought it was simply another case of bad editing. Also, because while the character wasn't FHX, well, it was still ZYL you know. ^_^ ... then heart crushing moment, when it was revealed that it was only her sifu, right before the "mouth to mouth" kissing !!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I went speechless and downright insane for a couple of minutes, after seeing that. There was no effing M2M at all between the two!!!!! X_X Why do I even care so much? Because there were just too many similar teases! It was as if the production crew takes us as a donkey and show us a carrot in front of us and simply never letting us have it. On another note, I also felt as if they wanted us CuiNong x FHX supporters to realize they will NOT in any way make the two end up together. Unforgivable for fooling around with us and for making such a crappy drama out of a great story!
I think it was also in order to stretch the whole drama to 50 episodes since it is more profitable, the more the episodes, the more the money is. There are 6 or 7 adaptations out there, movies and dramas alike. This version might seem visually appealing at first but LOL don't be deceived by the appearances for it is only a pretty bottle with stale wine.
I have to admit I also dropped this drama at episode 23. Then I stumbled upon that infamous bath scene on bilibili and I resumed watching it until the end. Like you, I don't know the Chinese language either. But I'm learning it through translation. Because while I really really despise this adaptation for its many production flaws, I also feel really strongly for Cui Nong and FHX. For me, the redeemable thing out of this drama was probably to cast ZYL as FHX and Chai BiYun as Cui Nong.
Personally, I really like Gu Long writing style. And yes, Cui Nong is actually much more than a simple love interest for Fu Hong Xue. She was everything to him. The novel made that clear enough. And even via this drama adaptation, we viewers can actually feel the chemistry between the two characters FHX and Cui Nong. And from the actors themselves, ZYL and Chai BiYun.
Between Cui Nong and FHX, there wasn't even a single kissing scene exchanged between the two ( i.e. mouth to mouth and I can't count the bath scene just because ... heck it wasn't even FHX! ) and yet, the audience cheered for a turnaround until the very last scene with Cui Nong dying by her sister. There was no explicit intimate moment per see, and yet we all know, because of chemistry, storywise, character-wise and acting wise, they were meant to be OTP! Simple as that.
On the other hand, Ma Fan Ling character got plenty of "moments" with FHX: plenty of kissing M2M, hugging, sleeping together, having a child together, ... then what?! I have yet to feel that everything remotely romantic between the two of them isn't forced-fed to us. Viewers aren't all airheaded to just accept a romantic storyline without taking things into consideration. It was not so much that I wanted the production crew to replicate the original material. It is more about to create a believable setting that will make the viewers accept the adaptation as a whole new story. And they failed at it. That was likely a script writing issue in my opinion.
Regardless of how this drama had attempted to sell the story between MFL&FHX to us, I strongly believe that FHX and ZYL both would have chosen Cui Nong providing they had a choice.
On a side note, didn't ZYL answered to the "who fall into the water, who would you save first?" question. He mentioned that he would save MFL and then die with Cui Nong. This says a lot!
Please kindly share the link to the demo with us too. ^_^
Thank you and thanked uploader on youtube.
I think I get what you are trying to say. Because after 4 minutes of seeing that demo, ... I admit that I had enough. I didn't feel like finishing it. It was only 8 minutes long and yet, I found it too long already. So imagine a whole series? LOL the death of me.
I have to agree with you in regards to the cast's bad acting or the lack thereof. Moreover, I might also have issues with several aspects of that production. There is not enough and there is too much.
Thank you again for sharing. I truly appreciate it.
Was introduced to him in the drama "Ashes of Love". He was brilliant as Run Yu, the Night Immortal. The only reason…
I also liked him ( and got to know him ) from that drama as well. I hope all the cat fight surrounding that drama won't affect his career as an actor because it would such a waste.
Ehhh? she's Canadian? Dual citizenship? In any case, since it is mentioned French fluency then maybe had lived in the Montreal area? haha
Anyway, she looks so young in Ever Night released stills. I thought she was 19 at most. Since it was mentioned that she is older than Arthur Chen Fei Yu who's 18 at the moment XD

Back in January 2018, Chai Bi Yun had won the 14th Potential Actress Award for her role as Cui Nong.
A satisfactory ending at last. v(^_^)v
