Likewise, I also wanted to sub Our Forty Years. I really like that production. Sent them a request on their official channel but was left with no answer until now ...
and yes, that is the thing, Nowadays, it is not that difficult to rip a video from its source. But to evade copyright strike though...
In regards of copyright, I'm sorry but, I don't know how to counter it. Because WE do not own the video right in anyway so ... it is always a risk ... It's up to you if you are willing to take that chance or not .... A more accomplished subber than me might know some tricks ...
On a side note, making a request on Viki and then join the subbing team might be an alternative in the situation the drama itself gather enough interest ...

Youtube has quite an easy way to add translation/ soft subtitles to your uploaded videos ... you might want to give it a try. It's under your Studio Channel, transcription tab
Myself, I use it to add softsub and timing to my videos. When the translation is done, you can use other programs to fix the timing if you're anal like me ... Also, you can use another program to hardsub everything.
If you have the video and you're fine with softsub though ... youtube is a one a good free ressource to look at.
If you don't have the video, you can contribute by requesting to ADD TRANSLATION to the video. The uploader has to enable Community Contribution in order for you to do so though ...
Has there been any confirmed updates on when it will air? (i would search it myself If I wasn't actual crap at…
Latest news says that is expected to be broadcast on Hunan Satellite TV every Monday to Wednesday at 22:00 on January 28, 2019. It will be 55 episodes.
may i know the reasons why you dropped THE "ashes of love"?....no offence!!....im just curious coz it ended up…
If you do feel like watching it, please make sure it's the 1986 version and not the 2000 one. That version was barely watchable...
In the 80's and the 90', TVB productions were very strong. Some of their dramas were simply ahead of their time. It is rather sad to see that arrogance got to their head and thus lead to their decline ever since...

Well, based on your reply alone, it seems to me that I most certainly did well on abandoning it after all. Seeing that you would actually rate that drama a perfect score even after dropping it twice, I feel that I'm better off skipping my personal reasons and will instead redirect you to this current drama topic.
My first experience with Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre is the TVB's version with Tony Leung. I liked the music score, the casting, the fighting scenes and the narrative style. Some specific scenes and dialogues were even memorable for me up to this day ... It was a very well-produced drama overall. I liked the heroes and some of the villains. Maybe I should add that I didn't like Zhou Zhi Ruo character that much but I am a fan of Sheren Tang. Cheng Kun is an a**hole but Lau Kong is a great actor. I love to watch for main leads but I also care for villains. It's difficult to write a great coherent script. For that drama version, I thought that "good" people got "awarded" and "bad" characters met their just karma. Out of all the four ladies for Wuji, I disliked Zhao Min the most. And yet, I agreed with the script for making Wuji choosing her, up until the very end.
That is the value of a well-written scenario and that is a prerequisite to keep my interest for following through a drama this long, amongst many other things...
Well, I also dropped this drama but not because of mushrooms lol. Truth is I love mushrooms so no issues there. But I got problems with the female lead. I don't know if it's the script fault or her acting, since I haven't seen any of her others works, but there were something off from the very first sequence when she got tricked into going for drinks with bad boys. Then, how she ran away from them. Then, being kidnapped, then saved, then... Lol I was watching with a frown all along. I think what irks me the most was when she followed Frankenstein/savior home then it was how she kept on asking him questions. It's not so much about the questions itself but more on how she asked it. Student or not, for research purposes or else, how the character was presented came out uncouth and aggressive. I was listening to her and couldn't stand it. I believe the problem was how her character/story was written. Hence, I couldn't get into the drama.
On a random note, there was this scene that she rode her bike and then just left it on the side of the road before "climbing" the mountain?, well I am quite positive that was illegal packing lol.

No offense taken on my end. ^_*
It's been a while already so I'm not too sure anymore. I think it was a mix of many related and unrelated things thrown into the mix. Didn't you mentioned it yourself that you also dropped it once also. Why did you at that time? And what made you resume watching it then?
episode 2, the greeter at the net cafe ... his voice .. like OMG .. ^_^" ... somehow his voice reminds me of Nishikido Ryo hehe
