It's a formulaic drama and it does not pretend to be otherwise. Rather, it owns that aspect. We see many tropes we are well aware of...at some point the drama will feel extremely predictable too. But that's exactly it!!!!
Everything is familiar, making it so easy to watch. Its a good drama if you want a break from heavier and angsty dramas. The MC being cute is a bonus.
Nagase Ren embodied the "royal-ness" of his character perfectly and so did Yoshikawa Ai, her characters pureness but the story was extremely lacking. It is a very pretty movie with wonderful MCs with good chemistry but all of it culminates into nothing.

Totally agree! I gave it a 8/10 too (gonna change it to 7.5 probably :| ) Before I watched ep 25-30, this show was at 8.5/10 and damn did those last episodes do a number on this show. The ending felt too rushed...they had 6 episodes to tie things up but all they did was speed through it. It genuinely felt as if the creators themselves were pressing the fast forward button.
I feel the same about their revenge too. The ending feels anti-climatic. Its as if everything this drama tried building up just fizzled out. A shame really.

Its been few days since I completed this drama but why does Tin's 🥺 this expression keep coming to my mind?!??! I will also agree that their NC scenes were very well done...felt very natural and made me feel like I was intruding by just watching it 🙈
Gosh....I am in episode 8 and will I ever be able to move forward. I keep on pausing whenever Tin gets teary eyed. Never watched Ongsa before but man can he cry prettily....makes my heart ache. I empathize with Phob but couldn't you have kept Tin in the loop? Watching Tin cry is bad for my heart :(
It feels as if we, as an audience, earned their (the main CP) tender/intimate moments in ep 26. Their wonderful chemistry was slowly built up by poetic nuances and scenes where they were in close proximity, so finally witnessing them lawfully married and being happy is such a treat!
I didn't really like the Melody of Golden Age and was surprised when they casted the main CP, but oh gosh! I am in love with this drama. The last historical/costume cdrama I was in love with because of the main pairing's chemistry, bond and story was How Dare You!? and finally, after 6 months, I have found a new couple to be obsessed with <3
Its been two weeks since I completed this drama and I still catch myself thinking about it sometimes.
The camaraderie our three main characters eventually form, the deep emotions shared between two people who decided to put their everything in the line to expose the truth and the harrowing moral/ethical questions that arise.
I personally loved the direction of the series, it was fresh and kept me engaged...every episode's ending kept me on the edge of my seat. A very compelling suspense Jdrama which surely deserves a chance.
I love JCW and Imada Mio so very much. Was a little skeptical of the pairing when they first announced it but after these photos, I can see the vision. I also love the Director because, well, Semantic Error remains one of the most perfect KBLs for me .
The problem, however, is the Screenwriter. I didn't really like the three dramas I watched written by them and the recent one I didnt watch because the comments/reviews on it were THAT bad. I just hope this drama is a breakthrough of sorts for the writer. Please make this drama starring my favs from two countries a genuinely good drama.
What in the world is with Chinese production companies and giving best bromance dramas the most vile endings?!??!?!?
ZSS x YH were the main character pairing that I was probably the most emotionally invested in this month. They occupied more emotional space in me than any goddamn romance pairing and how did the writers decide to end the series...in the most annoying way possible!
I want YH to be finally happy and be secure in that happiness and for that, ZSS needs to be by his side. I was looking forward to an ending which would imply they kept on solving cases together....not this vague ending!!!
