KJ2025 Ye Meng is very funny in how she teams with gma for photo shoot. While with Ya En she decides to go lingerie shopping and runs into Wang guy. She recognizes him as being trainer for MaiMai and follows. When she sees what they plan, she calls Jin Yu to get there pronto. As imagined they are trying to get compromising photos and video of her as a “commercial”. Fortunately big bro gets there in time to stop everything. She gets her money, the photos and they go to jail. She has a candid talk with Ye Meng about how great the big city really is. She understands she needs to have small step plans to achieve her goal but she also thinks Jin Yu is hiding out there and she doesn’t want to do the same. So understanding the truth if that he calls an old friend to get her to music school. The next day they surprise her with money and promise of school enrollment. Kai very generously offers his bar for her first concert. They go all out with local advertising and free drinks to get her a big crowd. She promises a love song and then begins. Death metal comes out of that sweet girl and the only one that likes it is youngest auntie. She is in her element and enjoying it. Everybody else thinks a demon from hell has invaded the place and wants out.😂 There are audiences for this, but like some forms of opera, it’s an acquired taste.😂😝 Gma wisely takes her money back and now not so sure music school is ready for her. But MaiMai knows she has the love and support of her family. It might just take her longer to find an appreciative audience for her flavor of music. Things are getting more spicey between our couple but there is always something keeping them from sealing the deal. 😂Her period interrupts plans so she gets the evening being pampered instead. She starts ideas going about a garden and then family and friend invasion. A party to celebrate them being a couple. Maybe at some point they will be a couple.😂

Jia Yu is a rockstar. Ya gotta love this kid. Ya En, who got kicked out of school defending a bullied boy, is married to a bully. Tbh, I didn’t see that one coming. She needs him gone asap. Kai has been obsessed with Ye Meng for so long that he has no clue how to backtrack with Ya En. Jia Yu is the only one that gets it and he is trying to help Kai out. He is truly the only grownup in the room.😝Kai’s eyes have been opened and he sees the impact of his rescue on her life. He plays back memories with better understanding. He is struggling that her choice to protect him resulted in a whole lot of negative decisions after. He did not know to speak up for her in school because he had always believed Ye Meng was his savior. Jin Yu’s little sis is on the cusp of adulthood. She loves her family but she wants to experience life in the big city and pave her own way. To do that she need 100k. She has borrowed 50k and tries to ‘borrow’ proprtuy deeds from her gma to get the rest of the money. She is caught by Jin Yu who isn’t having it and threatening police. She throws the ‘you’re not a real grandson’ in his face. Apparently this is family of stepdad. But I am still very unclear on his parentage. How is he the perfect donor and who is his father? Possibly sibling to his mother and killed? Is she reluctant aunt rather than biological mom? Did she claim him in name to have guardianship over donor? There is something weird here that money can cover up but it’s clear he is considered bastard child. I can reconcile her treatment of him better with her not being his biological mom. Ye Meng hiding last puzzle piece. That is such a pet peeve. She knows he was upset but pulling these silly mind games. He did tell her about not being blood related to gma, but did not enlighten her on crux of quarrel with little sister. Flashbacks show how much she loves him. But she is right at that age wher she wants her independence no matter the cost. I hope she finds an alternate way for the cash. Especially since this guy seems most like a scammer. Will have to wait and see how things pan out for all of them.

This episode was a whole lot of childishness. Kai and Jin Yu make a scene with Dr Gao. It is not realistic that a doc would have wasted his time with all that and would have just left with the girls. Ya En’s husband needs to cut his losses. If he would be mature about being a father rather than try to trap his ex he might actually win her back. Kai is likeable but so incessant. He means well but just has no off button. He needs to have a real conversation with Ya En about why he was carrying a torch for Ye Meng , why that has changed, and what that day meant to him. She is the pretty girl’s friend so she has no clue what the real reason was. Jin Yu’s song was his way to tell her what happened and why his attitude changed. They are cute about the fish. Their steamy interlude released tension but them talking was the step forward. She is still testing him over nemesis girl. I am glad she got the whole story. She is more vague about her past relationships. They are making progress and he can joke about the doc now. The amusement park scene was cute after little girl was part of it. Having the boy be their chaperone wasn’t working for me. Ya don’t leave the child on his own. That girl’s mom has no ears for her. I hope that changes and we get to hear about it. She strikes a cord with her grim reaper because they both feel unwanted by their moms. It’s poignant and sad. Kai has potential if he gets a math tutor😂Jin Yu and Ye Meng are taking baby steps towards a relationship. I’m still waiting for the adult conversation between them. She is flippant with his feelings and he shuts down rather than speaks up when others judge him.

Jin Yu visits gma and she gets on his case when he says he’s not the real grandson. So paternal gma or she would be in a private room somewhere fancy. What is the mystery with the dad? Were they brothers? If he’s illegitimate, why is he a donor match? The mystery of the green ring. How did this guy get it legitimately? Did her gma sell it for house payment? Mr tall dark and broody knows how to fight. Maybe learned from sweet tai chi days. These two are so mismatched in so many ways, but there is something there. They save each other pretty consistently, but do they bring out the best in each other? That remains to be seen. It is so damn bittersweet for Kai. He has been mooning over the wrong girl for ten years. I am so glad he now knows it was Ya En that rescued him. You could see the pieces click as he registered her having to leave school, that she was the one that wrote about him on the bench, and she has been the one looking over him. It also explains why her soon to be ex was so jealous of him. Now that he realizes who he has really loved all these years, I hope he tells her and makes up for lost time. I like Jin Yu’s goldfish family. I want some happy in his life and I want some resolution in Ye Meng’s. She is still drifting and indecisive. She needs to decide what course she is on and get going. She is still floating along not letting herself belong anywhere. Not even her past job or she would not have let homie nemesis girl win. She would have fought tooth and nail to stay. But something in her said this wasn’t the right place or people. Hopefully she will stop running and settle herself down and choose her path. I think Jin Yu and his gma hoping with them.

Jin Yu was quite the gentleman when he was literally yanked into Ye Meng’s room. What was more interesting is he learned they had a mutual friend…..a therapist treating those with depression. Here he learned a bit of Ye Meng’s past and had a nice chat with the doc. What surprised me is he told her candidly that he had known him for years. No attempt to play clueless. This is where new girl was old nemesis. She tells him how much she will forever hate Ye Meng and then adds…we can still be friends right?😝 Anybody that can harbor that much hatred should not be included in friend list. That’s just asking for trouble. There is a flashback of him by a pool. His wrist is slashed and he jumps in wanting to die. With a mom like that, who could blame him? Was she upset that his father died because he was the other donor? I don’t even know if I want to know Jin Yu’s backstory. I just want him to have a bright future without them. Ye Meng is going all out to plan a bday party for him and he is out of town. He did not explain why but little sis filled in everything. I am glad she told YeMeng and that Ye Meng got the first ticket out to visit him. He thought he had dreamed her. Who is his father? I thought he was the one with the money but apparently it’s the mom. So a sibling, older or younger? He is the beloved son and Jin Yu is the organ donor. It is disgusting she could not visit and then said oh btw this Visa card should cover your inconvenience. The only reason I wished he would have kept it would be for his gma’s medical bills. But I can understand why he found the money to be tainted. Ye Meng’s visit at the hospital proves she can be selfless. She wanted to be his guardian angel and for a brief time she was. I am not completely sure why she didn’t tell him she was right there when he said not to visit, but maybe she was respecting his privacy. The mom is vile, she deliberately brought up one of the most painful nights of his life and then pretended it actually affected her. I don’t know why she couldn’t have been honest with him when it was obvious he wouldn’t say no. To be so cold to him and so gushing over the recipient of his marrow was …I don’t even have words for that. She forgot 4 words. Thank you and happy bday. She thinks her money does the talking and for most of the time it probably does, but when she is truly on her deathbed I hope he says no. And I hope he knows who is real father is and changes his name. 😝I liked that Ye Meng greeted him and chided him for telling her not to visit. It was the first truly sweet smile he had for her. That cake…probably did not compare to the fancy cheesecake he brought back, but I bet he thought the best cake he’d ever had. I wonder if this was his first bday cake from someone that truly cared about him? Both of these two have some serious scars, but I am rooting for them to succeed as a couple.

Well now we understand her car choice.😂 These two must have competed while still in the womb.😝 Jin Yu’s gma is team Ye Meng. She doesn’t like the long distance relationship and wants a nice local girl with her grandson. He helps as repairman for Ye Meng’s house and young auntie wants his number.🤣 Her Gma knows where she is staying now so the gig is up and they are going to stay invested in her dating choices. The new girl at work wanted the project but didn’t expect Ye Meng to leave the company. They have words at the wedding but she has made no comment either way about what her future plans are. Dr Gao turns up at the wedding and she runs off with tall dark and broody. Not a thing wrong with the doc except she would be bored to tears with this guy. She also does not seem mature enough for him. There is a reason she likes younger guys. Her history points at a learning disability of some sort. She is willing to put in the work, but she is all about tenacity and high marks are not easily received. She has had to work her but off for any reward she has gotten and it’s exhausting. She is comfortable in her own skin socially, but career wise she acts like walking on eggshells. I think it has been a great respite for her to be home and just ‘be’. Everybody thinks she is the great career woman, but I’m not convinced that is who she is. I think she is still deciding. She and Jin Yu have enjoyed fireworks twice, at the fish lantern festival and now at the wedding, after several rounds of absent minded cocktails. She serenades him this time. They like each other, but both are debating if they LIKE each other.

Poor Kai, he is so desperate for any kind of relationship with Ye Meng and the more he pushes, the further she tries to get from him. Same holds true for tall dark and broody. He just wants to live in peace and she won’t leave him be. The gma is adorable, recording them at the coffee shop. She filled in some of his history. Now we know his dad did take him overseas. Not sure why he passed or what happened with his family, but Li Jun Yu heads back home and takes mom’s surname to rid himself of wealthy family. There’s a whole story there I want to know. Ye Meng again sticks her nose where it doesn’t belong and completely trashes his interview. Now we know he has slash marks across his wrist. Did he do this or his mother? She was crazy enough to do something like this. Ye Meng slightly redeems herself by lazering off his scar. That was one thing he truly appreciated from her. They share mom stories and both were bittersweet. He deeply loved a woman that had no use for him, and she was warmly loved by a woman that committed suicide. Both of them had deep sadness about their mothers even tho from polar opposite perspectives. Kai spends the afternoon with her friend getting drunk and lamenting Ye Meng. She has finally had enough, yells at him and sends him home telling him to rehire tall dark and broody. After finding them at her old family home, she pretends they are close and Kai leaves. Surpringly he hires Li Jun Yu back, but wants his popularity posted on WeChat as part of his job.

Kai is a childhood friend that was scarred in an incident and has a love/hate relationship with Ye Meng as a result. She and her friend care about him but he seems to be a bit left of legal so they keep their distance. Her friend mainly because of husband, soon to be ex. They are battling over a child so compromises have to be made. Tall dark and broody visits his dad’s gravesite. The father seems to come from wealth but left his son to deal with a mental mom that resented his very presence and locked him out as a young boy because she didn’t want him. Not sure if he was responsible for the fire as a boy, but his mom wished he had died there. He has some serious issues but tables it well to get from job to job. Ye Meng is most after him to get back at nemesis. She is being overly nosy and trying to figure him out but going at it incorrectly. He is finding her very annoying, but rescues her anyways. Fate seems to have him at the right place and right time to save her from other men intruding her life. The aunties’ are not letting her get out of doc date and Dr. Gao accepts all her terms for accommodating the entire household. She may have to actually go on a date with him. She throws herself at tall dark and broody who emphatically tells her he is not interested, yet shows up like dark angel to save her. He is a contradiction for her that she wants to figure out. She moves out of Gma’s place and ends up being upstairs from tall dark and broody. Happy circumstance or fate?

Ye Meng is having a day. The project she has busted her butt on for 6 mths has been turned over to new girl. She went to boss to protest and found new girl on his lap so time to go….after a nice brawl with new girl on way out. She gets home to find every local auntie lined up on the couch with a doctor on the way to meet her.😝she escapes out the window thanks to Mr tall dark and broody delivery guy. Her friend gets jinxed and actually does hurt her leg and ends up in hospital. The doc she was supposed to meet keeps eyeing her, but since she didn’t stick around she doesn’t know or care. She does find out that delivery guy is dating her new nemesis, so she was more than happy to let him know he wasn’t her only boyfriend. As she is trying to escape via window from another guy, tall dark and broody bails her out again. Not sure what the history was with hometown guy, but it didn’t seem like good news. So now she knows that tall dark and broody is good with kids and sings like an angel. In spite of herself she is intrigued.

The episode opens at a crematorium where one body is checked in but two bodies on the cart. Xiao Guang got a night in the hospital. Here YiRan runs into a dealer with an asthma inhaler he knows from his past. They have tested the meth and same concentration so they know it is locally distributed. The factory warehouse has been idle for too long so they are trying to figure out where the new distributing location is. The little girl’s mom pays a visit to the club where her husband was beat up. She quietly watches and eats snacks while the guy that beat on her husband is treated in like fashion. She warns the club’s manager there should not be a repeat. The new squad is getting heat that their investigation is running cold and they want results.

There were some warm fuzzy moments this last episode. Entong finally spoke up about the tanks. I appreciate the lesson and growth they were giving her character, but she again took up a lot of time that I would have preferred spent on rest of cast. This could have been covered in a positive way rather than all this negative drama for somebody suffering PTSD. The cast did a wonderful job with their roles, but I feel this was a missed opportunity to have the group grow together overcoming a tragedy to waste on obsessive drama just for the sake of drama. They made her the linchpin for his healing when she deliberately caused the most harm. For me, that took away a good bit of the positive vibe I wanted from this story. It was like a sweet idea with a bad aftertaste. The cast did a great job and I enjoyed the music, I just didn’t personally care for the creative direction the writer and director gave Entong’s character. She was written in such a way there is no indication she would really change and it took away from being able to enjoy the other couples because they spent too much time cleaning up the messes she made. I’m glad the couples ended on an upbeat but I was left wondering whose lives Entong would scar next and I don’t think that is what the filmmakers had in mind with their story. That is just the impression they left me with.

The battle scenes were choreographed beautifully. It was very exciting to watch. I do have a question tho, where the hell was Chi’s armor?!?! We finally got the full story of Han and Huai. Who knew that the dowager thought the best brother ruling? I have no clue how she reached that assessment when he murdered all that stood in the way of the throne for his son. I was a bit annoyed I got cult leader wrong, but was placated with minister Li’s chest reveal and arrest. 😁 The eunuch has a lot of people he will recognize no matter which place he goes. Killed while praising his illustrious leader all self righteous of his cause while passing off his white mask and shifting blame. The same poison that started it all was fitting. He had a chance to explain and admit wrongdoing. He died still grasping for the throne. Ze getting stabbed by the hairpin that was a symbol of love is ironic. He had as many issues as the emperor. Had Han stuck with the wife he loved and his son, he would have been far poorer and much happier. Young Sui will be guided by regent Chi and rule well. His entire young life has shown him what not to do. The dowager ….I have mixed feelings for her. She let family die to keep her secret. Giving him up was a choice she thought she had to make, but sitting there letting her family die one by one….she should have guilt and regret for that. Ok….the two wives going at it was almost comical. The consort was a B no doubt…but she had the empress’ number down on having a weak son to hand her the throne. They decided to clear the air by killing each other. The new laws of the land will bring more relief to the commoners oppressed and suppressed by royals and officials. It was a good start to leveling the field for justice. Ning is heading home to decide where her life is headed from here…..her special delivery is taking the journey with her. All will be done to take care of his beautiful face. 😂There are some loose ends that could have been tied up a bit better with the cases, but overall is an enjoyable watch. I would love to see a season two but don’t think we will get that lucky. If not, this is a satisfactory place to end with a bright future for all of them.

Chi did not see this ending the way it did. He overcame his anger to not kill him but have it be judged and Cheng executed. Cheng forced the blade through his heart and filled Chi in on palace rules of royal corporal punishment. That royals die in prison without public humiliation. Chi is shaken and feels he failed his father. The emperor is not only not angry, he covers it up for him. He charges Chi with negligence and removes his minister title reducing it to commandant of the palace guards. The Lt recognizes him and declares loyalty to the young marshal of Shuoxi army and hands him his sword. Here I was wondering if it is his or his father’s blade. In any case, in spite of demotion, he has loyal troops around him. I am really liking this young officer and happy he and Shuang are expecting. The scene goes to Cheng’s mansion where they really do look like rats deserting the ship. Xiang and Feng daughter have another fateful encounter. Xiang gets the brunt of it and is tossed in a pond to drown. As Ms Feng smiles all pleased with herself, she is struck down by imperial guard saying all concubines and wives with their staff to be executed. Ironically she was just legally divorced and no part of his house. The consort has gone mad and assumes all who enter are trying to kill her. With her pleasant demeanor, I have no idea why she would be so paranoid.😝 Bai kidnaps the prefect for breakfast and request for assistance with files. They need further proof of handwriting. Wan searches a family hiding place and the emperor’s dagger is discovered. She goes to confront minister Li and finds out why her father was killed. Li was mad that the royal evidence was hid. He knowingly let Jin take the fall when holding a child’s unsharpened blade. He was disgusted that royals were exempt from the law and held minister Shen responsible for being complicit. Wan and Chi finally thinking minister Li is part of the cult. I still think he’s the damn leader. I really want a chest reveal to prove or disprove this.😝I have no idea what repercussions Wan will get for slapping him, but he damn well deserved it.😝 The court chides emperor for his sons falling like dominoes and no heirs left. He points out that he has nephews and other relatives that can be named heir. He starts with Yan Li and Chi and other options while ranting at their audacity in wanting him to write a decree of reflection. He has totally lost it. The dowager is hiding and keeping Sui with her in seclusion. Wan finds herself uninvited unless requested for medical reasons. The empress is still swinging. She gets Wan and Chi to a maid from older days. She is in hiding under empress’ protection because she knew the dowager birthed twins. Now Wan and Chi can stop with the DID evidence. It was not an alternate personality. They now know it was an alternate brother.

I am still disgusted Entong thrown in for a second round. That did not let me enjoy some of my favorite characters last episode. Han was an ass but he has some real issues to work through. He did not give Jian Dan credit to stay by him even when truth was revealed about audio file. His wisest move was to leave entirely to let his brain focus on something he has always loved…math. He needed away from all the well wishers and plotters to just be himself in a different environment. For him, training is soothing. It was good to see the circle of friends pull through for her, and for his sneaky order of soup. Thanks for letting her get her necklace back. I was hoping fate would have them walk on the beach together and find it laying there waiting for them. This was better because he already thought she doubted him. This prevented any further misunderstandings on that point. I am still annoyed that we will only get one sweet episode when we could have had three if Entong not hogging screen. She played her part well because I despise her on sight. I hope I won’t hold this against her in any other dramas she is in. Well there is symmetry in starting and ending in cake. Will they eat it or wear it?

This writer device wasn’t needed after everything she did to jeopardize his mental health. I am really unhappy that this had to be added. She hasn’t changed at all and if anything is even more manipulative. I really enjoyed the budding romance with monkey and Jiang but this bitter pill of Entong ruins the entire episode.
