What...are you telling me Signal and Please come back, Mister are all about adultery? Colour me shocked. I thought one was a crime drama, and the other, a weird body-swap one? :P I will always prefer american tv shows for plots, and able to make me come back for multiple series. The Brits are not too shabby either. But the asian world...you nailed it, bud. It's the innocence - or rather, how it harkens back to Austen's era, where writing a letter was the height or romance. Same applies here. It's not all about who's hooking up with who, exchanging partners all the time, just focusing on physical gratification...when I discovered k/j/t- dramas I felt like I'd gone to heaven :P Try watching the mini-series Dramaworld. It will be full of fan-service :)

I am the opposite to your vigilantism. Whilst you go around chiding people (presumably) about not using the spoiler button, I tell people they're using them too much. Why on this very page, I was talking to somebody, and they said, "I'm planning to watch another (programme) next week"...then marked it as spoiler! I jokingly said it's a spoiler to your schedule maybe, but the underlying subtext is, people don't think about what they're typing enough, and whether it's really "a spoiler or not."
You like the kinky dramas? Uhhmmm. That's nice! :)
As a rule of thumb, are all adultery dramas "kinky?"
lol, I think we're all behind you on the grow a pair of balls comment. How can this be labelled a revenge drama, when it takes 50 or 60 episodes, before anything revenge like happens? All we have is reactionary characters, and no "take-charge" characters. Well, we did...*sobs*
Yeah. I was in the dark too. The whole summary lead to a big debate on here, and we were taking bets on who would die. I was firmly in the "Na Yeon" will die camp, flying the flag proudly, until someone told me the KBS released summary...still I watched, hoping they were wrong. Haha. That reminds me of my "currently-watching" list. According it, I'm watching "30" dramas, buts about 28 of them are really "on-hold."
Seen ep 14 of Marriage Contract yet?
I have work, so will watch it on Tuesday. And with no hint of irony - no spoilers please! :)

I don't see how "my favourite twin died" is a spoiler, because I could literally mean either of them. It's like if I said, "my favourite character died in Harry Potter" and you told me to mark that as a spoiler - which it wouldn't be, unless you knew me very well, or I'd written a blog, saying "SNAPE IS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER". But I concede :P
Heh. I don't mind the long replies! Particularly because you paragraph and don't repeat points. I really want to watch six flying dramas. Apparently that is a 50-episode MASTERPIECE. This is my first 100ep drama too - but I don't think showcases them the best. I think King's Daughter Soo Baek Hyang is rated pretty high, and I plan to watch it, right after this one.
Yes! I said that at the time too. Very "Stairway to Heaven." Also those time jumps....whaaat. I started of saying Na Yeon, what an angel, but by episode 30, I was calling her naive, delusional, irritating...it's why I preferred her twin. (I was going to make another point here, but I forgot what it was -.-)
Ah. You do realize the summary on here is false, right? KBS released the correct summary all along, stating Do Hee will die, but it got confused, and someone translated it to Na Yeon dying. They didn't "trick" us. They told us exactly what was going to happen, but someone got the wrong end of the stick, and made up their own summary.
Ha. I think I've dropped more dramas than you, or you've completed more than me, so clearly you're more patient out of the two :P My grand rate is finishing 2 dramas per year.

Just out of interest - what drew you initially to this drama? Was it because it gave you Queen of Ambition vibes? You sound like you're in a love-hate relationship with Heaven's Promise :) In contrary to you - I was never bored. Vexed, certainly. They kept teasing us about when Do Hee and Na Yeon was going to meet, then I read a few spoilers, and discovered my favourite twin died. That made me nearly quit. I stopped watching about three weeks ago, but then decided to start again today - and you know what? There is an addictive quality to it. I can't describe it exactly - like you said the majority of the characters behave ludicrously. But I actually like all of Na Yeon's family and their side story-lines.
Anyways, I'm pleasantly surprised to see you here and I hope you don't bust a major blood vessel whilst coming towards the end.
I was actually going to drop this, but I decided to man up, and keep going. I mean, I even wrote an article on it! How can I desert this drama??? I'm on ep 42, will catch up soon.
This drama could be pure genius. It internalizes every fan's dream, and haven't we, as a viewer, at numerous points wanted to jump into a drama and "speed things along?" I watched the trailer, and it's completely self-aware, takes the mickey out of drama-making and I think could be the future of american-korean collaborations :) I, for one, can't wait to watch this!!!!
I looooooooved episode 13.
I looooooooooove this drama.
At this rate, I don't care if the ending is happy or not, I will still love it. However, if it has a HFN ending even better
PrettyCarEye - I've watched (or attempted to watch) at least 4 of the dramas you mentioned, and I still agree…
<No business watching the shows of this writer>
I'm sorry, who's dictatorship am I living under? I wasn't actually aware the same writer wrote all these shows when I watched it. It's only when you listed them, right here, a couple of hours ago, I realized out of the four I watched, I disliked the romance in all of them and the same writer was behind it. Maybe I can avoid this writer in the future, but to be honest, I never let actors/writers/directors sway me into watching or not. I purely read the plot, and if it sounds good, I start watching.
PrettyCarEye - I've watched (or attempted to watch) at least 4 of the dramas you mentioned, and I still agree with rachel. I don't even think she writes romance well. And to put it together with unrealistic backgrounds - well, I s'ppose some people are more forgiving, or able to look past it. Good for you!
It's a pity you'll be down-voted for your opinion, which is well articulated, well thought out and put across compellingly. I for one, gave it a thumbs up :)
I wonder if you girlies would like these bad characters so much, if they were ugly as sin? I mean there are groupies…
@Rouzmary. You are one of the enlightened ones.
I would've liked this article more if the honus was on "appealing villains" and it wasn't about their looks and how sweet they are. The author of this article reveals some of these guys are murderers but he's so "adorable" - gaaaah. Couldn't even finish it.

Yes, but you probably like your bad guy because you see redemptive qualities or you find him psychologically interesting. However, even you won't be cheering him on (I hope) when he's strangling a lowly minion and they think that "looks attractive" and he is "attractive." Villains can be fantastic, appealing characters - but all times when they're committing bad things, they should be condemned. When you reduce a villain to just how "hot" he looks, he's being objectified and it actually diminishes the character.

I mean there are groupies who marries dudes in prison because of this exact same problem.
Girlies need to separate their fondness for actors and their looks and their fondness for "attractive villains."
haha. We frequently joke about having time travellers in our midst when some eejit reviews an entire show too early - but I don't think they actually exist :P
Doha!!!! Can you please put more detail in your reviews? You're reviews are very generic and isn't specific to ANYTHING. I can take your review, word for word, and apply it to a spanish telenova or a thai lakorn.
Each episode is literally getting better. I got the sniffles after episode 11. Usually, I run away when I feel "obliged to cry" but because the acting is so good, I'm sticking with them, and enduring their pain xxx The uncle is so gruff, but with a marshmallow core, I just love it!!
heehee. Absolutely!
