Is this the drama that kickstarted the asian TV revolution? Although looking back, it may seem the worst piece of sh*t, I think it gave the foothold for Korea/China/Japan/Taiwan to start branching out to the awesomeness we have today.
I was really hoping for some twin action...like Ren Mei is stuck in a love triangle between the new, nice twin and the mean Long Tai, who used to enjoy ridiculing her when they were younger. Nope...that would require split-screen technology, and double the efforts of Mike He...so instead I just gave up. *shrugs*
Thank you for this article btw. It lingered in my subconscious until I watched The Man from Nowhere today! You're right. He's literally awesome. However I'm slightly bemused by all this fan worship...because he's in like 4 dramas, and like 4 movies...usually rookie standards...Won Bin is definitely on the cards, but I won't start fanworshipping until I see at least 3 different roles from him :P Not keen on watching the old dramas, though I might give the other movies a go...but act in something soon! Show these idols how it's done! :P
I've been trying to watch this for the last two years but, I don't know, I can't gather courage because of all…
palek, you have no idea how much your comment made me giggle! :D I watched a few episodes last year, but I kinda dropped it, because it was weirding me out all these brothers were hitting on her. And the bald-styles! hmm...might give it another go...might not...
OK...this may sound bad, but the only actors I might watch dramas for, without knowing anything beforehand is Lee Min Ho...and that's a pretty big but! I just want to point out, just because some megastar is staring in something, doesn't mean the drama will have good writers, directors, supporting cast etc. So I don't watch anything, unless the complete package appeals to me, even yes, if it contains an actor/actress I like! I refuse to waste 16 hours of my life like that.
The best kiss I ever watched came from a T-drama. I think you had good points, but out of all examples...Playful Kiss? No, no and no again. I think several actors and actresses are good (Yoon Eun Hye? OMG!) but I'm going to be honest with you...asian kisses on screen have a long way to go, starting with a nation-wide ban of keeping your eyes open, and looking like you're playing the non-musical part of musical chairs (the bit where they freeze, lol?)

Some (the majority) of K-dramas have the worst kisses out there.
I don't watch dramas for kissing anyway, or else I'd be perpetually disappointed every way I turn!
This drama had a unique starting point, which I'm annoyed wasn't exploited to the max. This was a new type of role for Park Shin Hye, and I was really feeling it in episode 1 (come on...that bit on the counselling couch - pure awesomeness!) but as the story progresses, you see little character development (PSH barely speaks, which if not directed accurately, gets annoying after a while) and the story descends into banality and boring routines/stalking. I dropped at ep 5, so I don't know if it gets better than that...but what a platform to work with, and what a way to bugger it up. *la sigh*
This drama is something special, if it continues the direction it's taking. Loved the bit where class president is dueting with an imaginary younger version of his classmate, I can officially say only in MONSTAR :)
Haha, hilarious article. The last few lines were precious, and also very true! Losing your gift...filled with sobs, haha. I liked this article very much, and it just confirms that one of korea's strengths (promoting chastity, true love, etc etc) is also one of it's biggest flaws (no chemistry when it comes to kisses, and wrist-grabs don't do it for me, because he looks like an archaic cave-man.)
Yoon Eun-Hye is the best kisser out there, but unfortunately, is not put to good use, in terms of decent scripts! Coffee Prince was BRILL. Goong...meh. Missing you...just about. Lie to me...dreadful.
ummmmmmm,, let's admit it, fairytales and a girl marrying a prince always get our attention, I mean I'm sooo not…
Not necessarily. Because this storyline has been repeated sooo many times, at sooo many angles, most of us feel like we've seen it now. Writers keep having to get more inventive to get us interested.
lol..I don't mean the drama has to be about a loser. Just a change, will be nice. I will check it out! thanks
Oh no. I'm not hating Disney at all, because let's face it, it's every little girl's multi-billion dollar dream ;) I really enjoy Disney films (Tangled, anyone?) and it shouldn't be messed with, because it works so well.
But it's the truth. Disney conditions girls to see marrying "princes" are the norm, and being good, and kind, and fair, will make you get one. I think that's why a lot of little girls are disappointed when they grow up, and the rose-tinted spectacles come off. Because there are 3 douchebags out there, for every nice guy. (Don't quote me on that, lol.)
The venn diagram paints an interesting picture, because it states men who display the 3 desired qualities: Smart, handsome and nice are GAY! Thanks. Thanks for that. What a brilliant piece of news, as I break down in despair :D
Child stars have always been amazing, if I remember correctly I watched "Stairway to Heaven" (2003) and was blown away by Park Shin Hye's performance. Fast forward a decade, and I'm struggling to connect with her in any of her roles. Don't get me wrong. The girl's amazing. But it'll be interesting to see how many of these child stars manage to transition to adulthood without compromising on their acting ability/sincereness.
Recently, I enjoyed the young actors from Jang OK, though I can't find them anywhere on dramalist O.o
Good article. Would have loved if you did a top 10, or something, because there's so many x
