Thoroughly disappointed with Perfect Crown - biggest disappointment this year so far - ended up dropping it. I love both leads in this one but was planning to watch it when all episodes were aired... But people are raving about this one so... OK let's go. I don't want to have too much expectations because I've been burnt by PC and another overly hyped K drama this year so, I'm keeping my expectations down low.

Please be as good as people say you are.

Ok... I wrote a rant which I erased several times... But I guess I just can't get past this, and I don't care about all the praises this series got.

AUTISTIC PEOPLE AREN'T OVERGROWN BABIES!

No they don't spend their time doodling with colored pencil, NO they don't need somebody to help them get changed, NO they're not gonna clap their hands for some stupid stickers.

ADULT AUTISTIC PEOPLE ARE ADULTS. THEY'RE MOSTLY INDEPENDANT, in fact given the proper environment, they earn their keep just fine which given Ozone's case should have been the case in this drama.

This is the WORSE representation of autism that I've ever seen. Nothing against the actor, that's how he was directed to act but NOPE, this isn't autism.

There are different degrees in autism and supposedly Ozone is on the severe side.

WELL then dear writers, there's an old movie made in 1988 which features two brothers, one with one of the most severe case of autism. It's called "RAIN MAN" featuring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman...

It's almost fudging 40 YEARS OLD and it did WAY BETTER than you at a time when autism wasn't as spread as it is now ( because yes sadly, this condition is on the rise) and people didn't know better.

GO WATCH IT NEXT TIME instead of perpetuating wrong ideas about it. F*** LAZY. DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Could have been enjoyable I guess if I wasn't familiar with autism in the first place on a personal level. All the emotional BS, Ozone hugging and all of that. Ha! What a joke. Doesn't happen in real life. You know... with people who are REALLY autistic.

Forced myself to finish this mess. The final "twist" is supposed to be all emotional but since all I could focus on was the fact that Ozone was behaving like an adult mentally challenged - which is again NOT the case with autism, they think different but they don't behave like children - it just pissed me off the whole scene.

Do you realize that even autistic people who are Asperger for instance, so one of the mildest form - very difficult to detect, often only diagnosed when reaching adulthood - aren't comfortable with physical touch? Yet Ozone is clinging to literally everyone including people he barely knows.

Interesting story, but the whole autism thing is an eyesore. I won't give this a passing grade.

Next time, do better.

The replacement of Bongseok's actor is so unnecessary... im so sad about the news. He is the most beloved character…
You can't stop a whole production for one single actor. Moving features a whole lot of A list actors whose respective schedules have to match to film together. You're asking a whole production to stop for ONE ACTOR who can't even confirm what his plans are after his military service. That means that you're also asking for his colleagues to hold off on other projects they might be interested in just to be sure to be free when HE is ready to film?

Come on' be for real.

Realistically if they waited for him, season 2 would be filmed at the earliest in 2028 and by then the hype would already have died... on top of having actors too old to still be acting as teenagers ( dude is already 28 ).

Not only that but one has to consider all the technicians, CGI artists and so on working on the project. The production probably prefers working with the same team from Season 1 to Season 2 but like actors these technicians move from project to project. Wait too much and they'll be engaged on other things with no room left to go back on working on this series... Which would mean additional time to hire new workers and make them get familiar with the whole artistic direction, working habits etc. which defers depending on who is at the helm.

In short: Replace one actor and a whole lot of issues are solved or prevented. He's not the character, he's an actor playing a character. Also, people can complain all they want, but since he won't be the focus of future seasons, that's an even bigger reason not to bother.

Disappointing ending. Rushed and unearned. I dropped this after 6 episodes, thinking I was just not in the mood... And to be fair I'm not... But rushed and disappointing ending, characters changing their mind and stance our of nowhere, happy ending for everyone including those who didn't earn it... with a disappointing conclusion on top?

Nah sorry. I won't pick this up again... even though I love IU and Byun Woo Seok. They're not worth the disapointment。I read this script won a contest?

If so I doubt it was this 12 episodes version because my God, even watching from the sideline the last 6 episodes ( I just checked the most important scenes to see where this was going), it feels like they cut corners to fit the 12 episodes format and probably butchered the original story... because no way in hell did this script win any contest or people at MBC are going senile.

i'll be honest i don't think the script could've been saved if they weren't pressed for time and had 16 eps instead.…
Yeah I just checked the ending... and I'm not even sure about what I wrote. I don't mind clichés when it's well done but I was already a bit on the fence after 6 episodes... Now that I've checked the end, the only word that comes to mind is "dissapointment". I love all actors in that show, but the script is just pretty weak. It's okay to go the clichés' route... and no drama is perfect... But that rushed ending giving forgiveness to characters who didn't earn it and 180° personality change on top is just jarring.

I'm not gonna defend a show that failed its viewers to that degree. Now I'm not even sure I'll bother. I'm no fan, so sado masochism is out of the question... I'm currently watching the 3rd season of Alice in Borderland, and my God do I regret not listening to people and wasting my precious time on it... But now there's only one episode left, so I'll see this sheep through the bitter end. I'm not sure I can accept throwing more than 12 hours of my life on this, when I already spent more than 6 hours. Time's precious and I've already wasted too much.

The problem is not the clichés... it's the fact that the "happy ending" feel unearned and rushed for the sake of completing this in 12 episodes. The pacing was bad, and the writing was weak.
They had great actors, great production, beautiful costumes and they totally wasted the script. They relied too much on IU and Byun Woo Seok's fame to carry the whole thing but no matter how great an actor is, you can't save a lazy script...

At the end of the day... I think I'm glad I dropped it at 6 episodes... I don't think I'll bother picking this up again. I'm just VERY dissapointed. 2 years waiting for Byun Woo Seok's next drama and that's what we got... A nothing burger...

No wonder people kept complaining.

Well I put it aside for 3 weeks... planning to binge the remaining episodes in one go... But I still spoiled myself enough to know what is happening... and... It's a drop for me especially seing the strange reversal of the Queen in episode 11. Doesn't make sense to me... except for the fact that this series is only 12 episodes not 16 and hence they were pressed by time. A few scenes I've seen for episode 11 also had some very choppy editing. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels that way... I'm afraid of this comment section, so I'm just throwing my 2 cents here without having read other comments. Anyway, given the fact that it's pre-produced and the amount of money poured it, honestly it's a bit of a let-down.

The face card is strong, and there's lots of money poured in, but not a single cliché feels fresh or new... it's predictability at its finest... I literally remember the last comment I posted 3 weeks ago regarding noble idiocy and what not.
No surprise there.

This being said, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Sometimes, you're just in the mood for something classic with all the clichés in the book and that's totally fine. I'm just not in the mood at present, so I'll give it another go in a couple of months. Hopefully by then, this comment section will have calmed down.

My GOD, how our standards how fallen to the deepest depth of the abyss of the oceans. For 22€ per month, mediocrity has become pretty expensive. No wonder, piracy is back and thriving. No way in hell, is this worth spending money on let alone one's precious time. 🤬🤬🤬

I'm gonna do like literally everyone and pretend this season never existed.

Final ratings 3:
1 for the actors + 1 for the crew (CGIs included) + 1 for the Production value. Sheepiest writing I've seen in a while. A bunch of characters we don't give a sheep about, special mention for the useless sister who basically remained useless up until the end even though they tried to make her appear useful... this character had absolutely no character. Usagi? Ruined! Wheelchair guy? Sad excuse of a human being which they dared to give a somewhat redemption arc at the end as if Arisu should be grateful for him saving Usagi's bottom when he was responsible for this whole mess in the first place.

Also Usagi... From badass climber to damsel in distress whose bottom needed to be saved by a guy in a WHEELCHAIR. My God How the mighty have fallen.

Talk about character assassination...🤬🤬🤬

Hopefully my brain will do a reboot and I'll forget what I just watched soon.

do not trust mdl ratings anymore and always give it a try, while you are curious.this site is already filled with…
You just have to look at the front page under "Shows Starting this Week". It's updated literally everyday i.e if we're on Tuesday, it shows dramas starting from this Tuesday to the following Monday. Honestly The Wonderfools like any other shows was there for a whole week, you can't miss it, and it's still there today until midnight in your country. You just have to think of checking it out once or twice a week and you won't miss any shows which is dropping all its episodes at once.

Thanks for the reviews ^^ Won't bother watching ^^That's why it's always better to wait for other people to waste their time BEFORE you engage yours.

Of course, opinions are subjective... BUT there's enough tragedy in this world currently, and I have my own set of problems to deal with, I don't need another portion of depression in my free time thank you. Beautiful cinematography and good acting is not gonna make the whole thing more joyful.

Hard pass.

Trying to find some empathy for Kang Seol Ri but I can't muster any. Girl is cosplaying as the victim, it really irks me to no end. You literally witnessed a murder and you turned a blind eye to it... You're way worse than Hae Gang ever was. At least Jin Eon is owning up to his "meandering" but Seol Ri? Will there ever be a single scene in which she atones for what she did? She's pretty nasty imho. At least you can understand where Hae Gang is coming from. She probably became ruthless because she felt she had to give back to the family who accepted her marriage even if she wasn't proper "wife material" for their precious son... But she only played dirty with outsiders not with people within her own circle. Seol Ri though? Selfish through and through. Can't stand Seol Ri's character especially since I know she'll probably not get the Karma she deserves.

It is one of the weirdest comment section I've seen. I have to admit that I've been more on the c- drama side…
Ah yeah well. True... I used to me more strict but I became pretty generous ever since I came on this website. I think the issue stems from the fact that you can rate in "halves". On MyAnimeList, it's either a 7 or an 8, so there's less leeway for approximate ratings... Still you can't vote in halves on Viki and ratings are way more overblown there and Japanese dramas still tend to get lower ratings so there's definitely a trend.

True. The ratings for C dramas are even more messed up than the ones for K dramas imho. Overblown ratings is a stapple in MDL Cdrama land. Compared to those, K drama ratings seem more balanced. J dramas are always getting the short end of the stick though.

Title Perfect Crown Spoiler
It is one of the weirdest comment section I've seen. I have to admit that I've been more on the c- drama side…
Actually the C Drama section can be just as toxic, actually even worse. The stupid fan wars between Zhao Lusi's fans and Esther Yu's is probably at the top of the toxic pole though. POJ is crazy popular but apart from Zhang Ling He, his co-star is just not as high on the popular pole compared to say Bai Lu, Zhao Lusi or Esther Yu. Things would have been VERY different if the FL had been more popular ( this being said, Tian Xi Wei is bound to have a surge of popularity given the success of most her latest projects).

The main issue is you should be able to post a negative opinion about this show here without having to face 30 comments of angered fans insulting you for your opinion and saying you're an anti or whatnot. Might be the case, might be not but at the end of the day, these excessive reactions leads to people over-posting negative comments because of course, it's a normal reaction. Nobody likes to be told what to do or think so if you gang up on someone you can be sure others are gonna post the exact same negative comments creating a loop of negativity.

If people took negative criticism just for what it is i. e an opinion things wouldn't go out of proportion. People are free to like or dislike a show and express their opinion. They shouldn't feel personally attacked for it. Ultimately, if you enjoy it, you can just say to the person who commented that you disagree and explain why you disagree with their comment.

No need to get that personal. It's a DRAMA and these actors are neither your friends nor your family members. They're doing their job, If people don't like their performance as viewers, they have the right to criticize without being being ganged up on.

Do these negative comments have any impact on your appreciation of the show? Do we need to force people to like the same things we like?

That is the biggest problem with all these popular shows. When the Star Gossip had the same issue in reverse. People who enjoyed it where among the minority, but if they dared say they liked the show, they would be attacked by an avalanche of comments about how they were either idiots or supported pro-life propaganda or both. Might have been the case who knows... but once 1 or 2 people have answered, do they need 15 other people commenting the same thing and insulting them for their liking of the drama?

Geezus... That's why when I occasionally comment, I tend to stay away from airing dramas that are among the 10 most viewed... I comment mostly on popular dramas when they've finished airing months or years ago.

This comment section is truly ridiculous. Yet another demonstration of why comment sections of dramas ( no matter the country) should be avoided when being aired if the main actors are among the most popular.

I've stayed away 5 days, came back to see some comments and all I see is another ridiculous fanwars with a couple of genuinely interesting comments but one has to waste time filtering through the trash to find them.

Well... Fine. I'll just do like the silent majority and avoid the comment section altogether. Sadly, they're the best part of MDL... WHEN the shows and the actors aren't too popular.
Otherwise as usual, fans and anti-fans just come to ruin the fun for the rest of us.

Yeah this is what I intend to do IF episode 10 ends on a positive note. If not, I'm waiting next week to binge everything. The advantage of staying away from the drama for a week is that it makes it easier to stay away longer.
