Fengshan Clan is the clan referred to in general blessed by the spiritual fire. Only pure blood ones who can nurture the spiritual fire are Simas. The others with impure such as having half bloodline falls in the general category of Fengshan. This bloodline people cannot nurture a spiritual fire but other things are similar. All her backstory and everything is a new addition in drama and never existed in the novel. There was only a background character Hongluo who became FL's friend in the 2nd arc when FL got separated from Sima Jiao. Their friendship was natural and built on helping each other through crisis. Not like the drama, where she is given an extended unnecessary story arc as Ye Ruling and portrayed as a hypocrite. Her indecisiveness and wishy washy attitude feels like those self-righteous hero/heroines who harms others relying on tragic backstory and mess up everything; hasn't there been enough scenes in other stories like killing with a borrowed knife, acting all tragic to force the people around them to do things that she herself can't do so that she can whitewash in the future; and after messing up they will say things like I didn't mean to involve the innocents, I had no choice, I didn't know the people around me would take action, its my fault, ... blah blah blah.. She is literally giving that annoying hypocrite self-righteous vibe.. And her whole story and romance with snake feels totally unnecessary.
The drama should have just focused on Sima Jiao and LYT, no lame forced 2nd CP or no other annoying characters with new back story

The only reason LYT is giving some viewers the impression of being naive is because of the interaction between LYT and the unnecessary new extended role Ye ruling with an equally annoying backstory. We novel readers clearly know that LYT is not like all those emotionally silly FLs out there, she is a salted fish but never stupid and makes her survival the top priority even when she was alone in the demon relam in the 2nd arc. The drama created an unnecessary 2nd CP which wasn't in the original and added an extended background for an ordinary supporting character Hongluo from the 2nd arc as a hypocrite Ye Ruling. This drama never needed any 2nd couple or any forced interaction of FL with other casts. All those new scenes of LYT interacting with Ye Ruling every time feels like they are forcing LYT to turn down her survival sense and IQ. I feel so sad seeing people misunderstanding FL's personality due to the forced unwanted additional story of a background character.
